No y'all don't UNDERSTAND. Naruto is ostracised by everyone and grows up thinking he's unwanted. He overcompensates for these feelings of abandonment by declaring he'll become hokage--become the leader and take the most admired position in the village. So imagine the shock when Sasuke SACRIFICES his LIFE for Naruto when they go against Haku. This lonely boy, equally abandoned, understood Naruto better than ANYBODY. He loved him so much he gave up his LIFE!! for him. Naruto carries the weight of this action for the rest of the story. No one else knows Sasuke's kindness better than the guy for whom he gave up his life for. And importantly, throughout the rest of the story, when EVERYONE gives up on Sasuke, Naruto is the ONLY one who doesn't. He believes they are friends, they are bound. When he discovers Sasuke's pathos, he empathizes with him. And when push comes to shove, he says he'll accept the entirety of Sasuke's hatred. Take his pain because while the world ignores it and villainizes Sasuke, Naruto is the only person who looks at Sasuke's ugliness straight in the face and understands it as an expression of grief and anger. He says he'll DIE for him. This is the life Sasuke saved, and Naruto, GIVING UP even his dream of being Hokage, for the acceptance from everyone who rejected him, says he'll use that life and he'll die for Sasuke, if that is what brings Sasuke peace. Because Sasuke's happiness is greater to Naruto than the anger and confusion he felt for Sasuke for leaving them. If Sasuke can feel even a little less pain, Naruto will do anything for him. And then Kishimoto DARED to end this love story for the centuries in het slop.

"i went through a month of being raped, my brother died, and i made a contract with a demon who is supposed to devour my soul. nothing worse can happen to me" and then his aunt tries to kill him because she turns out to be a serial killer, and his job is to catch her, and she dies in front of his eyes, and he joins the circus to infiltrate a group kidnapping children, and their father is a guy who wanted to be one of those who tried to use him, but he failed because he was chained to a bed, but he still triggers his ptsd, and he has to kill all the kidnapped children because they won’t be able to deal with the trauma after the events they went through, and the queen finds out so as punishment she tries to frame him for murder, and a circus boy tries to kill him, and suddenly it turns out his enemy is a bunch of zombies, but he survives and his reliable demon turns out to be more vulnerable than he imagined and one of the few people who knew his father closely turns against him, and when he carries out further orders from the queen he almost dies twice, first from gas poisoning and then from being crushed by a tank, and when he returns to england his fiancée runs away from home and doesn’t want to come back, and his friend’s servant dies and his friend will never be the same again, so basically he lost him, and all of that because he couldn’t tell him clearly enough not to interfere in his affairs and he will feel guilt about it for the rest of his life, and in the manor it turns out his brother was resurrected and frames him for murders and takes his property, his title and his fiancée and he is forced to run away, and when he finally thinks he can peacefully conduct his investigation his false identity is exposed from the very beginning and he is in a place where others know more about him than he knows about them, and a strange guy appears who knows sebastian is a demon, and suddenly the queen appears and he is probably like a trapped mouse in a room where cats are waiting for him to be within reach, and his name isn’t even ciel phantomhive.

Y’know that first gay ship you’ve shipped ever since you’ve realised how obviously down bad the characters are for each other? And I mean like you fall in love with them so much you start analysing and breaking down every action, sentence and expression bc it’s become such an obsession you just can’t let it go. (my first gay ship was sasunaru. Like anyone can spot the yearning from a mile away bc those idiots don’t know how to keep their eyes off each other. I mean it’s so obvious cmon now)

Then that one ship kinda becomes like an inspiration or reference to gay stuff at the back of your mind like it’s the first ship you compare your new ship to in terms of similarity/differences. And then you go on to watch other shows and read other manga and your already keen eye catches the subtle (or obvious) gay vibes and you start seeing the chemistry between the characters and you’re like yeah I’m defo shipping that. Then later once you’re organising your already watched/read shows/manga vs the ones you wanna start soon you start remembering all your ships too. And then you’re like damn. Oh damn. I knew I shipped a lot of ships but holy shit I ship a lot of gays. And I mean like there’s wayyy more gays than straight on your shipping list. That’s literally me. I just realised.
