arthur charles and javier reacting to a female s/o who proposes to them?
Hello friend! I hope you enjoy it 💚 have a nice day and thanks for requesting it!
You’ve been watching Arthur a lot lately, waiting for the perfect opportunity.
Days went by with the weight of the rings on your pocket.
But there’s always something getting in the way: Dutch, Pinkertons, money… He seems worried most of the time.
There’s no such thing as the perfect opportunity, you thought to yourself, making your way to Arthur.
“Hey darlin’”, he says as you approach him, but his words get tense when he notices how far away you seem, “is something wrong?”
“Uh? No! It’s fine! Would join me for a walk?”, you don’t sound like yourself, but nervous, now that is finally about to happen.
Arthur knows he’s been a bit busy lately, but you wouldn’t break up with him over something this small… would you?
If not, why not say whatever you had to say right there and then?
He followed you, his fidgety fingers unable to stay still.
That was it. The mesmerizing spot you found days ago. Your hand closed around the rings inside your pocket.
“Arthur, I know this might sound sudden… maybe I was a fool for thinking-“
“Let me stop you right there. I know I’ve been busy Y/N, but I don’t want to lose you, not you… not over something small like this and we’ve been together for so long-“
“Arthur…? What are you…? I’m not breaking up with you, silly man! I’m asking you to marry me!”
“Marry you?”, the sadness was slowly replaced by shock. Then the biggest smile you’ve ever seen slowly reached his lips.
No words were needed, Arthur scooped you up in a big hug, almost lifting you off the ground.
Still embracing you, he pillowed his chin on your shoulder, “of course I’ll marry you… All I want is for us to be together.”
That was not at all what you had in mind for a proposal.
But by sliding the ring on Arthur’s finger you were sure that any of that mattered.
You had your answer, and that was enough.
It was on the most simple details that Javier kept falling in love with you.
The way you searched his hand on your sleep, the crease in the corner of your eyes when you smiled…
Every day he kept imagining a future with you. That’s the kind of man he is. A cautious dreamer when it came to the matters of the heart.
Those thoughts were the ones that brought him to a man known for his lovely ring designs.
He wanted to make you truly his.
Javier kept imagining what would be the perfect way to propose, something that made you believe how serious he was about it.
Night and day he walked around with the pair of rings on his pocket.
His mind was trapped in a loop of endless proposing possibilities, so he did not notice when you two were the only ones left around the campfire.
“You were sitting right where you are now when we met…”, you started, unsure how that would turn into the most important question you would ever ask.
His eyes focused on yours - they were big and warm.
“I didn’t know it back then, but that same man that played his guitar a little louder that night would be the one I can’t picture myself without today…”
This wasn’t one of your many spontaneous declarations. By the way you sounded, like there were things yet to be said, Javier noticed it was something bigger.
He mimicked you, tracing the ring on his pocket with his finger.
“I… what I’m trying to say is… would you marry me?”
Javier was expecting the question, still, hearing it out loud made his heart overflow with joy.
“Si, mi amor”, he said, offering you his own ring, “I’ll marry you.”
You looked at him in disbelief, was he planning to ask you as well?
Your laughter was uncontrollable, how lucky you two were to find each other.
“Shhhh”, said Ms. Grimshaw or maybe Dutch. You two were too excited to keep it quiet.
Javier held you close, trying to cling to that moment for a little longer.
To him, being proposed to was even better than hearing a “yes”.
He knew exactly how much you wanted him. And he was sure he loved you back with the same intensity.
You couldn’t picture your life without Charles anymore.
Every possible scenario that came to your mind, he was there. You wanted him there.
But you were a bit scared that this would seem too sudden or even rushed.
Charles is not one of big flashy romantic gestures. He loves just like the way he is, quietly, subtly.
Yet, you noticed the passion that burned in his eyes whenever you were around.
But doubt consumed you. Would he even want that? To get married?
You would have to risk it and see. You needed to do that or else you would always live with this question eating your insides.
It was a nice afternoon, just like many others. You grabbed his hand and said that you wanted to ask him something.
You were so worried he wouldn’t like the idea that you didn’t even focus on choosing a spot beforehand.
It was just the two of you, a pair of rings and a quiet spot on the forest nearby camp.
“Charles, you make me so, so happy… and not just that but, ever since we’ve been together I feel complete, safe…”
His face light up with affection, his humbleness always got in the way of him enjoying compliments.
“So now I see it clearly, that I want my whole life to be like this… would you marry me?”
Your heart skipped a beat to the silent response you got.
It wasn’t supposed to take this long, was it? Yes or no, is a simple answer.
“All my life I felt like I wouldn’t get good things, like I didn’t deserve it…”
You stepped closer, your heart thumping on your chest, was he declining it?
“And then I met you, and I knew the world would find a way to take that away from me as well.”, he took the ring off your hand, “but I won’t let it, I want to be with you until we are no longer anything.”
It took feeling the warmth of his embrace for you to realize what was happening.
He was yours, he said yes in his own ways. This was your husband from now on.
