Hi! This is a side blog (formerly sideofsaltblog) for keeping some things separate from my main blog (@havealittlebitofeverything). Basically just posting writing here. AO3: archiveofourown.org/users/midnightsong22
reblog this and tag with a food you no longer have access to (closed restaurant, state you moved away from, ex’s mom’s cooking, etc) that will haunt you until your dying day, mine are the spicy chicken sandwich on the employee menu at the fine dining restaurant I was a prep cook at, and the onion bagel from the kosher place down the street from my house when I lived in the city
Help fund the anthology by pre-ordering yourself a copy right on Kickstarter! Whether you can afford one or not, sharing can help us to get fully funded and get this unique work out into the world to educate and entertain.
When the people writing about sex workers aren't part of the community themselves or see us as nothing more than scandalizing subjects to profit from, you see less honest depictions and a lack of compensation for the stories that are shared. I firmly believe that when asking sex workers to share highly personal events and perspectives, they should be compensated for that work and respected throughout the process.
That's why this anthology has such a large funding goal for a book, with so many sex workers' writing being included. This allows all sex workers a chance to contribute regardless of their income, because they are paid for their time. When it comes to trans and intersex sex workers specifically, there's very little literature about us and when we are able to create projects they're often small-scale zines or include a narrow range of people. As a community, we deserve better than that.
With just over 2 days left of this campaign, every single pre-order of the book counts and helps us to reach our all-or-nothing goal! We're 90% of the way there and need your help to cross the finish line.

With less than 2 weeks left to raise the roughly £11,000/$14,800 needed for Transactional Intercourse to get made, now more than ever your support in sharing and pre-ordering is vital! It will be an anthology of trans and intersex sex workers' writings about how our identities impact our work, and it cannot be made if we don't reach the funding goal! Tell your friends, share with your networks, and help us get marginalized sex workers paid to share their experiences.
A Trans and Intersex Sex Worker Anthology.
This is a one-of-a-kind project and it can't happen without support from the wider trans and intersex communities, as well as allies. If we don't record our history and experiences, who will?
y'all should really support this if you're at all able. Jack Parker is doing incredible work to highlight the voices of trans and intersex people in sex work. I was blown away by his book Hooker Mentality, and this looks like it's going to be a super ground-breaking anthology. I've just pledged support myself, and I'm really looking forward to the book :)
so help me god you are all going to hear me talk about this book until it's funded because I want this to exist so bad it's unreal. support the field of trans sex work scholarship being advanced by trans sex workers.
Transactional Intercourse, an anthology including 30 trans and/or intersex sex workers’ writing, will serve as a snapshot of our experiences in our own words. It is now available to pre-order so we can crowdfund its publication!
A Trans and Intersex Sex Worker Anthology.
(Ships worldwide, with books sent from printers within Europe, the USA, and Australia to minimize costs and avoid tariffs.)
Contributors will be intersex and trans sex workers from various backgrounds in terms of ethnicity, class, disability, immigration status, sexuality and more. My goal is to prioritize the most marginalized sex workers whilst also taking care not to exclusively focus on those with difficult or traumatic experiences, so that the anthology does not give a skewed perspective.
The platform this anthology is launching on is Kickstarter for one major reason: creating this book will cost a lot of money and we can only make it happen if enough people order copies. Luckily Kickstarter is built for this, so you will only pay for your order when the campaign ends and if it is funded. If we don’t reach the goal, no-one will be charged (and the anthology unfortunately won’t be made).
You can read through all the details on the page itself, from who will contribute to a cost breakdown to what you’ll find within, but here are some of the highlights:
30 different trans and/or intersex sex workers from diverse backgrounds and with varied perspectives, all paid for their writing.
Tiers offering everything from an e-book copy all the way to limited edition hardbacks with transcripts of interviews and an exclusive podcast episode of trans and intersex sex workers!
Foreword from a sex worker activist with experience in community organizing.
The inclusion of a name of your choice on the “thank you” page of the anthology for every single person who gets a copy, including those who solely purchase an e-book.
Thank you so much to everyone who has been hyping up the plan for this anthology so far. I’m so excited to be able to share it, after years of wanting the chance to delve into this kind of project and make it happen. No more noticing gaps in literature and thinking “what a shame” and moving on - we’re going to fill the damn gaps ourselves!
Please share this to spread the word and help us reach our funding goal!
(You can see your total word count by looking at your stats page and selecting "all years", if you have multiple accounts, vote based on your combined total from all accounts)
A survey to assess what non sex workers think about sex work!
This survey is for people who have not done sex work themselves, to gauge both your opinions on sex work and how much you know about it! Click here to take it.
Please share to get as much of a range in respondents as possible.
You are encouraged to answer these questions no matter your current level of knowledge or how strongly you hold to your positions. While you might feel compelled to look things up when answering these questions, it's ideal that you respond without doing so - you can always do some research after if these questions spark your interest.
Questions in this survey will also have an additional focus on trans and/or intersex sex workers, because information collected will be used to inform the themes for Transactional Intercourse, an anthology of trans and intersex sex workers' writing. Some parts of the anthology will be aimed at correcting misconceptions and addressing topics which are the most controversial, and to do that we need to have a clear idea of what those are.
Maybe if people updated more we wouldn't turn to ai
You’re a pathetic, impatient loser. Fanfic writers owe you nothing, and their writing is their own, not yours to do with as you choose, you entitled brat.
Please think of Western North Carolina (and everyone in the South) this week as we recover from horrifying flooding, mudslides, road destruction, etc. from Hurricane Helene last week. Entire communities were swept away.
People lost their homes, businesses, & lives to this & there are many people still in danger. There are people stuck at their homes because the only access roads were washed away. Resources like water, food, gas, etc. are in short supply in some areas.
Cell towers, power lines, & fiber optics were damaged or destroyed so communications have been hard to get out. As people come back online there will be more pictures and stories to tell. A lot of our smaller towns were hardest hit like Marshall, Chimney Rock, Hot Springs, Cruso, and many others.
If you can donate please do so, otherwise please share as much information as you can.

About the AO3 "No Guest Comments for a while" warning
If you're not following any of AO3's social media accounts you might be in the dark as to what kind of "spam comments" have engendered this banner at the top of the site:
These spam comments have been posted about a great deal on the AO3 subreddit for the past couple of days. Initially they comprised a bunch of guest (logged out users) bot comments that insulted authors by suggesting they were using AI and not writing their own fics. Some examples, from the subreddit:
But it then escalated to outright graphic porn images and gifs being posted in comments, again by logged out 'Guest' accounts. Obviously, I'm not going to give examples of those, but between these two bot infestations, AO3 has clearly decided to act and has temporarily closed the ability to post comments for users who are not logged in with an AO3 account.
Unfortunately, this means that genuine readers who don't have an AO3 account won't be able to leave comments on fics that they enjoy.
If you are a genuine reader who doesn't yet have an AO3 account, I strongly suggest getting yourself on the waiting list for one. More and more AO3 authors are now locking their fics down to registered users only - either due to these bot comments or concerns about AI scraping their work - which means you're probably missing out on a lot of great stuff.
Hopefully guest commenting will be enabled again at some point soon, but I suggest not waiting until then. Get yourself on that list.
Wait times are going to be longer than usual at the moment, due to the current Wattpad purge [info on Fanlore | Wattpad subreddit thread], but if you're in line, then your invite will come through eventually.
Update: There's now a Megathread about this on the AO3 subreddit.
here is a super helpful website for this kinda thing!

As we're now hours away from season 2 I wanted to quickly show off the AMAZING gift my friend made me for my birthday last year! Thanks again @themoonwouldnotcooperate <3
