It is open every day of the week and is famous for its lake, where you can rent pedal boats. It has also Bangkok's first public library in it, and the place where the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra plays its annual concerts in the park series. Lumpini is a wonderful place to see Muay Thai fighters and see Sepak Takraw Players Practice (Sepak Takraw is a national sport in Thailand - like volleyball, but players may only their feet, knees, chest and head to hit the ball) . There is also a large area where Thai bodybuilder working outdoors, complete with weight machines. Lumpini Park is a popular area for families to hang out and picnic, a great place for jogging (especially in the early morning hours before the heat of Bangkok will kill you), watching or just to stroll and people. I love to enjoy walking around Lumphini to buy a ice cream cone in one of the many small items, and photographs of people living Bangkok. Suan Lum Night Bazaar is also right next to Lumpini Park, and is a great place to head for a cold beer if you have had a hot day in the sun at the Lumpini Park Park.Rama IX, otherwise known as Suan Luang, was in honor of His Majesty the King of Thailand for his birthday 6oth. Rama IX Park is a fantastic park, with beautiful botanical gardens, which seem to be for miles distance, huge expensive Thai colorful flower beds, a reservoir and a large lake. You can rent paddle boats on the lake, walk in the park enjoying the flowers, or visit some of the exhibits which are to His Majesty the King's life dedicated.
