A little bit of discourse to distract myself from the sads.

• the canonical year is 2025. Chim joined the 118 in 2005. That twenty years, two decades. Tommy said that shitty did someone forget to tip the delivery guy NINETEEN YEARS before he came back into the current narrative. Like people fucking change and if you’re still stagnant after two decades, I feel bad for you.

• “east coast bitchiness” isn’t the same as calling someone a bitch and isn’t misogynistic. There’s a longstanding East Coast/West Coast “rivalry” that has people from the west coast thinking about us out east that way. It’s not that serious. Also, a decade ago.

• “he’s belittles Buck by calling him Evan.” Buck is a grown as fucking man that can speak up for himself. Buck is a nickname. Evan is not a dead name (imma really need yall to stop saying it is… it’s reductive and offensive).

• “he bought him basketball tickets, he hates basketball.” It was sweet. It’s a throwback to what got them together. Again. Buck is a grown ass man.

• “they’re setting him up for Buddie.” No, you chuckle fucks. They shut the door on that in 8x11.

• “why is ‘that man’ at the funeral?” Because Tommy was there for his first and last shift. Technically Eddie shouldn’t have been a pall bearer and he definitely shouldn’t have stood and saluted with the other personnel in uniform. He’s not a firefighter anymore. Tommy saved Bobby’s life TWICE now on screen. They didn’t have to bring him back, but they did and maybe it’s time to think on that.

The fact of the matter is that this is the most significant relationship Buck has had to date and they’ve been off as much as they’ve been on. If you watch what has been on the tv and ignored discourse, meta, and interviews and just watched the show how it’s written you’d see that Tommy is playing an important role. One that is a pointed storytelling decision.

You can like Bddie or dislike Tommy/BT, who cares, honestly. But be honest in why you don’t like Tommy, you can just not like him because he’s not Eddie. That’s fine. Both Buck and Eddie have both had misogynistic moments over the past eight seasons. You move past that, perfectly fine. It’s almost like it’s all performative. Trying to make yourself seem superior. How come all of Eddie’s not so great qualities are explained away by him being “repressed”, but the same leeway isn’t granted for the actual canon gay man who was actually closeted.

• Perfect characters are boring.

• People should be allowed to grow and change, encouraged in fact.

• “Tommy’s good people, he’s good for you.”

It's okay, Chimney Begins is my favorite episode so it is especially relevant to me and I can never get over his behavior there. It's understandable other people may have forgotten though. I agree it should be addressed.

He was racist to Chim throughout the Chimney Begins episode, then in the Hen Begins episode which takes place three years later he told Hen none of the firefighters would hang out with him because he's Asian. That's at least three years he was racist to Chim. He also acted misogynistic to Hen in that episode.

Many of us in the fandom are minorities so you see it's really annoying being told this isn't a valid reason to hate him. He never apologized either.

I see, that’s concerning as a minority too. I’m sorry if any people have said it’s not a valid reason to hate him, I do believe that he’s changed BUT it’s best that they do talk about it. hopefully they’d address it in later seasons…

The chances are slim though, with the seasons go and now 911 being with another tv network(?)…I believe they have forgotten about it.

I understand your frustration, with how Tommy brought out Bucky’s realisation of his sexuality and that I’m just glad it’s shown in television but contrary It seems I have caught myself forgetting of this character’s certain views x.x

I don't think we should be policing people's reactions to a character that was racist actually. If you like him that's fine but people are justified not to.

I don’t want to hate but my opinion. Are these comments necessary? I don’t understand, Tommy is cleary here to stay. And I’m sure Eddie is too. Bobby is dead, clear as day- bro left in a bloody body bag. Saying Buck doesn’t care about Tommy is just wrong, if I remember correctly. Buck literally said he’s been holding himself back from calling.

Tommy isn’t a random love interest, he WAS a 118 member before, he had cared for Bobby so his presence is not just for show.

And no the scene was necessary, it was showing how Athena is a smart woman. Not Tommy, but he did somewhat steal the show with them heli skills..come on- accept that Eddie and Buck being together is getting slimmer and slimmer. And be happy that Buck is actually getting someone who genuinely cares for him.

I felt the urge to just comment on this- AND I know that not every Buckie fan is like this. I love u Buckie fans :)

LISTEN, I’m a big Buddie fan…BUUUT. Tevan has won me over in just episodes. I love how they just..look at each other, the dynamic is so much better. you can see it! Literally. I’m in love. I know Tommy would be there for Buck after what happened..still shell shocked but okay.

No way they broke up. Have you seen how much Buck have grown because of Tommy?

It’s something small but I can tell tommy was scared and guards himself, mentioned by Josh, they were the first before everyone accepted being gay. I feel like that’s why he broke up with him, he was just scared. I hope he comes back…I really like them so much. I am a much bigger Tevan fan than Buddie fans, like Buddie has an incredible track of knowing each other but it’s all friendship. Like fucking good friendship and nothing else.

But for Tommy and buck? There’s really a dynamic! Buck actually for once was committed and willing to try, for all we know, this was the longest relationship Buck has even been in! Maybe for Tommy too, I really really want them to be together.

I feel like this is a big mistake. And introducing Abby again? Why? What season are we on again? And when did we last saw Abby?
