If you're being gatekept from receiving your hormones by doctors (and by that I mean you have a wait time longer than a couple of months, MAX), ordering estrogen from the internet is easy, safe and cheap. Picking a proper dosage is extremely well-researched and extremely easy by going on transfemscience.org and checking their dosage guide (and seeing if your hormone levels are within norms after a month or so). Of course, if you can, get within reach of a doctor to monitor your levels with proper guidance, but this if this is not feasible for you, DIY is, in fact, pretty simple to obtain and carry out. You can also reach out after starting DIY - this is a practice that's common enough that any reputable endo will still accept you.

I know ya'll want boobs. Guess what - I wanted boobs too. 3.5 years later, I have a natural C-cup that literally still grows every now and then. I didn't have to go the DIY route, but some of the people in my life did.

Trust me here. Trust me. If you're trans and aren't on HRT, thinking "it won't help that much anyway" - it does.

Transfeminine Science is a site for information on hormone therapy for transfeminine people.

here's the transfemscience link mentioned earlier! important for all transfems, as even on prescription HRT your doctor/endocrinologist may have given you a shit dose (often it's really low doses of estradiol combined with nuclear levels of T blockers). in order to stand up for yourself you'll need to be informed and i don't think there's anything more comprehensive than transfemscience out there.

if you are looking to get a prescription (coming from DIY or not) i would recommend looking for a trans-focused local subreddit. that's how i figured out the process for getting my prescription. if you don't want to brave the horrors of Having A Reddit Account you can just look for other peoples' posts.

again, this shit has decades of research and an entire community behind it, DIY is not something to fear, just make sure you get regular blood tests and know what to look for, i'm not on diy so i don't think i can speak further but just know that it's a viable option, ok love you all byeee

I ought to reblog this cuz, fun fact, transfemscience (and people on reddit who use it as a source) saved my life!

In Europe, it’s extremely common to prescribe cyproterone as a blocker instead of spirolactane. However, cyproterone can have a bunch of nasty side effects (like depression, or even a non-malignant brain tumor) if taken in overtly high doses.

Well. Guess what. The recommended dose is 10mg a day (which is enough to block testosterone even without estrogen, usually). I got prescribed 100mg a day. 10x the recommended dose. An unsafe dose. A dose that, if I took for longer, may have had serious effects on my health.

I went on r/transDIY, posted about, people literally SCREAMED at me to lower the dose, endocrinologist be damned. And I verified it all with sources on transfemscience and yeah, they were right.

And I cannot stress it enough - these resources have provided me with more information about how HRT works than most non-specialized endocrinologists have. In fact, if your endo is not deeply familiar with trans issues, you should probably go over transfemscience.org or, at least, post your dosages and bloodwork results on r/transDIY to see if you’re not being fucked over by someone pretending to know what they are doing. Heck, you should probably do that anyway. Endos are terrible at getting trans issues.

I think it's important to remember why so many trans girls are into "messed up" kinks like this, where woman are put into reductive gender roles. Its because we are never allowed to be seen as pure and full woman even within communities that nominally are allies. Cis woman are allies until you try to talk about your period (which trans woman do have btw), everyday misogyny, or anything they associate to be for only "real woman." So sometimes the only way to get gender validation is through these kinks, plus a lot of the times the people in them will be the kindest most accepting people you'll ever meet. That's not to say these kinks are evil or that no trans woman would have these kinks if we were fully accepted, but there is a reason why the number is so high. We are treated like proto woman or more accurately like gay men, something that isn't as dangerous as a straight men, but still could never understand the struggles of "real woman" and its fucking exhausting to deal with. They act like it's our choice to deal with all of the bs we do, but it's either deal with the bs of being a woman or be fucking miserable. I can't be a man and the thought of being forced back into that role makes me want to die. Stop with the hollow platitudes. Treat us like woman, love us like woman, and stop supporting hate brigades against us. I don't care how bad you think the thing she did was, call out posts never help a situation, they never allow a person to grow.

Having queer friendships as a queer person is wild because I’ve got friends with whom I am more emotionally intimate than I have been with past romantic partners - with half as much effort on either person’s part, and with 1/10th as much time to connect.

I dated a girl at BYU for like a fucking year where the one time I tried to tell her a movie was sad (Dead fucking Poet’s Society, btw) and she didn’t text me back for half a week because she thought that was so gross. And now I have friends who bought me like $75+ of post-surgery recovery goods, threw me a surprise party (where everyone wore matching pajamas), and made me cake all because I DMed three sessions of Pathfinder for them while stoned.

I tell my friends from back home that I love them when we end voice calls and they say it back with enthusiasm. I once said that, platonically, to a straight friend after my mission and he acted like I pissed in his glovebox after asparagus night.
