ppl in my notes are so judgmental about tai deciding to try to burn van’s body so quickly as if that was some cold hearted decision and it was entirely a reflection of her personality or emotions or something (esp in contrast to shauna refusing to let go of jackie’s corpse for months) when like yes sure to an extent but also, crucially,,,,, baby there were wolves in those woods!!!! that’s the whole point there’s literally predators out there and teenage soccer players lost at nighttime are at the bottom of the food chain

but literally the second they realized van was alive, tai refused to leave her and singlehandedly carried her halfway back in the dark to the point of her own exhaustion and physical collapse like. “they didn’t even take the time to check if van was dead first” VAN WAS MISSING HALF HER FACE. taissa was sobbing and wailing because you could literally see van’s skull through her cheek.

and it was pretty clear when van woke up on the pyre that she had this dramatic starting-to-breathe-again moment so it probably was genuinely hard to tell that she was alive before that. that was the whole point. they lifted her up onto that pyre, they were fully moving her body around, and she did not wake up. i challenge any of you to properly confirm the vitals of a completely nonresponsive person who is missing half their face when you’re a fucking terrified heartbroken teenager in the woods at night after literally moments earlier singlehandedly fighting off a pack of wolves with a stick. y'all are literally such demons to taissa for making a reasonable choice in an impossible situation it’s unreal.

really hope they get into the nitty gritty of the yellowjackets’ various relationships with food post rescue. like when does tai decide to become a vegetarian? how have their pallets changed over the months they were out there? will some of them develop EDs due to the drastic change in food abundance? will a few of them struggle to eat at all for a while, because they’ve come to associate food security with a price tag of death and suffering? and especially since they’re gonna be coming back to a world where y2k ‘nothing tastes as good as skinny feels’ & diet culture is about to explode. like that’s gotta be a double mindfuck on top of everything else, to see millions of people idolize the physical state you were in while you were starving to the point of eating your friends.

not seeing a lot of people on here talking about ICE murdering another man yesterday. His name was Lorenzo Salgado Arajou. He was a Mexican man living in Houston Texas. He was killed at age 52 and lived the past 35 years here in the USA, and was in the process of obtaining a work permit. He was shot and killed during a traffic stop that ICE claims was part of a targeted operation, and claimed he was “weaponizing his vehicle”- the same claim ICE agents made when they shot and murdered Renee Good.

During the stop, Lorenzo had 3 coworkers with him in his truck who have all been taken into ICE custody.

His family described Lorenzo as a hardworking family man who didn’t deserve to be killed. All he wanted was to provide for his wife and see his sons become great people. His eldest son recognized his father by his cries and pleas when trying to identify who the victim was.

The Salgado Araujo family has set up a gofundme to help with funeral and legal costs, and to help keep their family supported since Lorenzo was the sole provider.
