I know I said I was gonna be unprivating posts, but I’m now realizing I have to retheme all my fics n whatnot. PLUS it looks like my other blog is back to normal, so I can resume posting art there, but…. Ughhh this is gonna be so much work 😭 and I am too tired for this.

Ok so now I’m free to draw/write a little some more, and I have to confess. I might be becoming somewhat a Tifa simp. Specifically when she’s drawn more muscular/“lore” accurate. Don’t know if I’ll write anything about this yet, however… I will be drawing beefed up Tifa soon 👀

Circling back to my own unpopular Seph opinions. This will be critical of some aspects of FF7 and other games featuring Sephiroth and Cloud, so if you love their dynamics in any aspect, this is your warning to keep scrolling, or read with an open mind.

I think the games (plus outside sources like Dissidia) almost constantly turning Sephiroth into little more than "obsessed with Cloud" kinda flattens his character and does him a disservice.

To me, Sephiroth only caring about interacting with Cloud doesn't add much beyond what we already know in canon. To continually focus on only that just seems like the lazy way out because well...it takes little effort to tease and bait at this point. We know the audience is there. SE knows the audience is there.

Consider that it would take more character work to let Sephiroth play off other characters - to be even a little affected by them. It would bring in something new to the tapestry to who and what he is, thus inspiring more fan lore and new engagement too. In my opinion.

Consider how Ever Crisis had a chance to add a little to the Elfe/Sephiroth interaction. It did not have to be something huge. But a moment of him being questioned, challenged, a moment of two different yet similar characters playing off each other, a moment for Sephiroth to show some introspection, and a moment to add more dynamics to Elfe, to pique fan interest.

Yet we got nothing (so far I guess but I don't hope for more). Like SE is afraid to show Sephiroth being affected by anyone/anything outside of Cloud, currently. It is as if they've reached too far into making them an inseperable villain/hero duo, and they've written themselves into a box.

I'm 50/50 on Seph-Cloud in the sense that I like the narrative parallels and symbolism. I like Cloud's character resolution. When it veers into toxic yaoi tropes, you've lost me.

It does not help that I first got really attached to Miniroth himself, and there is just something about reducing that boy to one-sided obsession that makes me...sad, for lack of better term? Plus I like Cloud enough, but outside of Tifa do not care about shipping him that much. The same cannot be said for other characters, even Tifa herself.

I agree with everything here SO HARD and wanna add my thoughts. Like when we got to see Sephiroth interact with Zack, Angeal & Genesis, HELL even Aerith in those few Rebirth scenes, it feels FAR more special than the 1,000,000th “you are my puppet, gimme black materia” scene with Cloud.

And don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Sephiroth and Clouds CANON dynamic, them being parallels of each other, and the way (in my opinion) Sephiroth treats Cloud like his younger self (the projection/repeating things Hojo/Jenova used to say to him). And I actually think had shit not hit the fan, they could’ve been like Zack & Angeal (if Cloud made it into SOLDIER). But when all you see is toxic yaoi (well, up until I blocked everyone who ships it 😭), it gets real tiring and makes me feel resentment towards BOTH characters.

I just hope this sort of thing gets better in Revelation and not worse. But I’m feeling kind of… meh in terms of optimism, considering they straight up erased his more human interactions with Elfe in Ever Crisis, and are now permanently getting rid of the one game where we can look deeper into his background/understand him better. It’s such a disservice to his true character.

Heyyyy so I am not fully coming back (yet), but.. I do have some good news. I caught the person harassing me thanks to instagram's account recommendation system lol. They are now blocked literally everywhere, and unless if they plan on doing something absurdly illegal that would immediately result in a fee/jail time/whatever, they no longer have any leverage over me. Yes I still have my job, and no, nobody cares that I write fanfics in my free time lol. So... womp womp I guess.

I do wanna get back to at least doing headcanons for Sephiroth.. as for fics I might stick to ao3 for a bit? idk, we shall see. At the moment I'm too busy with work & art fight to write much so it'll probably be a few more weeks before I can get back to writing. But I'm still here! ;)

I don't see Square fully canonizing that ship because they've been pandering to the other Cloud ships for 30yrs. Like SC's are definitely going to be annoying but that puts them in the same boat as CAs and CTs. Those two ships also have a ton of ship bait but nothing ever comes of it.

Like Cloud and Tifa literally kiss in the Gold Saucer date and are implied to have slept together underneath the Highwind and they STILL aren't endgame 😭????? Then all the romantic moments with Aerith, I think Square is just messing around with the fandom.

Like ultimately I don't care if people like SC, even though I dislike it, but attacking female Sephiroth fans pisses me off to no end. Like your ship is still FANON like the others, NONE of us are correct.

Sorry if this is long and I know you're probably tired of this discussion, but I just had to get this out there.

The fact anyone believes there’s even a CHANCE they’d make that ship canon is absurd. I’m just sooo over the superiority complex these shippers have developed. None of our ships may be canon but at least I’m not shipping Sephiroth in a way that paints him in a pedophilic, abusive light 🫩

I’ve spoken about this with some people in DMs but these shippers need to realize there is NOTHING romantic about how Sephiroth treats Cloud— because ITS ALL PROJECTION. He is saying word for word things that Hojo once said to him, things that the fake Lucrecia in his dreams used to say to him. SO HOW IS THAT ROMANTIC IF IT ORIGINALLY CAME FROM HIS PARENTS??

And that scene from the trailer they’re using as their “evidence”: Cloud isn’t seeing Sephiroth. He’s seeing Aerith, 1000%. And I FIRMLY believe that scene is showing us how Sephiroth ends up with the white materia: he uses Aerith’s image to fool Cloud into giving him the WM that she gave Cloud towards the end of Rebirth. And we already know Sephiroth can make himself appear as someone else; he did it with Tifa in the OG. I’d even go as far to say that the Aerith we see at the end of Rebirth isn’t her; it’s Sephiroth/Jenova.

Anyway. I’m reallyyyy tired of shippers thinking that they can bully other people, especially in such a misogynistic/sexist way. Thankfully all the blocking I’ve done lately has eliminated 99% of it from my feed, but knowing they’re still doing this pisses me off so bad. I’m dreading when the game actually releases and they then take their anger out on us AGAIN once they realize their ship will never be canon, cause that’s somehow gonna be our fault I’m sure 🙃

Hiiiii quick questions cuz I’m curious👀

As a yumeshipper, are you the non-sharing type? And— What are your thoughts about your doubles(especially fem ones)?

I have absolutely no problem with other people shipping themselves with Sephiroth, and I’m actually friends with a ton of them over on Twitter!! (The one thing keeping me from leaving that app lol). As long as you’re not an adult selfshipping with Miniroth, I’m perfectly okay with all of it, regardless of the shipper/yume’s gender/sexuality/etc.

Only somewhat related but: the only ships I don’t like seeing for Sephiroth are the canon x canon ones. Most of them I just don’t care for or I personally HC it in a more platonic/sibling way, but there are a few that make me VERY uncomfortable (hint: anyone who was on the mission with him in Nibelheim, due to the age differences & those technically being adult/minor ships).

Maybe I’ll receive some hate for this but idc, some of you “yume shippers” (*cough cough* back in my day it was called self shipping *cough*) are insane. Telling people to DNI or blocking them because they also like your favorite character is absolutely fucking crazy and you probably need help if you’re that obsessed with a fictional character.

Sooga is not 10 feet tall…

Ok. I keep seeing posts on here mentioning that he’s anywhere from 9-12 feet tall and because I am a loser that has nothing better to do, I am presenting my evidence that proves he’s actually around 7’1”/215 cm or so.

Age of calamity just…. Sized everyone up/down in weird ways. Idk. I’m assuming they did it to make Sooga feel more “scary” or like a big boss character, if that makes sense. So anyway, Sooga is the same height/scale as the blademasters in AOC. Really, he’s sort of a “reskinned” one but with extra stuff (his hair, collar, swords, etc). The game even refers to him as a blademaster sometimes. Now… because I don’t know how to do render/model stuff, I tried to take a screenshot of him and a blademaster side by side in game. That… did not go well. Even on easy mode, the blademasters would not sit still for even a second so, this is the best I could get:

Now if we look at the blademasters in BOTW/TOTK, you can clearly see that they’re much shorter than they are in AOC. Here’s one compared to Link:

Now as for how I got my estimate of 7’1/215cm. It’s not the greatest method (and I suck at math so there’s no way I can figure it out through the render sizes). It seems people generally believe that Link is around 5’2”, and considering the amount of npc’s who call him short, I think that would be about right. So what I did was get on one of those height comparison websites and get a 5’2” guy and then put in different heights until I got one that matched where Link stands compared to a blademaster. And keep in mind, I’m not including the hair on Link or the blademaster in their height estimates. That and, the blademasters wear hoods, so I took a couple of cm off for that too. Another thing: obviously I can’t get the exact shape of Link/the blademaster so while it may look a bit off, I’m like 99% sure it’s not.

And there you have it. So while I can’t “confirm” Sooga’s actual canon height, I can at least prove he’s not 10+ feet tall, lol.

One year later and I FINALLY found solid proof thanks to a random twitter post I found. This person (zenhouixxxx on twitter) lined up Link and the Yiga models, with the Yiga models being their correct BOTW/TOTK heights.

So while I still can’t tell you Sooga’s exact height, I can now at least say with 100% certainty that he isn’t 10+ feet tall.
