Drabble idea: Angus grows up and has a child.

It’s a little girl, and this baby is the fucking apple of Taako’s eye.

He showers her with affection and gifts. He gives her ridiculous nicknames. He pontificates over her bright and glorious future and coos about how smart she will be and how many esteemed magic and science awards she will one day win. Every time Angus comes over to visit, Taako just stands by the door making huffy noises and doing a grabby hands motion until Angus sighs and hands her over. He sits her on his lap and makes magic sparkles appear in front of her and gives her tastes of frosting off of the cake they’re having and basically does everything a baby’s favorite person in the world SHOULD do.

So Taako is eternally salty that Kravitz is the baby’s favorite and pretty much has been from day one.

experiment goal: to determine whether smarties are an effective tea sweetener

hypothesis: smarties will sweeten the tea, but also introduce unwelcome flavor profiles due to their flavoring

procedure: procured one cup (≈12 fl oz) of Barry’s Tea Gold Blend black tea, hot. added 2/3 of a single roll of smarties candy (10 candies). wait for candies to dissolve, then stir well. tea will be sampled after stirring concludes.

addendum: control group was used. control sample consisted of one cup of the same type of tea, sweetened with white sugar. results will depend on the relative tastes of the control and smarties tea

results: smarties tea was significantly more bitter and less sweet than sugar tea. additionally, the smarties failed to dissolve in the expected manner, and when stirred, ended up breaking down into particulates that refused to dissolve. 

conclusions: because of the chemical/structural makeup of smarties, they do not function well as an ad hoc tea sweetener because of their reluctance to break down. it may be the case that crushed smarties would work better, but this experiment was intended to study how normal, uncrushed smarties would work as a sweetener

PAINT RESTORATION OF MESMERIZING

I saw this on Twitter. He’s using acetone, but a cellulose ether has been added to make it into a gel (probably Klucel—this entire gel mixture is sometimes just called Klucel by restorers, but Klucel is specifically the stuff that makes the gel). 

Normally, acetone is too volatile for restoration, but when it’s a gel, it becomes very stable and a) stays on top of the porous surface of the painting, and b) won’t evaporate. So it can eat up the varnish.

It looks scary, but acetone has no effect on oils, and jelly acetone is even less interactive with the surface of the paint or canvas.

Hey followers and anyone else who may find this. 

I (modJustice) run a guild on Guild Wars 2 called the Crystal Helms. This guild has been around since 3 days before official launch (pre-order prelease) and over the years we have fallen into disrepair… I’ve recently quit the game that sucked my time and I really want to make this project a thing again. That cannot happen without new members. 

That’s where you all come in. Guild wars 2 is free to play now. Heart of Thorns costs a bit of money, but if you’re the type who is good at grinding in game money, in theory you can get HoT for free, otherwise it is like $50. Yes it is an online multiplayer rpg, but if you know anything of guild wars, once you buy it, it is yours with $0 monthly costs forever… I will stand proof of that with the 1k + hours I’ve put into gw1, and near 500 hours into gw2. Never had I had to pay beyond the original game cost. 

My goal is a guild hall within the first week of HoT being out.
