I've been holding off posting about this here in case I hated doing it, but actually making a little book every month rules so: I'm doing a monthly zine subscription for 2026 called THE VILE DEED.
THE VILE DEED follows the narrator and Naius, two men on a pilgrimage to perform an act of religious service for the new high king. Set in a fantasy world, The Vile Deed features mature themes such as war time violence, rural horror, revenge, religious zealotry, and much, much more—all packaged in the tenor of a travelogue written by your new best friend.
You can find out more about it and subscribe on the ko-fi HERE.
Each volume comes with a single novella chapter and an accompanying limited run linocut miniprint. Because I'm using this as a learning experience and doing all the editing/binding more or less myself (with thanks to my partner and roommate for their eyeballs and extra hands), I'm trying to make this as close to free as possible but welcome extra donations for postage and/or material costs.
dropped an embroidery needle on my floor in the dark and couldn't recover it so hopefully a bug is about to use it as a sword and go on some adventures and shit
love how the goblin emperor is like a very particular bildungsroman with almost no magic, focusing on the social and emotional agonies of the fantasy of manners genre and reconsidering the classic fantasy 'quest' as a more strictly internal journey... and then you go onto the cemeteries of amalo and it's like ok so othala celehar is getting his shit absolutely rocked by the Zombies That Eat Prelates rn but after he's suffered his physical and mental wounds he'll probably go to to the teahouse and you say yayyy the teahouse #theteahouse
Everyone needs three hobbies: one to give you carpel tunnel, one to leave you sore and bruised, and one for your distant relatives to insist you monetize
Some of my favorite quotes from Artemis ii so far:
"Copy. Moon joy."
"I have two Microsoft Outlooks, and neither one of those are working."
"Houston, if you could give me about 20 new superlatives in the mission summary for tomorrow that will help out my vocabulary a little bit, that would be great. Thank you."
“If you’ve ever seen the top of the spotlight of the top of the Luxor at night in Vegas, this looks like what it wants to be when it grows up.”
"To all of you down there on Earth... we love you, from the moon."
"We just went sci fi."
"It is so great to see Earth again. To Asia, Africa, and Oceania: we are looking back at you. We hear you can look up and see the moon right now. We see you too."
"We will always choose Earth. We will always choose each other."
“It’s a bright spot on the moon, and we would like to call it Carroll.”
The final stage of every OC's creation is having to go through websites like this to name it:
When you're unsuccessfully looking for something and start gradually increasing your It Could Be There range. Like yeah sure maybe the rice cooker pot is in the freezer, idk
