Yes, for any fellow Texans out there - Gracie's 20ftx10ft non-native giant ass was finally found and brought back safe.

My poor step mom got the bale buggy pinned under her brand new f350's chrome rear bumper this morning. Ended up snapping a pry bar trying to pop it free and sent my arm flying right into her oversized exhaust tips. Initially just kept going bc you tend not to feel those kinds of things for the first few minutes, then looked down and realized I was pouring blood all over the place.

Next thing I know, I'm leaning against a trailer getting doctored up like one of the damn horses... but I told her I'd try not to rear back when she hit it with iodine, so at least I didn't get haltered and tied up hahaha. Anyways, got it all cleaned out, glued shut, and wrapped, then levered the trailer free with a stray T post and was able to finish up hauling feed, loading bales, and feeding/watering before heading home to the AC and an ice pack.

I didn't take pics bc it was gross, so here's a pair of the mares scratching eachothers' backs instead.

We have a friend that works for the ASPCA who thinks he is a mountain cur mix.

Thank you! That is one awfully handsome pup. And rescues so often make for the best dogs. It's almost like they know and make it their mission to spend their lives repaying that one act of kindness by going so far beyond what any of us mere humans expect that we end up being the indebted ones haha.

Always did prefer a hackamore to a bit. Used them a lot when I was younger, but training circumstances led to pretty much everyone in the brood responding better to a bar of metal in their mouth nowadays.

No, you couldn't. No leisure in the bread line. According to people I know who actually had to stand in bread lines when they were younger, there always would have been certain individuals who would aggresively cut into line, so you'd have to stay alert. And if you were unlucky the bread was sold out once it was your turn to purchase it. Bread lines would have been a stressful shopping experience.

Even beyond that there's no rest, because you never know when a line might pop up.

A couple I'm friends with that moved here from E. Europe (to keep it a bit vague) said you'd be walking somewhere, see a line, and basically just go stand in it. Didn't matter where you were going, didn't matter who else was there, and didn't matter what the line was for - and apparently you often didn't know what it was for. You simply stood in line anyways and hoped whatever it was they were handing out was still available by the time you got to the front, because you knew you needed it.

Enjoying a solid deviation from my usual play style for a little metallish solo contest.

Doubt I'll win with some of the absolute savants I've seen already lol, but it was a fun task to tackle and well outside my comfort zone.

I've been complaining about particle board a lot lately. I was just looking at bookshelves at one store. They're $200 and still particle board. It was beefier than the bookshelves I have so it's not AS flimsy but it's still just sawdust and glue go fuck yourselves.

Even at $50 a sheet I could make my own bookshelves out of plywood for half the price. I don't have the tools to make it or the experience to make it really well but it would be sturdier than sawdust and glue.

I went through the same thing when I started putting stuff up in my cabin a couple years ago. Almost everything I wanted ended up being made of 2" planks and plywood after seeing the prices vs. quality available for premade stuff. I'm now convinced that making, salvaging, and keeping an eye out for random lowballed antiques at garage sales and such is the way to go.

Out of the sauna and into the mud bath.

Had a lil buick bottom out on the road after a few hrs of hard rain, and the kiddo's track meet wasn't gonna wait. Ended up digging out the front end, sawing off the splash guard, and surrounding the tires with rocks to get them past it.

Those early morning door knocks in the middle of nowhere will snap you awake quicker than a pot of coffee hahaha.

The 2014 Ram I use for hauling on the ranch had a back window roll down randomly today with the front ones (despite not pushing the button), and now it won't roll back up. Gonna end up doing a half dozen button combo rain dances to see if the system will respond, then checking fuses, then possibly pulling the panel and just doing it by hand.

You know what never gets a short or rewires itself on a bumpy road?

These fuckers.

Nevermind. Ended up fighting off mosquitos en masse while removing the panel... and lost that battle real quick.

No lie though.

One of the things I loved about working manual labor is that you could eat whatever you want whenever you want and never hit the gym. You just are healthier in general (until it starts grinding your joints to powder ofc).

Working a job sitting on your ass all day, even if you're driving in the heat, hopping out every 10mins, and hauling packages like my current gig... it just isn't the same. I gotta watch my caloric intake, time my meals, keep a set of weights around, etc.

Feels much more "bro" than "man" at the end of the day hahaha.
