Venus Williams about Jannik Sinner's Round 2 loss at Roland Garros:
āOne of the biggest stories of the tournament was Sinner suffering from whatever happened on the court: heat, or cramps, and all the things.
āSo, Sinner has never won a match longer than 3 hours and 50 minutes. So, what? He's done everything else. In my opinion, it's more of a fluke than a real stat. Not only insane conditions, but he dealt with it with his head up. He never quit, he never walked off of the court, he never considered stopping. And even [though] that was the worst circumstances, not only does he handle winning well, he handled losing with such grace and such poise.ā

"Next Monday, at the age of twenty-two years old, you will become the first Italian ever to be number one in the world."
devastating....
maybe itās cause we havenāt seen him in a while but i think this is the prettiest iāve ever found him
It's interesting to read "the level of this RG is so good now that Sinner and Alcaraz are out" because they were assuring me that every other player in the world was a khia and Jannik and Carlos only beat them consistently because of thatš¤ so I'm confused, is the entire rest of the field week or the level of this RG is high? It can't be both.
anyway remember when they pranked the players and everyone was confused and staring at whatever the fuck was going on in that elevator, but jannik saw the spa and went "well, don't mind if i do"
uk, if it was any other team or player, Iād brush off the heat and cramp and health issues as just innefficient conditioning or something like that, but this is Jannik weāre talking about, same Jannik who wants to change his serve in the middle of the season, same Jannik who doesnāt hesitate to say it like it is when speaking about what he needs to improve.
He also has an incredible team around him who make no lazy attempts at helping him progress his game and mind and everything they can, so this is why I cannot adopt the lazy excuses people are using saying āoh his team needs to find a solutionā acting as if him and his team arenāt some of the most hard working in the sport. You donāt get to Jannikās level by being complacent, and that is why I get scared because if there was a straightforward solution I know they would have done it already.
But like both Darren and Simone keep mentioning, Jannikās peak as a tennis player will be reached in the next years to come, so it shows theyāre hopeful he can overcome this issue.
His career is going to be a hopefully long and amazing one and it is so admirable how far he has come already and in the little time since he has actually started producing the results the world expects of him now.
"Save Roland Garros, Casper". "Do it for tennis, Casper"
