As some of you may know, Rose doesn’t have a tail, sort of.  She was a past feather mutilator since she was living at a sanctuary, and now all she has is a scarred up nub of a tail where the feathers grow in crooked and uncomfortable.

She needs a surgery where the vet removes the folicles so they can’t grow back.  And if they can’t grow back she can’t chew them and cause her self harm.

The pictures above are one of the many times she has chewed blood feathers, the drips on the table was me following her around trying to stop the bleeding.

She needs this surgery, but I need help to have the funds to get her over for an appointment and pay my outstanding vet balance.

I want to somehow repay all of you that donate, send you a thank you letter if you’re comfortable giving your address, or posting your url on my follow forever i’ll make.

okay, whoever anonymously donated this please come forward. i am shook and in tears.

i don’t even know what to say.  thanking you isn’t even enough.  this is so SO much money, this is like RENT or a new laptop OR GROCERIES FOR 3 MONTHS. whoever you are, please come forward.  i need to thank you personally somehow and send you a gift or a card or SOMETHING. thank you stranger, you mean the world to me.

it has been what, 3 days and we are already at 860 dollars in donations and im seriously shaking. you guys are so fucking incredible. i just wanted to update you all, I made Rose’s first appointment on June 8 to have her examined and give her tail a look at.  From then, I will have pricing of how much surgery and hospitalization will be. hopefully my guess will be correct and won’t have to raise the amount.  i will by then have a paycheque under my belt to help out as well (though most may have to go to overdue bills, fml)

of course i will keep you all posted during the whole thing, and ill even vlog it.  the intro video will be coming to you end of this week/early next week!

Pugs are not cute

Pugs are not cute. Pugs are malformed, inbred, sick animals that should never have existed.

Dogs pant to cool themselves. As pugs have practically no snouts, they have trouble cooling their bodies and they can suffer from organ failure as a result.

Pugs are often unable to breathe properly due to their short snouts and compact breathing passages. This inhibits their ability to do things that dogs like best - running, chasing things, playing.

Pugs suffer from a mangled jaw from which their teeth grow in all directions.

Because of the distorted shape of their skulls, their eyes commonly pop out of their heads. 60% of prolapsed eyes become blind. Eyes put back in the skull are prone to infection and the dog may need treatment for the rest of their life.

Their eyes are also prone to swelling painfully, becoming scratched, and being irritated by their eyelashes.

When excited, pugs are prone to getting fluid stuck in their throats, making them choke or gasp for breath. This is given the cutesy nick name “reverse sneezing”. [video]

As it can be difficult for pugs to exercise, they are prone to obesity.

Some pugs are born with their nostrils pinched almost shut, making it impossible for them to live without an operation.

The wrinkles on their faces will become infected without constant, careful cleaning by their caretaker.

About 64% of pugs suffer from hip dysplasia (malformed hip sockets) which causes crippling lameness and painful arthritis.

Pugs have a genetic weakness to demodectic mange (a pretty nasty skin condition caused by mites).

Their curled tail makes them susceptible to hemivertibrae - misshapen backbones which cause spine bending and instability, neurological disorders, back leg paralysis, incontinence, and pain.

Pugs are so inbred that a study of ten thousand pugs in the UK had the genetic makeup of only 50 individuals. Inbreeding means that defective genes are more likely to be expressed and passed on to offspring.

Necrotizing meningoencephalitis (brain swelling) is common among pugs. Dogs with this condition usually die within a few weeks. 

I am so sick of seeing pugs being celebrated. Their small, squashed skulls, facial wrinkles, curled tails, and protruding eyes are actually valued when these characteristics are a cruelty in themselves.

Pugs are charming, sweet, funny little souls and they don’t deserve the bodies humanity has designed for them.

Stop celebrating pugs. Stop buying pugs.

they’re healthier, live longer and have all the pug benefits with none of the usual health issues because of the deformed skull

they have longer legs

making exercise easier, and yet maintained most of the pug looks, and yes, they have the pug grin

want a pug - get a retropug or retromop, a healther, happier, and possibly cheaper option

Why I Refuse To Support PETA

As most of you know, PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) produces lots of sexist, racist, fatphobic, and even ableist ads. Their ideologies match, unfortunately. They are incredibly unreasonable, too, and they effectively want to remove companion animals from human contact entirely.

Members of PETA have done the following to me.

Attempted to take my service dog’s leash

Threatened to take him away

Sent me death threats

Threatened to euthanize him out of “mercy”

Claimed that I am a “slavedriver” and “active participant in the speciesist h*l*caust” (Ah yes, please tell the romani-german-native girl that she’s basically a Nazi. Good idea.)

Left threatening voicemails on my phone.

Scared me so badly that I had to move house at one point

Grabbed my service dog

Tried to pry my hand off of my service dog’s harness

Threw paint on a faux fur-lined coat I was wearing (the paint got matted in my hair to the point where I had to shave my head)

Speaks openly on their hatred for service dog handlers.

Their “Adoption” services are a complete lie. Do not bring an animal to a PETA facility or allow PETA volunteers or employees to take an animal. THEY WILL KILL IT. 

Their own documentation shows that they euthanize approximately 90 - 97% of all animals they take in, on a yearly basis. This includes everything from seriously injured/ill animals, to healthy puppies and kittens.

They support Breed Specific Legislation, and call for the mass extermination of all “Pit Bull-type dogs”.

if there is anyone out there who doesn’t know this - this is really important. PETA kills and terrorizes animals. They do so for their own propaganda and in turn, profit. There is nothing ethical about their treatment of animals let alone other human beings.

Their position is, supposedly, that animals are equal to humans and as such use really ableist, racist, and wildly inappropriate metaphors that undermine real human oppression and suffering. Often just for shock value. If they applied their principle, then they are basically saying that mentally ill or struggling and homeless humans should be put to death on mass.

In addition to all of the above, they also promote the idea that dairy products cause autism.

Plus, they harassed Steve Irwin’s family while they were grieving his death.  They’re pretty terrible.

The Humane Society of the United States and the SPCA are where it’s at, if you want broad, effective, and ethical animal rights organizations on a national scale, though you can be really effective seeking out your local no-kill shelter or wildlife refuge.

May 4th was Rose and I’s 6 MONTH ADOPTAVERSARY!!!

i can’t believe we’ve been together for only six months.  it feels like its been all my life yet also feels like last week i brought her home.  she has changed my life for the better, and has taught me patience, unconditional love, and that even though you can be dragged through hell and neglect and horror you can ALWAYS heal and come out still, full of love. thanks Rose for saving me and letting me save you.

hey guys, im sorry to make another post regarding donations. but unfortunately, Rose’s vet bill is double the amount from what I presumed.

a little history on rose’s ailment:

so what happened a couple months back was Rose laid a soft shelled egg (a symptom of calcium deficiency) and she laid the egg because she loves me omfg.

anyway, i rushed her to the vet where she needed several appointments of ultrasounds, oxygen, lupron injections (birth control), and calcium vitamins.  now she is taking milk thistle since her liver isn’t doing too hot - from poor diet from being in the shitty “rescue” she lived in for god knows how long.  she needed around four lupron injections, all around 100 dollars each. other costs are outlines in the invoice i received above.

why i am asking for your help:

before my giant mess of mental illness decided to crop up again, i was working a really well paying job and could pay the prior bill (with some help from you guys out there who helped me raise money to assist, since i was JUST employed and was awaiting paychecks) so with your help, and my money i was able to fork the 700 dollars over for her treatment.

right now, i have had to move home due to my panic disorder, ocd, and general anxiety disorder. i’m back home with the support (financially and emotionally) from my parents. i moved out of town from my work, and due to health i was forced to quit. unfortunately, we are not very well off and since Rose is my responsibility, it is not their job nor can they afford to pay it for me.

since i’ve gotten sick, i’ve had to cancel phone bills, internet, etc and owe money for rent since i forfeited my lease. i have around 2000 dollars in bills to cover once i start working, which will hopefully part time soon. not including medication and therapy.

so moral of the story, my life is in the pits and i really would love for you to help ONLY IF YOU CAN. i do not want you all going broke for me, take care of yourself first.

yea i was actually wondering about some of these breeds as im interested in getting a pigeon in the future and looking at some of these breeds…and wow why would people even find some of these to be even remotely acceptable let alone desirable

I have no problem with embellishments of color, fancy feathers, and little tweaks to posture, so long as the bird is still bird shaped and able to function comfortably.

But yeah! There are SO many breeds of pigeon so drastically misshapen that they can’t function as birds! Going down a list of pigeon breeds and looking at photos of each one, you would be amazed and disgusted by how low the ratio of bird shaped to detrimentally outlandish is.

You would probably be straight up sickened to know that there are over ten beakless breeds.

The African Owl, the Turbit, The Modern/Oriental frill (The COF is to those last two what the Retro Mop is to pugs, one more reason I SO enthusiastically support the breed.)

The American Fantail’s head is supported by its fan of tailfeathers. It’s neck curves back so drastically that its head LITERALLY sits on its ass.

The Short Faced Budapest has eyes bigger than its skull.

The Barb’s cere (the flesh around the eyes) is SO large and swollen that cocks usually don’t make it past three years because is grows completely over the eyes, mechanically blinding them and culturing bacteria in the moist crevices.

There are SO many… 

And if you talk to their breeders, what they are interested in is the challenge of breeding a bird into these shapes.

They are the equivalent to genetic modern art, and that is ALL they are.

Their breeders see themselves as sculptors, and see the consequences to the birds (ranging anywhere from being incapable of sitting eggs or feeding young to blindness to being basically unable to MOVE) as an exciting challenge. “Only the most advanced breeders can successfully rear these~”

How stiff and locked their attempt to just take a step forward is.

The way they have to try to slingshot their heads over their chests to see, but can’t actually hold them up.

Now imagine them trying to peck food out of a dish or reach to drink water…

It will hurt you.

It hurt me to see them in person and hear their breeders brag about how “only the most advanced” can successfully raise them.
