FML
So I just moved into an apartment a couple of weeks ago. I’m cooking dinner and as I’m waiting, I decide to fill my salt and pepper shakers. I keep my spices in cabinets above the fridge and as I’m moving stuff around, one of the bottles falls out and rolls behind the fridge. (I’m pretty sure it’s the parsley.) We’re talking a brand new, hasn’t been opened thing of spice here, so I’m like “okay, I’ll just move the fridge. No big deal, right?”
Wrong.
I start to wiggle the fridge out and one side is sliding fine, but the other isn’t going so well. Please note I have a narrow kitchen so it’s not super easy to begin with. I keep pulling. I get about halfway out and by chance, I look down.
The floor is ripped and bunched up around the leg of the fridge. I freak the fuck out and push the fridge back in. The tear is in front of the fridge and it looks really, really bad. The rip looks like an X and is the size of a tile. Turns out the flooring is just a soft cover over some older, harder linoleum. My freaking out is reaching maximum levels so I call my mom. Should I tell my landlord now or wait till I move out? I haven’t even been here a month and I’m already breaking shit! She calms me down and says we’ll see if we can fix it but there’s nothing we can do right now. I have a rug covering it for now.
I’m just so freaking upset that this happened. Granted, it would have happened to anyone who moved the fridge but still. I didn’t even get my spice out! Goodbye security deposit!
Don't know if will make you feel any better, but Leah and I might have ripped the paint off the walls in two different spots already. 🙃
All aboard the Struggle Bus!!!
