playing the love island game has really got me lost in the sauce because in the game casa amor is like a hop skip and a jump away (on the other side of a wall) but it's obviously not like that in love island usa (the villa in fiji). but i don't know why it just now occurred to me that casa wasn't just outside the gates of the fiji villa until i saw a tiktok showing the villa on google earth 😭 omg i felt so stupid LMAO

breaking news: i finished s11 of litg (summer nights).

i pulled 1 all nighter and almost a muscle rolling my eyes at vida. here are my notes!

to preface, i'm a s2 loyalist (many of us are). i'm basic i guess, i was a bobby girl through and through, and i was missing him so i settled for a season where i could make an MC that's not atrocious lol

which takes me to my first point - what the hell has happened to fb's art style? i was honestly offended by how ugly jace was, and later reid and so on. they all just look kind of... off. and as i said the art style for MC wasn't that bad, but why are ALL the hairstyles paid? most of the good hairstyles in s2 and s3 at least were free - now they're ALL paid?? cash grab much???

however despite that, i do enjoy the fact they brought back MC being the hottest in the villa! it's basically dealer's choice the whole game

anyway. i went with callum, mainly because of his sun tattoo (simply put i recently got a sun tattoo in the same spot irl)

i could FEEL the coding in many scenes but overall i liked him a lot, i stayed loyal the whole time mainly because while dominic was an attractive sprite, i couldn't get over how forced and obvious the route was, or how oblivious he was. i love a good pining moment but it just got to be too much. like get a hint

speaking of which - they completely overdid the "determined, mean bombshell" trope this season. vida, anna, sonya...

even though she wasn't a bombshell, i think zabrina fits the trope too. GET A NEW TROPE. 😒🙄

i hated vida to the bitter end lol, i hated anna at first but i was honestly bummed when she went home without a goodbye, and i liked sonya at first (she was a baddie and she seemed pretty upfront until she just got desperate), then i hated her, then i just started to pity her.

i was glad MC got to stand up to sonya though (the option to give her a most salty/bitter/sour award was hilarious to me, and extremely vindicating) i wish we could've done more of that with vida and zabrina ngl. they were almost worse.

alright this might be an unpopular opinion or maybe not who knows - but i kinda loved anna! and frankly, i think her desperation to get with our LI was a lil OOC. after the casa letter drama, she seriously grew on me. she was hilarious and i'll happily take her antics over episode 72,839 of esme/jace the telenovela.

i wish they delved more into maisie/kenzo and reid/ruby than both esme/jace and mc's dominic love triangle. their stories were both so sweet and i would've liked more meat on those bones

the elephant in the room - the baggage challenge - i was so pumped when we learned callum's engagement baggage in the beginning because of what baggage i chose for my mc, and i was bummed when it didn't give us the option to relate to him when he revealed it. like alright maybe mc doesn't want to take over the conversation but it feels like a decent spot to bring it up. i got over that eventually but how come callum can't connect on it, once he apologizes? it feels like lazy writing (or more like lazy coding 😐) and im not here for it. especially when they're capable of drawing THIS branch if you choose the baker career:

callum/tunde returning (separately) would've been a lot more exciting if they didn't play that card over and over again

i just want to rant about the dominic route again because why did they force it for SO LONG. literally almost until the finale? didn't even give us another option other than twisting with him for stick or twist (bullshit btw) and i swear no matter how downright mean i was to that man he didn't even take it down a notch. i'm sure callum behaves the same way in the alternate route where i choose dominic and that's STILL so fucking stupid. why does eavesdropping have consequences (barely) but not publicly humiliating my "partner" in multiple conversations and challenges? it feels so fucking stupid and no human being no matter how down bad would EVER put up with it for THAT long. in s2 if you neglected ONE dialogue option with noah you closed the route completely - where is that skill 9 seasons later, fusebox?

i understand the sentiment of an epilogue scene in paris but 29 gems for a restaurant date is ridiculous. not even a monumental moment just eating a goddamn pastry with the miraculous ladybug cafe in the background. waste of fucking money

anyway besides the fact that callum was an absolute light in this fucking hellhole of a season, i was so so delighted to see my BABYYYY JINNN in the finale <3 here are some screenshots i just had to take (it was so fucking hard not to click on "pose with jin" but i also laughed out loud like with all their flaws fusebox fucking knows their audience)

lastly although i have quite the haul of complaints, i did enjoy the season enough to invest about $90 in gems/tickets AND complete it, AND come back to tumblr to actually content create, AND start a fanfic (and moodboard) about callum because i got struck by lightning with inspo while i was doing my skincare. so keep an eye out for a little baby fic and i'm looking forward to getting reinvested in this silly little game <3
