I'm beginning to believe that the majority of that story Modri told us is fabricated. I think they're false memories planted in his head by Undertaker. The story is just too shady, literally. Think about it. We can't see Sebastian's face. But not only that, we can't see any of the others' faces either. Why? In all of the other flashbacks we clearly see what's going on and who's doing what. A clear memory because it's a real memory.

So, guys, here's an absolutely insane theory. It's totally possible that someone's already come up with something like this before, but still...

What if Undertaker has already killed the people responsible for the deaths of Vincent, Rachel, and r!Ciel? As we can see, he took what happened to the Phantomhives extremely personally — to the point where he started experimenting with resurrecting corpses.

Given his supernatural abilities, as a former reaper he could easily have tracked down and eliminated those who caused the tragedy of the Phantomhive family.

And you could say that revenge isn't really Undertaker's style, but... considering that he knew about Sebastian's demonic nature from the very beginning and was always very displeased about Sebastian's contract with o!Ciel... I wouldn't rule out the possibility that he might have tried to sabotage the deal by preventing Sebastian from fulfilling its main condition.
