i need everyone to stfu. each time i see ‘blackwashing’ discourse tweets or post points i am filled with more rage each time like SHUT THE FUUCCKKKKK UPPPP!!!!! SHUT UPPPP!!!!

why are we unironically treating the word “blackwashing” as if it’s a real term now??? and using it to tell other poc they’re ‘blackwashing’ the character by making them darker or a realistic skin tone.. omg i seriously don’t have the energy for it. i don’t.

but when it’s whitewashing (which is actually harmful and has a real historical textbook documentation) oh “it’s just my art style… guys drawing different ethnic features is just so hard.. it’s basically impossibleeee 🥺🥺 please give artists grace when the source material doesn’t give us much eitherrr. if i did, it wouldn’t look like them anymoreee 🥺🥺🥺” <— literally saw a tiktok saying exactly this in simple terms.
