rereading my own fanfic for flow like damn this is fire why tf isn't there more of it. but of course i am the one who has to make the more of it
shoutout to everyone in small fandoms who takes a character with one minute of screentime and decides to build an entire universe around them. to the oc creators, the rarepair shippers, the canon-divergence enthusiasts and the people who can’t stop asking “but what if?” and then proceed to spend 50k words answering their own question.
i genuinely think your joy is contagious. fandoms grow because people see someone having fun and think, “wait, i want to play too.” <3
Your character doesn't need to be likeable. They need to be legible. The reader needs to understand every decision they make even when it's wrong, even when it's ugly, even when they want to shake them. Likeable is easy and forgettable. Legible is what makes someone stay with you for years. Make the logic of every bad choice visible. The reader doesn't have to agree with it. They just have to follow it.

Update on Blocked Logins
We have temporarily lifted the block preventing users from logging in to AO3 with an insecure password. If you have been receiving this message recently, please immediately do the following:
Log in to your account using your compromised password.
Verify that the email on your account is one that you have access to and that it is up to date. a. To do this, go to your Preferences page and select "Change Email" at the top of the page. Your email address will be listed on that page, next to "Current email". b. If you don't have access to this email account, update your email before you change your password. You don't need access to your old email address to change it to a new one, as long as you also know your current password. c. If you do have access to this email account, copy-paste the email address so that you can correctly enter it into the password reset form. If you do not enter your email address exactly as it is listed here, you will not receive the password reset email.
Change your password to a unique, strong password by following the steps in our Archive FAQ: How do I change my password? a. We strongly recommend that you use a password generator to select a new password. Most browsers and devices have a built-in password generator, or you can use this one: 1Password's Password Generator. b. Use a password manager to set and remember your passwords for you. If you don't want to install third-party software, you can use the password manager provided by your browser or device.
If you are still unable to access your account, you will need to work with Support to complete the account recovery process described in the previous post. Please provide them with your username and the name of the email account you have lost access to. You must wait at least a week so that Support can check that the original email address is truly inactive, and provide multiple forms of evidence that the account is truly yours. The account recovery process will not proceed if you are unable to provide sufficient proof that you are the owner of the account.

protect em dashes.
protect “not x, not y, but z” format.
protect short sentence stacking as a stylistic choice.
protect fanfic writers—who are kind enough to share their works with people to read for free—from ai witch hunts, speculations and accusations.
“don’t like don’t read” also applies to any fic that is ai-generated and any fic you think is ai-generated by the way. if you don’t like what you’re reading for any reason, you can always stop reading and exit the fic at any point. but harassment is never ever justified. no matter if you think you’ve found a noble excuse to do it. and also…
witch hunts, speculations and accusations harm the writing community as much as ai does. if not more. I don’t want to see another innocent writer get driven away from the community because someone decides to harass and accuse them for using ai just because their fic happens to have “ai telltales” — the same telltales ai got from having been trained on millions of human-made works to mimic how real humans actually write.
Your emotional scene that you've edited five times doesn't hit to you because you read it five times, not because it sucks.
The reason your snacks are unsatisfying is that you need both carb and protein.
Carb starts your engine, protein keeps it going.
No carb, engine don’t start. No protein, engine dies out fast.
Easy carb add on:
Cookie
Fruit (canned or fresh)
Chips
Piece of bread
Popcorn
Crackers
Easy protein add on:
Nuts
Spoonful of nut butter
Cheese
Roasted chickpea snacks
Glass of milk (dairy or non dairy)
Small canned sausages or similar
Sugar in there.
I am pleased by people messaging me telling me that after adding a carb or protein to their snacks or meals they feel more satisfied all day. Yes, my plan is working. People are getting through their days with less hangry.
gonna be honest i don’t know how many more ‘enter the 6 digit code we sent to your phone’s i got left in me
I am in shambles
Atsushi: Your family line deserves to die with you, but its a shame it didn’t end before you
Akutagawa: I know that's supposed to be an insult but damn I agree with you
pop health science is so annoying bc it'll be like "did you know? eating strawberries will give you mega cancer" and you're like pfft whatever begone influencer. but sometimes then you'll see a reasonably credible article like "Study Shows Possible Link Between Strawberries and Mega Cancer" and you're not usually the type to follow that kind of thing religiously but idk maybe you should consider not eating strawberries? but then there's another article saying "Strawberry/Mega Cancer Study Debunked" and it turns out the original study had a sample size of 3 and was funded by Big Blueberry, and strawberries may have a small connection to mega cancer but only if you are genetically predisposed to mega cancer and eat 50 strawberries every day. so you return to your strawberry eating life. but whenever you eat strawberries in public someone tells you about the mega cancer.
