star wars side-blog, with a big love for the skywalker family, anidala/skyberrie, the original trilogy, and prequels. i follow back and interact on my main blog @faesoul.

⋆ i loved the films as a kid/teen, but became hyperfixated on star wars starting early 2025, and have only fallen in deeper since.

⋆ i'm heavily invested in anakin skywalker, as well as padmé amidala.

⋆ anakin is my favorite character, darth vader is not. when i reference anakin that does not equate to vader. my favorite villain is darth vader. i'll never defend any of vader's actions.

⋆ my primary canon is the original trilogy, and the prequels. secondary canon are the film novelizations. i consider the rest expansive– like the clone wars. i still consume a lot of expansive media!

⋆ i'm in the process of reading anakin's story chronologically through different legends novels. just because i'm reading a certain book, or series, doesn't mean i necessarily consider it (head)canon or recommend it! i just like to read and compare. currently reading: jedi quest series, & brotherhood.

⋆ i have jedi critical takes, i am not anti-jedi. i like to talk about fandom discourse sometimes, that doesn't mean i want to actively debate others. i don't dislike you, or have a problem with you if we don't share the same opinion.

the sheer tragedy of obi wan telling luke he needs to either kill his father or let the galaxy be enslaved forever is something we need to deny or skirt around. we need obi wan not to believe that. we need him not to have said that. we need luke to have both not heard and not disobeyed that. we cant sit with a narrative of biblical forgiveness. everything the good guy says needs to be correct with cited wookiepedia sources and everything the bad guy says is irrelevant. we need to do this. because having even a slightly critical take on a fictional religion is of course, how we get genocide. we have to obey and defend the fictional religion forever. see how boring you all are? see why you’re not fun to talk to???

i used to be a part of the pro-jedi circles because when i first came to the fandom i was fresh off the heels of reddit and thought it was annoying that dudes would larp as fascist vicariously through the empire and say the jedi all deserved to be genocided. also i didn't like the idea of grey jedi. so i followed some of like. the jedi appreciation group communities here. and my GOD. these bitches don't nuance!!! like ever!!

i love the jedi man, but after a certain point you have to literally be watching both tcw and the prequels with fucking. blinders on. to say they were all unproblematic faves and anakin was singlehandedly responsible for his entire fall/giving in to palpatines manipulation.

imo both the jedi order and anakin himself are tragic protagonists. you can't absolve one of blame entirely to pin all the responsibility on the other one as ontologically evil. anakin was deeply mentally ill and made poor choices yes but also???? THE FUCKING. JEDI ORDER. WAS DEEPLY INSTITUTIONALLY FUCKED. AND MADE POOR CHOICES.

and obi-wan and yoda, the representatives we have of its leadership in the ot, are specifically affected by that corruption!! their (especially obi wans) need to distinguish anakin and vader as completely separate people because they can't handle thinking about the throughline between anakin and vader, because they can't and won't believe that humanity is present in him, is the point! it is tragic and it is sad for them but it is also their fault.

star wars is a space opera and luke is an orpheus who brings his father back from hell after no one else thought it could be done. that is tragic and beautiful! i cannot believe people are disagreeing with you! it IS boring to sand off all the moral complexity present in star wars!

anakin is not someone who says they are “not interested in politics” IRL. those people are privileged enough to afford not having interest in politics.

anakin, on the other hand, is a character who is similar to people from disadvantaged identity groups, minorities, or from countries that are under-developed and over-exploited by “developed” western nations, etc.—people who have an avid interest in politics that decides their fates. they have such a loathing for it that it appears as disinterest when it is actually distrust.

when anakin says he doesn’t believe in the senate, he is pointing at the corrupt bureaucracy that keeps suffering and injustice alive in the galaxy. he is quite interested in a system that actually works for the people. he doesn’t have to give the politics interest or thought, his life from birth has demanded that he understand it. and he understands it enough to disparage it.

i'd like to believe that padmé is the reason anakin's hair looks so nice in rots. if anyone knows about curly hair care, it's padmé amidala.

and i'm sure there was a confused suspicion from obi-wan when he noticed a shift in his prior-padawan's hair– from the choppy padawan cut to thick, voluminous and shining locks. anakin insists he's simply using a new product. "and since when do you care about coruscanti beauty products and hair care?" but in the end obi-wan lets it go, because it's just another one of those obvious things.

just want to say this once, since i've had a random influx of weird, passive aggressive comments and interactions. (mostly from the same 3 blogs, that i've now had to block this morning, since it's only continued.) but the prequels and anidala are obviously something i love, me expressing that love is not an invitation to express your dislike, or problems with the films or ship, or whatever it is. so i'm just going to automatically block from now on. i usually try to avoid hard blocking at first, since i'm not against people having differing fandom opinions than me? but consistently commenting weird stuff makes me feel a bit anxious/uncomfortable. i'm not really looking to debate anyone, let alone with random strangers on my own pro-anidala/pro-padmé posts. this blog was created for the opposite of that. if you dislike the things i enjoy, that's fine, no need to let me know!

padmé amidala was an incredibly intelligent, selfless, hard-working, altruistic, good hearted woman. her life passion was to do good, and strive for good. to make change for the people of the galaxy.

her mind was powerful. she was a massive thorn in palpatine's side, lead an entire planet as queen at the age of 14- chosen by the people of naboo. (they also tried to change the constitution to re-elect her, something her people wanted, not her.) she was willing to die for and with her people as queen. she was brave, and self-sacrificing when it came to her duty.

despite having her own wants, and dreams of a peaceful future, she became senator– because she felt that she carried the responsibility of the people. she was sensitive and aware of the corruption within the senate before most others, and helped birth what eventually became the rebel alliance.

she fought, she gave, she lost everything. what she worked for, believed in, her dreams, her love, her life/ future. all in the most terrible and heart shattering way. so heart breaking– that the heart break in itself, killed her. (while pregnant btw.)

her tragedy is just as heavy within the story, if not more than a lot of characters within star wars. just because we don't experience it strictly through her perspective, just because her husband made the choices he made, doesn't take away from any of that weight, or who she was.
