I really love the concept of Leo crushing on his fictional idol. Since you do tend to idolize the people you crush on, even making you blind!

(I swear i remember something didn’t sit right with me about Captain Ryan’s actions, yet Leo kept glazing him)

Meeting each other was a bit messy !

It feels so weird (but satisfying !!) to finally draw properly that scene I had in mind for literally YEARS !

to be clear, I believe younger artists and minors can write good fics (not to say “fanfic must always be good” either because it is a hobby and I still believe that as long as it’s done with love and the artist’s joy, it is good) and I believe it’s good when younger artists and minors start making art at young ages.

that said, a lot of fanfics out there that you read and love are done by adults with kids, jobs and responsibilities. adults who have years, decades of practice under their belts. adults who don’t let life and responsibilities take away their joy in creating.

someone’s love and passion don’t suddenly go away the second they reach a certain age. so if anything, I feel sorry for people who say “adults shouldn’t write fanfics or make fan art” because what these people really say is that they expect themselves to stop having fun and finding comfort in things that bring them joy and comfort the second they reach a certain age. it’s sad that they put an expiration date on their own fun and source of comfort.

And beyond getting experience in writing: the older you get, the more life experience you gain - and that's also super important to write. Once you experiment more things in life, you have more first hand material to put in your stories. As you mature and understand your emotions and relationships better, as you get to process, sometimes heal, and all that - that's when you start writing good stuff. I look back at the stories I wrote at 15 and the way I approach my characters, emotions, and events are so different now. More rounded, more solid, more subtle, richer. Not to say I'm an excellent writer, far from it, but I also have more fun in the process because I feel I can write more from my own internal life experience library, if that makes sense, while at 15 I was mostly trying to emulate what I liked to read. Adults have always been in fandoms. It's our responsibility to make sure we put some boundaries if necessary, of course, but we're definitely here to stay. I am grateful for the adults I met in fandoms when I was myself a teen, people who inspired me, guided me sometimes, watched over us too, and I hope now I am like them. Never keep creating, never stop having fun !!
