You know, there's this cliché that teenage boys always eat massive amounts, but teenage girls really aren't that different if they're not suppressed by diet culture and body shaming. Like, I was a teenage girl who frankly just stopped bothering to fit into mainstream beauty ideals at some point, and I would regularly make myself just one big massive pot of pasta and devour it completely. This wasn't even stress eating or anything, I just genuinely needed the energy because you know, I was a teenager and my body was developing. I feel like so many teenage girls think they need to eat as little as possible to be petite and pretty, but the truth is that your body is developing just as intensely as teenage boys' bodies. Eat more, please, your body needs it.

Is it really just that "these days everyone just wants a diagnosis so that they can feel special" or is it possibly that what little accommodations and resources are supposedly available for the ever growing amount of struggling people are directly dependent on them having received a diagnosis?

1 in 5 underage girls are married. MARRIED. Just because it’s not always white girls doesn’t mean it’s not real, and just because people say “it’s just their culture” (as if that’s not an incredibly racist thing to say and such a shallow understanding of culture and people) as a way to ignore it happening doesn’t mean it’s any better.

Their genitals are being cut with razors without anesthesia for the sexual pleasure of adult husbands, and they’re being sold for necessities those in the West relish because our countries ravage their resources. But people only wanna bring that up if they’re bashing on Arab/Black people as a collective (even though that includes those very girls) and justify ICE/brutalization of immigrants.

Billionaires had a child sex trafficking island and no one has time to care or hold anyone accountable because they’re more nervous that a trans person will play a sport than they are that children were trafficked and eaten or that babies were starved so they could be used to fellaciate pedophiles.

Livestock animals are being beaten, branded, made to live knee deep in their own feces, perpetually impregnated, put in cages so small they can’t turn around, drowned, left to bleed out when butchers trying to meet a 175 per minute quota (if there IS even a limit) miss the bolt gun shot, workers getting exposed to unsafe working conditions in slaughterhouses, factory farms producing actual cess pools that devastate towns and unbelievable carbon emissions (especially nitrous oxide and methane), all for something entirely avoidable

But yeah whatever. I’ll just wake up every day and pretend like I’m not thinking about this all the time because if I say any of this in a way that sounds too patronizing or too preachy or too wokescoldy I’ll make people uncomfortable or frustrated so they’ll never want to hear about any of this again, much less try to do anything.

And even still I get the luxury to not think about it, or rather, to only have to THINK about it. People experience this.

If you have the time, please just talk about these things. Start conversations. Yes, donate if you can, but whether you can or not talk about it too. I know it’s not pleasant and it feels insurmountable but just spreading awareness does so much. It’s a start, and we really need a start.

It’s weird what people consider exercise. I remember I’ve seen like, people post data about how many steps people get and it said though it excluded steps from work. Or when I was at a doctor and they were asking about my level of activity and specifically wanted to know if I was like you know, going to a gym, going on runs or walks, biking, and I said I was mainly active through my work which was being a janitor and they didnt consider that to be physical activity like sheer amount of steps, carrying things, pushing things, running around, etc didnt mean anything because after that I didnt then go on a bike ride or go to the gym. I even tried to explain the amount of activity and exertion that went into the work but it didnt seem to matter.

Was just thinking of that bcuz I was just doing some gardening and It’s a lot of work carrying around pots and bags of dirt and digging in the hot sun.
