"Vanderhorst had been under the influence of MDMA and three litres of vodka she had consumed on the night of the offence last September, her lawyer Michael Hill told the court."
three. liters.

Jesus Tapdancing Christ... THIS is a good welt pocket and the people who designed Simplicity 2895 ought to be blasted well ASHAMED of themselves for the crap way THEY wanted a welt pocket made. *SNARLS*
This is how I learned to do it and a good example of what you want to see in a short form tutorial: pinning, pressing, seam finishing, good fabric handling.
I would mention that you can make the pocket facing with a small panel of your matching fabric that is visible and the rest in a lighter fabric to reduce bulk. That's a lot of denim layers for comfort.
HOT DAMN
What's your own equivalent of "Viggo broke his toe kicking that helmet you know". What's that one little bit of weird trivia that lives in your head and you cannot help but talk about when it comes up?
Mine is that the activist Malcolm X was sampled in the soundtrack of DS game Sonic Rush (and the tune is banging btw)
For me it's "Neopets used to be owned by scientology," because anytime I hear someone parroting that I feel compelled to tell the ACTUAL story:
The first ever outside investors to Neopets was in fact a group of scientologists, however they never actually influenced the content of the site (though there were apparently some attempts to add various concepts of scientology, which the actual Neopets team quickly shut down). Mainly they contributed to way the company itself was structured, and to how the site was marketed. However they did make ONE longstanding contribution to the site: the three scientology reps who would regularly visit the Neopets office to check on them would go on to inspire three villain NPCs on the site, who's whole deal was influencing people with promises of money and power to control major events from behind the scenes
Idk I just think that's way more interesting and also way funnier
this is the most underrated part of rockin’ and rollin’ yoda
Luke’s face is what makes this.
all of the numbers that are divisible by 17 sound so absurd. 51? 68? 85? ridiculous. 102? absolutely not. and don't even get me started on 119
34 and 136 i can believe, but i feel like i shouldn’t. it’s 102 in a trench coat
did we just run out of posts to make
no, i haven't made a post about every number yet
I'm sorry to let you know that 100,000,001 (one hundred million and one) is divisible by 17 and because of that, so is every 16-digit number that is four digits repeated four times e.g. 1234123412341234

“rocky HATE mark” is so funny bc it’s over something relatively minor but also u know that sentient rock holds a grudge. so taking inspo from grace naming a planet after adrian, rocky names a field of space debris after mark & gleefully opts to blow the bigger pieces up. grace sits there in silence bc ‘oh shit how am I gonna tell him about getting exiled from academia or god forbid eva”
that’s his little guy!!
so we all know the image of the cat covered in packing peanuts from the static cling page on wikipedia, right?
you know, this delightful little guy? an image from 2017?
not only is it on the static cling page, it's also on the pages for static electricity, triboelectric effect, electric field, eletrostatics and electrostatic induction (and you can also find it on this user page captioned "my fav photo", which i thought was delightful, and way down on this user's page)!
it's full description on wikimedia also reads: "Styrofoam peanuts clinging to a cat's fur due to static electricity. The triboelectric effect causes an electrostatic charge to build up on the fur due to the cat's motions. The electric field of the charge causes polarization of the molecules of the styrofoam due to electrostatic induction, resulting in a slight attraction of the light plastic pieces to the charged fur. This effect is also the cause of static cling in clothes."
except, i left out the last bit. the last bit reads: "Image cropped losslessly from File:Cat and styrofoam – electrostatic charge (235112299).jpg using cropgtk"
now, this means this isn't the full image.... so what is the full image? it's this!
now, what i find really endearing about this photo, is that, while this file was uploaded to wikimedia in 2015 (as opposed to the cropped version being done in 2017), the original picture is actually from february 2006! you can see this in the summary!
the picture itself actually originates from flickr, and it has a DELIGHTFUL little description:
unfortunately the original source and picture is long gone, but we can delight in the fact that it was preserved a decade ago on wikimedia after being transferred via Flickr2Commons :]
relatedly: probably no one has made greater contributions to Posting than dr roberta bobby
