If this resonates with you at all PLEASE, for your benefit, go read this tweet thread on “fawning”
There’s such enormous power in naming and understanding things, isn’t there 🙏
Oh shit
The tweet author also made this into an article, available here.
Thank you for sharing that link!
Lots of peeps on this post have asked things like “so what do I do about this?” which the twitter thread gets into but I know many will find the article more readable and it expands further and has additional resources. Check it out!
“I avoided those relationships where love was free and easy. Because it didn’t feel ‘earned,’ so I didn’t feel worthy.”
TWILIGHT (2008) THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY | “Öga for Öga” (2020)
the social norm of “its your ethical responsibility to be constantly aware of, and angry about, every bad thing happening in the world at all times, even if you can’t possibly do anything about it” is possibly the best way I can imagine to create burnout and cynicism and depression in a population, so good job guys
Also, nothing annoys bigots more than someone they hate being joyful.
“How amazing it is to find someone who wants to hear about all the things that go on in your head.”
— Nina LaCour
This is like the opposite of that Peep Show bit
Can’t believe I have to wait another 2 days to kiss this beautiful mug
Sleeping at the window ;-))

Oh, gee, I wonder why making people put their lives at risk for the economy might make them consider ideologies other than capitalism?
We were socialists the entire time!
“The axe forgets, but the tree remembers.”
This is a huge thing ESPECIALLY with kids. To the parent, they lashed out when they were mad and forgot about it, expecting the kid to forget too. To the kid? It was a big moment that defined your relationship with your parents. Stuff my parents don’t remember doing or saying were things that to me spoke very, very loudly, that I was not safe to be open and honest with my parents.
The axe forgets, but the tree remembers, indeed.
this is to be a funny addition to a sad post: my relationship with my mom started to recover - an effort on both our parts - when one day I lost my shit because she did my laundry without asking (dramatic I know, but trust me it was the straw that broke my back) and it escalated to a full blown argument where the past was being brought up. I couldn’t get her to understand that she traumatized me with how she acts on her anger and how controlling she is when she guilt trips me and threatens me, that those are things you don’t do as a parent, and me telling her that doesn’t mean I think she doesn’t love me. of course she was doing the whole parental gaslighty thing where they twist your words and pretend they didn’t say that thing that they said, but PLOT TWIST we argued over text and I got to send her screen shots of our conversation from like 1.5 minutes prior and now she is nice to me. (:
me when i finally watch the old hollywood classic that everyone berates me about never having seen before
