I actually love the Louis and Regina subplot because it really is a continuation of the way Louis has always treated women, as a source of emotional labour that he can throw money at and have them make him feel better. It’s Miss Lily all over again, it’s “paying a whore to sit in a room and talk with him”. Making Claudia was always about Louis’ feelings under the pretence of saving her from the fire. He wants to save Regina from poverty but it’s all to make himself feel better. She sees through him but she’s so broke that she can’t afford to say no
Just watched Perfect Blue but god I don't understand much apart that the main girl Mima is fucked up lol. But I still have an ask regarding the rape scene because it was really disturbing...like was it "real" or not ? I know the man say "sorry" at first but idk it really was just weird and so disturbing that idk. And who kill the men anyway ? lol yeah I didn't understand much I guess

In any case, long story short:
1- The rape scene is not real in the sense Mima is not being truly raped. It is a scene in the series Mima is playing a character in. However, Mima still perceives it as violence because it is a very strong scene that Mima feels deep down forced to do if she wants her career to advance. In general, the point of Perfect Blue is that Mima has a very weak sense of identity and she "becomes" her character. She starts as a pure and naive girl (the idol), she becomes lost as she changes careers (she plays a minor role without real character), she becomes "corrupted" by the industry (the rape scene) and becomes "dirty" (the sexy pics). Finally, Mima starts believing she may truly be a killer because she is playing the big bad in the TV series. However, that is not the case, 'cause Mima is not her character. By the end Mima realizes this and is able to catch the real culprit.
2- The real culprit is Mima's manager, who has been reliving her younger years through Mima. She projects on her and by the end she believes she is truly Mima. Mima stops her and by the end she is in a hospital. Someone could argue the story may leave it ambiguous if Mima is truly the real culprit and the manager is the scapegoat, but thematically I think it works more if Mima is innocent and appehends the real culprit. All in all Perfect Blue is a story about a child growing up and finding her own identity outside of society's pressure (the different roles Mima is asked to play).
I'm gonna say it, I do think that even the laziest person imaginable should have a roof over their head, food in their stomach, and access to healthcare
a lot of people are reblogging this saying that most "lazy" people are actually just disabled or that the concept of laziness itself is a product of our society's obsession with productivity. this is all true, but it is not my point.
even if someone WAS just lazy and simply didn't want to do anything but lie on the couch and watch tv, they should still have these things. it's irrelevant whether some people aren't actually lazy because everyone, including hypothetical lazy people, should have their basic needs met.
if we have the resources to do it, there is no defense of letting people die because they don't want to work, and much less because they can't.
I don't want lazy people to have basic necessities because they "actually" deserve them because they ARE working or CAN'T work. I want lazy people to have basic necessities because they are people, and we shouldn't leave them to die when we have the resources not to.

allow me to gush about the “my coven is claudia” scene yet again, this time about roxane duran’s line delivery. when madeleine is introducing herself before the audience, she sounds scared and exhausted, reasonably so given her physical condition and that she’s actively grappling with the fact that she and her beloved claudia are both most likely going to be killed in mere moments. there’s a pause between her introduction and her declaration of devotion to claudia, not because she’s hesitating to make her choice, but because she needs a second to physically catch her breath before she can say what comes next
because when she does say it, she says it unflinchingly and with a confidence that she didn’t have when she was speaking before. when she says, “i am the vampire madeleine eparvier,” she stutters over her words and gasps for air in between. but when she says, “my immortal companion is claudia. my coven is claudia,” she says it with the conviction of someone who has accepted her fate, perfectly and without a second thought. roxane’s line delivery is beyond perfect here, really capturing how, even though madeleine was scared for her life, having been kidnapped, physically assaulted, and told she had to choose between claudia and death, she was still able to make that choice right away. no hesitation
it’s also worth noting that english isn’t madeleine’s first language, either. she speaks it well, but we do see her struggle to recall certain words, speak in a way that’s a little bit clunky or overly formal compared to that of a native speaker, and slip back into french whenever it’s most comfortable for her. madeleine delivering that statement in perfect english, making sure that everyone in that audience can understand what she’s saying and what choice she’s making, even though she clearly prefers french and would probably have been comfortable speaking her native language right before her final moments, is so powerful. not only because it shows how ready madeleine was to declare her undending loyalty to claudia, but because it shows how the paris coven robbed her of everything she had in her final moments, even the right to speak her own language
but madeleine didn’t care in that moment. because she still had claudia, and she still got to die with claudia, and that was the only thing that mattered to her in the end. her coven was claudia. her everything was claudia
i understand that it's unreasonable to expect a band on world tour to play in every country in the world but i do think they should only be allowed to call it a world tour if they play in every continent. we need to make it embarrassing to say world tour and then not even step foot in africa
