How is your takeaway from this "oh no! They are banning asexuality!" They are banning being LGBTQIA+. They are just using a modern woke version of the acronym to define who they persecute. De facto they will only go after asexual people that go to pride parades or start advocacy groups or something. They're not gonna arrest you for not filling your sex quota lol

So I get what you are saying, but I think this needs to be understood for how bad it actually is. "they won't arrest you for not filling your sex quota" So, there are a few issues with this.

1. if you refuse sex with someone, they can accuse you of being queer and it will get you in trouble. 2. In some countries/places, forced marriages are a thing, and for the marriage to be consider legitmate, you have to "consummate it" aka sex. So yes, this is targeting the queer community but Asexuality is part of that and will be weaponized against people regardless if they are asexual or not. Hell, if it's bad enough, someone could get upset at someone because they are never seen touching or being romantically involved with someone. As always, prejudice has a wider net than the specifics that you are thinking of, and will always cascade in ways that you wouldn't have thought about to start with.

those were the days... Picture the scene: Monty Python's Flying Circus ran from 1969 to 1974. Nothing, I mean nothing, had been seen like this before on TV. To really appreciate their courage and brilliance you need to know something about these days when gay marriage was not even on the horizon and most people would lose their employment if they were outed at work. The first Pride Parade was in 1970 and it was only in 1973 that the American Psychiatric Association in their generosity declared that homosexuality was not a mental disorder. Being LGBTQ+ was gradually decriminalized in various parts of the UK and a bit later in the US starting slowly in the late '60's.

Meanwhile, Monty Python was winning over hearts and minds through the funny bone. Groundbreaking.

I think Graham Chapman, the 4th man to join the scene, being gay and being a member of Monty Python is worth noting. He had a partner, David Sherlock, and was publicly open with his homosexuality as early as 1972. I just think it makes a difference in how Monty Python treated queerness in sketches when one of their members, their good friends and collaborators, is himself gay.

To be perfectly clear, Graham was bisexual. I wouldn't want to nitpick on this post and potentially derail it needlessly, but Graham made evident in interviews that it was important to him that people i.d. him as bisexual.

so there's basically two reasons he would need to do this and they're both funny

his magical honda unsummoned while he was in Walmart; this means it's not even a real car and could look like anything and he picked or was forced somehow to pick a Honda Accord

his normal honda was left someplace while he came to Walmart by other means, and he can teleport the car to him more easily than he can teleport himself places

there's also the idea that he drove to walmart in his honda accord, and then when he got out he either forgot where he parked or wanted to skip like 20 seconds of walking so he just summons it right in front of the door

To not have to find a parking space, most wizards keep their Honda Accords in a extradimensional oubliette when not driving. This also saves on garage space.

The funniest part of A New Hope is that Luke Skywalker is a 19 year old who has not locked in yet and plays with toys and sleeps in his childhood bedroom at his aunt and uncle’s house and Leia Organa is a 19 year old with a mission to save the galaxy from fascism. Luke has never left his hometown, Leia just watched her planet be blown up. He’s peeved his uncle is asking him to do his chores, she’s imprisoned for resisting the government. You relate to them both but they’re on complete opposite sides of the 19 year old life stage spectrum.

It really is fascinating that basically every animal on earth that has some sort of skin integument enjoys a lil scratch. I mean it makes sense but like. Humans evolved from social grooming animals and we have perfect little grooming hands and basically everything on earth with scales, fur or feathers can basically be convinced to let us give them free back scratches. Humans don’t even get anything out of it other than the satisfaction of helping out. We’re just really good at it. What a useful creature to be put on a planet full of animals who can’t reach their backs.

With the recent filming of goblin sharks at natural depths, I've seen some people surprised that the sharks in the footage look like this

and not like this

and fun fact: the answer is actually really simple and it's maybe the coolest thing about goblin sharks! I've seen some guesses that it's because they're deep-sea sharks so they'll look different at depth (not a ton actually, we've had footage of them at shallower depths for years now and they look pretty much the same), but it actually comes down to their jaws.

Like all sharks, goblin sharks don't have jaws that are rigidly attached to their skulls (like we have). Shark jaws are only loosely connected to their skulls by ligaments, so they can "shoot" their entire jaws forward and outward. This is really good for grabbing things quickly, obviously, but it can also create a sort of vacuum to suck in prey (this is why very slow Greenland sharks have been found with whole prey sucked into their stomachs!).

And goblin sharks are, like, the undisputed champions of the jaw protrusion game. Their jaws are incredible even by shark standards, they can shoot out to like 10% of their body length! It's called slingshot feeding, and we've had footage of it for years, check it out!

So basically, the reason goblin sharks look different in the new footage is just because they're not swimming around with jaws fully protruded all the time! When relaxed their jaws look pretty much like other shark jaws.

You can even see the difference in other kinds of sharks! It's why white sharks in pictures like this

look so much different than when they're just chilling like this

Basically: yes goblin sharks really have been this cute the whole time AND they have huge nightmare jaws <3
