The Journey of Ink On a street without rooms the ink on these long forgotten walls cries out with a voice that…
Mama Bear
I love the mystery of not knowing
the secret power embraced in this frame
Of engaging in a moment that has already slipped into the past
but lies captured before me
Not knowing the depth of Mama bear’s aura
that makes her children’s sleep so sound
My eyes fix on Mama’s claws- not knowing how close to draw
to feel their breaths on my skin
Not knowing….
and loving the mystery of it

Still Homeless A few of us shuffle listlessly as we gaze at the tired hotel The Aztec Hotel looks to have given up…
Follow the Tears
Sometimes there’s a pressure in your chest
it might sit there like a rock
or threaten to burst out (like some alien thing)
….and it won’t go away
If you choose to visit this pressure
if you dare to come close…. and follow that trail of tears
you will be transported to the chambers of your heart
(its beat – tender and true)
but left empty by the passing of your loved ones… with nothing but…

The Way Back
Even when thousands fall
even when grief lines the skies
even when tears are the new rain
…the sun still pierces clouds
and winds usher in new hope
as the flow of healing begins

Outside My Window
the tv has been cruel to me lately,
with more and more bad news
about the numberless souls
who have departed
in droves
in torrents
leaving behind a deluge
of grief
and sorrow
Pushing the living
into an abyss of indescribable despair
….forcing the marriage of engaged thoughts
I don’t know what to do
and I feel guilty
because I’m overwhelmed
by having to stay indoors
bored and even more bored

Stories on the Move
Stories on the Move
Let’s take our stories with us
or let our stories carry us along
cradling us between letters
that form the padded walls of our minds
Down the narrow highway
straight into the river
without the rude interruption
of a paragraph
without the indignity of a full stop
…all letters defiantly dressed
in UPPER CASE glory
Yes…. let our stories carry us along

The Chosen; the Fallen the chosen are called to be as cities on the tops of hills with hope beaming
Silent Conversations
What thoughts must run through
the minds of grave-diggers and under-takers
as exhaustion leeches from their bones
…as grief fills the air
What conversation can be had
between the living
and the dead
as graveyards fill
and eyes fill
and lips quiver
as chests hitch
and minds wander
searching for the
right words
to say

Deepest Desire (in the era of Corona)
Let’s take our minds for a walk
through leafy-green parks
warmed by a thousand suns
paying homage to our lungs
…crooning ballad after ballad
whilst avoiding the coppers
and shutting our eyes to the signs

Conspiracies and Theories
Day 11 of National Poetry Month From the UK perspective, our leaders were altogether far too slow in their response to this pandemic. Here’s how I see it….
Fobbing us off with ridiculous theories of ‘herd immunity’
delaying testing with astounding uniformity
claiming stockpiles of PPE of unknown quantity
our spirits sullen from ‘stay at home’ conformity
even as one, we tackle a problem of…

Panacea
It’s Day 10 of National Poetry Month, and I’ve attempted a Chaucerian stanza. It’s always a little tricky trying to get a message across whilst keeping to ‘rhyme rules’. So, just in case this gets lost in translation, this poem is about appreciating the things you’ve had to fight for. Indeed, I’m of the firm opinion that sacrifice is a pre-requisite for growth and/or progress….so here goes!
How…

My "Robin Crusoe Phase"- Coping With Covid-19
My “Robin Crusoe Phase”- Coping With Covid-19
I don’t count the lockdown days anymore. What began as an enthusiastic rolling-up-of-sleeves-to-tackle-all-those-unfinished-projects battle cry…..has slowly morphed into large helpings of ice cream, huge chunks chocolate with lethal doses of Netflix!
I’m calling this the “Robinson Crusoe phase” of my “coping with Covid” strategy. Marooned in my living room, almost every aspect of life paused,…
