pros and cons of the different falsettos cast recordings

pros of the original (1981 and 1990)

-their voices are so interesting! like they don’t sound like “typical broadway”, they have unique sounds. also i love chip zien goodnight and thanks for coming to my ted talk

-it sounds,,,,,,,, softer idk it’s less harsh because it was recorded w older microphones obviously

-the lyrics were the originals

-less synth and more string section in this one, it just felt more bouncy and fun.

pros of the new broadway cast recording:

-some of the lyric hanged are actually really funny

-most young broadway fans know who andrew or christian are, etc etc.

-they made it sound different, which is kind of what theater is. it’s an ever-evolving art, and works can be changed around a bit!

cons of the original:

-i honestly couldn’t really find any but i’ll just nitpick

-if you’re used to new cast recordings, this can be kind of hard to listen to in a way, idk

cons of the new:

-the lyric changes..... sweetie.....

-the synth and some other weird instrument changes can make the songs sounds a whole lot different

-their voices are today’s broadway sound, so you don’t get as much variance as you did in the original

-ok but on this note i find that brandon has a bit of a similar sound to chip, but not entirely similar so i like that and i think if they were going for voice sound, brandon was the best replacement (but this is theater and there are no replacements unless u get fired)
