Today was unlike any other.
We received a few donations and with them, we had our first real meal in over a month. For the first time in so long, we didn’t go to sleep hungry. We cried, not from pain this time, but from overwhelming joy and gratitude.
To everyone who donated, shared, or simply kept us in their thoughts thank you. You didn’t just feed us. You reminded us that we’re not alone. You gave us back a piece of our dignity and hope.
But the struggle isn’t over. We’re still in need of food, support, and a little more light in these hard times.
Please, if you can, continue to help. Every share, every dollar, every act of kindness makes a real difference.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. And please, stay with us on this journey.
[Note: the fundraiser says I'm raising funds for Molly Guenther,… Peter Guenther needs your support for Support Haya's Family: Food, Water,

As more and more people are being forced to switch to Windows 11, Microsoft's most AI-malware-ridden OS yet, I've been putting together articles and links for how to undo the damage and save your battery, your RAM, your disk space, your privacy, and your sanity from this bullshit.
FIRST:
The easiest way to get rid of the majority of the bullshit that Windows is forcing on us, as of October 2025, is this one-stop-one-click debloat solution from a modern day hero:
A simple, lightweight PowerShell script to remove pre-installed apps, disable telemetry, as well as perform various other changes to customi
It's very easy, even if you're not tech savvy or get scared of pop up windows saying "ARE YOU SURE?" Yes, you are sure, I promise. This program takes maybe two minutes and will save you SO MUCH pain, time, and money (and exploitation).
Now that you've done that, here's the cleanup, to catch the little shit that the debloat might have missed (most of this will already be done by debloat, but hey, it's good to double check).
Microsoft wants to put AI everywhere on your PC, but you can take back control.
Even just reading about some of these features makes me angry. Fucking Copilot and "Discover" AI scrapers are in Notepad. NOTEPAD. And then there's this uncanny valley garbage:
No uncanny valley video calls for me, thanks! (Also, what else is it doing while it scans your face and listens to your calls? What else, microsoft? Because there was a lot of memory being assigned to this program for a simple "smooths your skin" add on).
Tired of Microsoft pushing ads throughout Windows 11? Here are the settings you can tweak to turn them off and reclaim some privacy.
The truly insane number of places they have stuck ads on your own home computer is sickening. Become Unmarketable.
Bonus:
Some background programs you probably don't need that are taking up space and how to remove them (Microsoft forums, 2024)
Your Samsung Galaxy Phone comes with 22 apps you don't need (Android Police, 2025)
How to disable the AI in firefox (still the only browser that lets you do this permanently) (Windows Report, 2025)
past all arguments with gen AI 'art' being pushed as a tool to make art more accessible, as a disabled creator myself, it's important to remember that:
a service that requires the stolen art of millions of uncredited artists in order to function
demands insane amounts of water and electricity, harming the environment and poisoning local communities around their data centers
used deliberately to take away paying jobs from real human artists so cooperates can save a buck, and frankly to my belief, implanted and encouraged the infighting so they could use us as a scapegoat and get away with it
it's capitalism, it's greed and it's ableist. That's not a tool for accessibility, that's a tool for exploitation
If you're thinking about moving on from Spotify, I can't recommend enough getting into modern MP3 players (more properly called digital audio players, or DAPs, since they play more filetypes than just MP3) and building your own music library.
There's been a massive amount of innovation in the lower end of DAPs, and you can get a lot for under $100. Here are the main ones I recommend:
Snowsky Echo Mini - This is the most affordable one, at only $65 CAD (I think it's even less in the US) and the one that I ended up buying. Designed to look like a cassette player. The main drawback is that the interface is slightly unintuitive and it doesn't have a touch screen, but I've been delighted with mine.
Hiby R1 - This goes for $85 USD, and is the most widely recommended of the bunch for its good UI and wide range of utilities. Has a touchscreen and buttons.
Tempotec V1 - Similar to the Hiby R1, although the specific features are slightly different. Also has a touchscreen and buttons.
Innioasis R1 (honourable mention) - Designed to look nearly identical to an iPod Classic, including a fully functional clickwheel The sound quality on this is notably worse than the other DAPs I listed above, and the Bluetooth is widely reported to be unreliable, but I have to include it for people who desperately want an iPod again (and don't want to shell out $300+ for a modernized Classic) and because it has an extremely active modding scene.
You will need to buy a microSD card to upgrade the storage of most of these, although these days you can get 250GB for under $20.
I can't speak for the others, but the Hiby also has an aux/headphones jack port.
Tbh, I find its UI rather dodgy, it needs a "back" button instead of just "next" and "pause", and the volume doesn't go nearly as loud as it should (even outside of headphones mode), but it's still a solid unit. Plus, I love being able to use folders, ala my ancient PJB-100.
Sorry, these all have headphone jacks - I thought that went without saying. Some of them also have a second port for 4.4mm headphone jacks.
Good to have fredback from someone with a Hiby. Personally the Echo Mini UI is really growing on me, though it has some limitations (tricky to figure out how to refresh your library; the rewind/fast forward function makes skipping songs and volume control have an awkward overlap; the file browser does not put your songs in album order.)
I suspect the Innioasis has the best UI of the bunch, since it’s so close to the way iPods work, but I have not physically handled one, and from what I’ve heard modding it is pretty much a necessity.
Good to know wrt aux/jack - I think it does bear pointing it out, since ports are vanishing elsewhere and these devices are just as much about preserving non-bluetooth audio hookups. 😓
I've had the Hiby long enough now to where I should set aside a little time and dive into its quirks, so thanks for this roundup.
If you're in the US military or National Guard, and are given an illegal or unconstitutional order, the GI Rights hotline (1-877-447-4487) is there to help give you the support you need to do the right thing by refusing it. It would be good to think about this now before it becomes a live issue for you and it would be smart of you to memorize that number.
It has been hard for me to talk about how what is going on with Israel and Palestine is affecting me personally, but I grew up in Gaza and most of my family still lives there. My father did not survive the bombings last week and I have not been able to contact my younger sister in days. I am try to being understanding that most people do not have personal connections to what is happening and therefore are justifying their silence, but is heartbreaking to see this misinformation being spread. What’s happening there is a genocide, not a war. It is not antisemitic to support Palestine, it’s not even antiemetic to criticise Israel. There is no grey area or neutrality regarding this, and it is so easy to find resources that will educate you on the subject. It is my people and my home being destroyed so I will never be silent about this, but I please urge everyone to get informed and start speaking up and finding ways they can help.
decolonizepalestine has tons of information on Palestine’s history/propaganda that has been spread throughout the years
UK citizens can email their MP asking for a ceasefire
US citizens can call/email their local government officials asking for a ceasefire
Jewish Voice for Peace also has many resources for ways for US citizens to get involved, including protests
Me, aged 14, reading Tolkien: Hobbits are considered chuldren until they are 30? How funky! Fantasy worldbuilding! This is so different from us humans!
stepped on a plum (overripe plum) (barefoot) it was on the driveway got out of the car and accidentally (didn't know it was there) stepped on the plum (warm) (on the ground) (it had fallen from the tree) barefoot (no shoes) wearing long pants (too long) (need to hem them) plum viscera got on them (the pants) unexpected plum on the driveway (hot plum) (97 degrees out) already super hungover (throwing up all morning) (should not have been driving at all) and I stepped out of the car (black car) (97 degrees out) and onto the plum (unexpected) (didn't know the plum was there) and it burst (plum nightmare on my only good pair of sweatpants) still we find ways to keep ourselves going from day to day
I’m having an unexpected galaxy brain moment about the concept of “reading something as a poem,” as if Poetry is something you do to the world instead of just a thing.
