Games from older consoles are being made less and less available to the point so much of the industry's history could easily vanish without
Preserving classic videogames from consoles past.
I'm just gonna slide this on in here for anyone that is interested in preserving old games. They take it very seriously too, they want an archive of every single game. Like, they have lists of every game ever released for a system, and once that system gets old enough, they add it to their archive and start collecting. Their latest addition was the Xbox 360, they opened that vault up in September 2022, and proudly announced they'd finished their collection of games for it back in April.
Also, while their game archives are almost entirely complete, they've got another project of archiving the manuals that came with those games, and that is... considerably less well filled out. Their collection of Xbox 360 manuals is especially rough, they've only gotten manuals for three games. So if you've got some Xbox 360 games kicking around, and the manual's still with them, please consider scanning them and submitting them to the site!
Game preservation is important, but people rarely consider preserving the manuals as well; I really respect Vimm's Lair for being so thorough in their archival work.
I've been using Vimm's Lair for years, I have yet to see a single bad link or virus on the entire site. It's arguably the safest and most comprehensive archive of video games in existence. Preserved history

Watched a documentary about abuse and advice one guy said to give children was, "Tell them that if someone is hurting them, to tell someone - and don't just tell one person. Tell as many people as possible, and keep telling as many people as possible until the abuse stops." and i really liked that
Bc so many ppl focus on the idea of telling A Trusted Adult, but even a well-meaning individual can fuck up and let abuse fall through the cracks or not know what to do
Whereas if a child tells LOADS of adults AND other kids, there's far less opportunity for an abuser to do damage control
Consistently telling their story and spreading it around disempowers the abuser to control and coerce the flow of information, or to utilise gaps and weaknesses in systems of reporting or welfare to isolate the child
Just really good advice. Not suprised I don't hear it more often.
I work with kids and sometimes we have to do safety lessons with them about like, not telling strangers on the internet your home address or something. And sometimes the kids wont understand why, so you have to impart upon them that, well, some adults want to hurt children. And thats kind of difficult to do, because you have to beat around the bush, both because you dont want to scare them (while still making them understand how serious it is) and because you might lose your job if you explain it too straight forward.
Luckily, for some reason, the villain of one of the most popular franchises with children for the last 10 years happens to be a serial child murderer. So when a kid asks why they shouldnt trust strangers, instead of hand wringing and humhawing my answer out, I can just say "we dont always know when a strange adult has good intentions with children, or when they are William Afton."
Here we have a woman named Neena Pal. She's trans. Neena works at a hotel that's currently going through a massive overhaul to its showers (and more broadly the bathrooms in-general, but mainly the showers). She's very glad that's happening since guests have been complaining about the poor quality of the showers at the hotel since she started working there years ago. Sexuality statement time, Neena is heterosexual.

I was commissioned to draw Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Greebo by @lesnahod ♥ (really, the best kind of commission you can give me :D ). So here is Nanny, proudly showing Greebo in a new cat-hat ( which was sent to her by her grandson, since it´s a big hit at Ankh-Morpork). Oh, Granny is a bit too happy to see the torment of this poor creature x_x
one of my favourite issues my mother has been faced with is her realisation that no matter how much she wants to be granny weatherwax, she has actually turned into nanny ogg
One eyed badly tempered cat included
Here we have a woman named Chen Lirong. She's trans. It's Lirong's fiftieth birthday! Her first since the printing shop she worked at for thirty closed. Yes, she worked there from when she was nineteen. She got given that jacket she's wearing as a joke by an old partner of hers because of that job, but she liked it so much she kept it even after the relationship failed. Lirong has gotten a lot of 'Wait, you're fifty?' reactions from her new coworkers today, which she was surprised by. Apparently most of them thought she was in her mid-late twenties or early thirties. Which sounds silly to Lirong, but then she remembered that she started HRT in 2012 so her view of what she looked like back in that age range would be a bit different than what people might imagine her to have looked like back then. It was an interesting thing to think about. Sexuality statement time, Lirong is bisexual.

Important information for writers who aren’t British but like to try to sound British in their British-y fanfiction
“Cuppa?” - you’re either bored or you’re offering it to someone providing a service in your home. Like a plumber, electrician or builder.
“Paned?” (Pron: pan-edd) - you’re in Wales, the question is rhetorical. You don’t have a choice, you’re having tea.
“Brew?” Or “Fancy a brew?” - Northern and you’re either a friend, familiar or been in the house long enough to warrant one.
You will also be judged for the amount of milk you have (clue: more is worse, because you’re weak, like your tea), and how much sugar you have (none is best, one is suspect, two is fine especially if a service man, above that will inspire disgust and horror).
To say nothing about your preferred choice of biscuit. And yes there is a hierarchy. And it changes based on geography and class.
I’d like to make an addition: if I yell out ‘anyone want some tea?’, that’s me saying ‘I’m making myself some tea, if anyone else wants some speak now or forever hold your peace’
