One of the most annoying genres of people on the internet are people who act like they believe science is one single monolithic thing. What makes ep9 work so well for me is that Caine earns his own redemption by himself instead of having the humans bring back a "fixed" or "rebooted" version of him... which would've been incredibly tragic from a Ship of Theseus perspective
