Curtis Gang x Reader

Dally-

ʚ ɞ biggest user of “geez, what’s the matter with you?”

ʚ ɞ lowkey does not notice a demeanor change until you're actually crawling up the walls, I really view him as a “huh” type of guy and he doesn't really get it until you snap at him

ʚ ɞ begrudgingly snatches some peanuts from Buck’s bar downstairs to tide you over until y'all can fetch some actual dinner 

ʚ ɞ yall may have briefly broken up due to this (for maybe like 3 hours then you get lunch and all is forgiven)

ʚ ɞ He lowkey gives me malnourished vibes but when he's got the cash he’ll drive y'all down and get a meal from the drive in   

ʚ ɞ Would lowkey jump someone for some cash just so you'll quit being feisty at him for no reason (there's definitely a reason) (he knows what he did) (actually he probably doesn't)

Ponyboy-

ʚ ɞ Oh my dramatic king

ʚ ɞ He gets it (he doesnt this boy smokes 10 packs a day his appetite is GONE) but in the sense that he knows the feeling (what a pepsi addict fr) so while youre snacking hes quenching his addiction

ʚ ɞ probably goes into some internal monologue he’ll journal about later about how you hate him and then he looks over to you munching on some chips happy as a clam

ʚ ɞ genuinely gets his feelings a little hurt, you definitely have to reassure him that you DON'T hate him you were just really REALLY hungry

ʚ ɞ Offers you a cigarette so you'll stop fussing (what a guy thing to do bro) 

ʚ ɞ kind of a “throw some orange slices and run” type of guy in these situations.

Sodapop-

ʚ ɞ The first time it happened and he was being all sunshiney like usually and you rolled your eyes in annoyance at something he did he was so worried that you were gonna break up with him or something but then yall had a milkshake and everything was peachy (he was relieved)

ʚ ɞ he now knows when you need a snack so he’ll slide you something from under the counter at the DX and takes it out of his paycheck if it means you'll be happy.

ʚ ɞ Definitley takes you out to the Dingo for fries and milkshakes later cause he feels bad you got upset 

ʚ ɞ He helps you regulate your anger and frustration pretty well by just being reassuring and peppy like he always is

ʚ ɞ Carries a few granola bars around for you just in case 

ʚ ɞ “Hey Soda’s got snacks, give em over man.” “Cant, they're for my girl :)”.

Two-Bit -

ʚ ɞ king of “what’s the magic wordddd” when you're already peeved from your lack of sustenance 

ʚ ɞ to be real he lives with two girls and he knows about the hanger so 

ʚ ɞ thinks its funny until you dont laugh at one of his jokes (keith is hurt)

ʚ ɞ “well damn baby, if you wanted me to take you out to dinner y’shoulda just said so.”

ʚ ɞ will gladly nick a pack of chips from the grocery if it means you'll laugh at his dumb comments again

ʚ ɞ he doesnt take your attitude too hard because he's busy formulating jokes for later about the situation

Johnny-

ʚ ɞ a little frightened lowkey doesn’t know what he did 

ʚ ɞ instantly notices a demeanor change when you get some food and he learns for next time (not to be a downer but he’s very perceptive of things that cause emotions in people because he’s always walking on eggshells with his parents) 

ʚ ɞ does a little mental walk back before your attitude and it dawns on him

ʚ ɞ throws a casual “..so.. Wanna go eat?”

ʚ ɞ happy wife happy life, hed use his last 50¢ to buy you a burger and some fries if it means you'd stop throwing dodgy looks at everyone around you.

ʚ ɞ Already a pretty quiet guy but he gets quieter if you start getting snippy with him and just starts redirecting wherever you're walking to in the direction of the nearest food source.

Darry-

ʚ ɞ oh he feeds you GOOD

ʚ ɞ this man does NOT play about hanger

ʚ ɞ If youre a bit edgy with him he notices, especially if you're normally really sweet.

ʚ ɞ has that slice of chocolate cake up and ready immediately 

ʚ ɞ big believer of “food is fuel” so he'd never let you get hungry

ʚ ɞ if on the off chance you didn't get food yourself and he had to work late then he's honestly too tired to fight with you and just nods and gives some “yes dear”s while you're going off and then inches towards the kitchen to make you something (at the speed in which he can escape without being told off more)

Steve-

ʚ ɞ I see him as a little short tempered so im not gonna lie yall get into it a bit 

ʚ ɞ whatever he's mooching from the Curtis household he’ll offer some to you 

ʚ ɞ also passes you snacks under the counter at the DX but im not gonna lie he does NOT pay for them 100% of the time.. But what's anyone gonna do? It's just him and Soda working there most days and he's too good at fixing cars for cheap that no one's gonna fire him for a pack of candy here and there.

Dallas Winston x Soc!Reader

“Y’know, you don't always have to do that.” You said as Dallas climbed through your opened window. 

"It's the only way I know doll.” he defended as he raised his arms in playful surrender, referring to all the times before you had revealed the relationship to your parents and the pair of you were perpetually condemned to sneaking around.

“Well c’mon my family's waiting.” You beckoned him towards the door of your room.  

When he reached you, you paused, surveying his outfit. You knew he would be revolted at the thought of wearing a more formal shirt so you just smoothed the front of the long sleeve he was wearing. Thankfully, he had taken off his leather jacket and laid it on the end of your bed, because although your parents were slowly beginning to warm up to him, you didn't want to have a discussion with your nosey aunt on why you were dating a “hoodlum”. 

Your gentle touch sent shivers up his spine, he still wasn't used to the careful way you treated him.

You took his hand and guided him downstairs, giving him a reassuring smile that everything was going to be okay.

And it was. Only a few small nudges with your foot under the table he received, and you managed to escape dinner without your relatives connecting any dots about him and his record which was regularly updated by Tulsa’s local papers, luckily most of them were from out of town.

After dinner, you sat sideways, partially in his lap, leaning back on the plush arm of the living room couch –Dallas was sure cost more than the entirety of the money he had ever made– sipping a porcelain mug of hot cocoa. The lights of your main Christmas tree twinkled softly, illuminating the room with a low comforting light after the sun had mostly set. The snow outside glittered faintly from the rogue ribbons of sun and a small fire was crackling in the hearth.

The two of you sat in mostly silence. Maybe it was the warmth radiating off of you, or the cozy atmosphere, or maybe it was something else, something Dallas didn't want to acknowledge, but he started speaking. Softly, and low, like someone would hear and ridicule him, snapping him up like a bear trap.

“Never really had Christmas before.” he told you, continuing he said “Well, I've been over at Darry’n’em’s house during, but…” he trailed off. It wasn't that he was ungrateful for the Curtis family’s hospitality, but that he always got the sinking feeling he wasn't supposed to be there. 

You nodded your head slowly and curled into his chest, reaching up and stroking the side of his face with your thumb. It was surprising really, how close he was letting you get to him. 

Somewhere, distantly, you heard your mother holler from the kitchen that desert was almost ready and to go wash up, but all you could focus on right now was Dally.

You looked up at him, hoping he could see the enchantment in your eyes you got when looking at him. 

“Merry Christmas Dal, love ya’” You chirped sweetly. 

He knew you meant it, and what scared Dallas Winston the most was that he wished he could say it back. Because he meant it too.

Ponyboy Curtis x Reader

It was Christmas Eve and Ponyboy Curtis was frantically pacing back and forth in the lot, his breath making clouds in the chilled night air. 

“What am I gonna do? Christmas is tomorrow and I ain’t got an idea of what to give her.” He told Johnny, who was laying against the base of a tree, mostly concentrating on blowing smoke rings. 

“I don’t know man.” he replied, sending Pony a look that one could infer to mean “how-on-Gods-green-earth-am-I-supposed-to-know-what-YOU-should-get-for-YOUR-girlfriend”. 

“Gee thanks for the help Johnnycakes.” Ponyboy said, voice dripping with sarcasm.

“Sure, anytime.” Johnny grinned back.

Pony just rolled his eyes, sighed and turned on his heel. The moon was higher in the sky than he wanted it to be and he knew if he was any later then he’d get an earful from Darry. As he walked home from the vacant lot he desperately attempted to find something —anything— he could possibly get on such short notice to gift to you for Christmas. He only drew blanks.

When he reached home shortly later, he flung the door open and let it slam, a bad accidental habit Darry would get him for later, if he wasn’t dead asleep, exhausted from working into the holidays. Sodapop was still awake, tucked into the corner of the couch, feet propped up on the coffee table as he watched some late night television variety show. 

Ponyboy let out an incredibly dramatic sigh and flopped unceremoniously onto the couch, face planting onto a cushion next to Soda. Clearly he wanted his brother to ask what was wrong so Soda obliged.

“What’s up with you Pony?” 

“I just don’t know what to get her for Christmas.” 

“Her as in…?” Soda trailed off, wiggling his eyebrows teasingly at his little brother, always poking fun at Pony about you in proper brotherly fashion.

Pony, whose face was still smushed into the couch, lifted his head to view what Soda was doing before promptly dropping his head and nodding and groaning in the affirmative into the upholstery. 

Soda paused before he responded “well you’re always writing about her in that journal of yours, just give her some of those poems, girls really like that stuff.” 

Pony once again removed his face from the fabric of the sofa and looked incredulously at his brother. “How would you know? you can’t write.” He asked semi-rhetorically.

Soda put his hands up in mock-surrender “hey I’m just saying.” 

But the more Pony thought about it the more it made sense.

Suddenly he jolted up and dashed to his room, picking up his journal and reading through it.  

He spent all night re-tracing the words onto better paper, concentrating on making sure the lettering was absolutely perfect. He slipped every sheet into the plastic protection of the previously unused photo-album-turned-gift he had found on the bottom shelf of the hall closet.  It comprises a copy of nearly every poem he had ever written about you, starting with the one he had composed after first laying eyes on you. The pages also contained various sketches he had drawn of you and little pictures of the two of you, film foggy and desaturated, but nonetheless adorable. 

Early in the morning Sodapop ruffled his hair and gave a rather sleepless Pony a wink. 

Later that night you arrived at the Curtis home and greeted Pony with an embrace. The rest of the gang was out in the lot, albeit freezing their gloveless fingers off, playing a post dinner game of football. Stepping through the threshold, you handed Ponyboy a gift bag before he reached to the small table beside the chair which sat in the entryway and handed you an item that was reminiscent of a petite binder with fabric over the cover before retreating to lean against the side of the sofa.

You opened it and scanned the first page, addressing the contents to you and wishing you a “Merry Christmas ‘67”. 

He watched as your eyes shined while reading, giving little giggles at some pages and staring in awe at others. When you were finished flipping through he attempted to ask your opinions on it “So, d’ya like-” he got half way out before you practically tackled him, knocking him off balance from where he was perched on the arm of the couch and onto the cushions. You gave him an extra hard squeeze and then cradled his face gently, juxtaposing your previous adrenaline inducing attack. You blinked your lashes at him, giving a loving glance, then promptly dusting his whole face in kisses.

You had not known that just a small number of long hours before he had been worrying his mind away in the same place you were entangled with him now.

Two-bit Mathews x Soc!Reader

“Two-bit I really can't stay, my mothers gonna get real worried.” you told him, however actions speak louder than words and you were unraveling your plush scarf and heading over to the second hand love seat in his living room. 

“It's freezing outside baby, I can't let ya’ go home in weather like this.” he responded, flicking his beat up old zippo open to light a fire in the small stone hearth that rested in the center of the room.

“Id ask you to lend me your jacket but God knows what my father would say if he saw me coming home with that around me.” you said, gesturing to his leather jacket hanging off a hook by the door. 

“Personally I think your father would appreciate me being so gentlemanly as to prevent his lovely daughter from going out into that blizzard and being immediately covered by a snow drift, think of how expensive it’ll be for him to dig you out.” he said with a faux snobbish air that made you giggle. 

“Besides baby, think of me, and the life long sorrow and guilt I'll feel if you die out there in the snow.” He exclaimed, sighing exaggeratedly and flopping onto the couch, the back of his hand pressed to his forehead like a drama queen fainting. 

At this you rolled your eyes and shook your head, pressing your lips into a smile against your will. He had somewhat of a point though so you began to unlace and slip off your snowboots. 

“Okay ill stay for a little while, just until the snow lets up a bit.” you conceded. 

He wiggled his eyebrows at you and you protested what he hadn't even needed to say. “Keith I am not staying over.” 

He clapped a hand to his chest in mock offense “No need to use the name on my ID you're not the fuzz.” he joked, adding a sly “we’ll see about that.” at the end of his statement in regards to your own. 

“Ah uh, think of all the talk tomorrow if I'm seen leaving your house in the morning.” you disagree. You continued, “And my aunt is staying over for the holidays and you know how nosy she is.” you kept listing, nervously playing with the strand of pearls encircling your neck, “My sister knows where I am and she’ll for sure rat me out, and oh gosh my brother I didn't even think-” suddenly you were shut up, a soft kiss was placed on your lips and a smiling Two-bit pulled away. 

“Dont you worry your pretty little head about it, ill figure something out.” he said in a sincere tone you rarely heard from him. Somehow this made you believe him so you quieted down and nodded your head. 

“D’ya want a drink while you wait?” he asked. At your positive response he trailed into the kitchen and hollered back behind him, “go ahead and put a record on, whichever one you like.” 

After a little while he came back and handed you a faded Mickey mug with a small chip out of the bottom. “Had to get out the Christmas fineries for a special guest like yourself.” You smiled up at him and took a deep sip as he sat down. Afterwards you set the drink down onto his coffee table, curled up into him and drifted off to sleep.

Dallas Winston x Soc!Reader

You were sitting in your vanity in a silky night gown and nylon stockings from your outfit you’d previously been wearing that day, absent mindedly filing your nails. The only light in the room coming from the dimming bulbs of a Christmas tree perched in the corner of your room. Multiple thoughts were swirling in your mind, most of them centered on your boyfriend Dallas. He had been gone a few weeks, something to do with New York, the details he told you had been fuzzy but you trusted him to not do anything irreparably stupid.

As you gave a put out sigh and stretched up from the bench at your dressing table you noticed something.

First you heard him, the low rumble of a borrowed T-Bird, then the crunching of snow on your front lawn, shortly followed by the tap coming at the window by your bed, your cue to part the chantilly curtains and let a –slightly shivering– Dallas in.

He climbed into your room and leaned against the sill of the window you were shutting. 

“Geez Dallas, one of these days you're just gonna come in from my chimney aren't you?” you jokingly nagged.

 “First thing I hear from my girl after I come back into town, and she's comparing me to Santa Claus." he shook his head and breathed out, giving you a smirk. 

He made his way over to you, who was now sitting on your plush bed, done up with frilled quilts and lace dust skirts. Dally took off his jacket and hung it on the finial of your bed frame. As he sat down he swept up your legs –which originally hung off the edge of the bed– onto his lap. He started tracing out lines on your hip, his calloused thumb rubbing smooth circles on your velvety skin under the satin of your dress.

“You been good while I was gone?” he asked in his low, almost sultry voice.

You giggled and nodded yes, sliding your hands up to his shoulders. 

“brought you back somethin’” he said, moving his fingers down to toy with the lace that trimmed the upper thigh of your stocking. 

“Oh gee did I really make the nice list this year?” you questioned, still teasing him. He shot you a mock-annoyed look and took something out of his pocket, wrapped in a faded bandana. “Well gosh if you're gonna be a jerk about it…” he trailed off, moving to put the mysterious gift back into his hung up jacket. 

“Wait no.” you spoke through laughter, “I swear I'll stop, I'm sorry.” You could hardly get the words out, so amused by his opposingly, very not amused face. 

“Yeah man you just look so sorry.” he commented, similarly now not trying to crack a grin.

You attempted to straighten your face and give him a serious look, but a smile kept peaking through. He shook his head before unfurling your fingers and simultaneously rolling the item from the fabric into your open palm. 

A small locket, surely stolen, the daintily embellished metal cold on your skin. You looked up at him, eyes widening. 

“Dally you shouldn’t have… it’s so beautiful, thank you.” You were on the verge of asking him where he found it before biting your tongue, one hundred percent sure you didn’t want to know the answer.

“Help me put it on?” You requested. He nodded and you turned your back to him and flipped your hair over one shoulder so he could clasp the thin chain around your neck. After doing so he removed his finger from your neck and in their place came his lips. Your mind stopped swirling like it had been before and everything around you slowed. You were just glad he was home with you.

Dallas Winston x Reader

Buck Merril’s bar was crowded full of people. You hid in the back corner, drink in hand, watching your friends dance in the center of the room. You’d been dragged along to this Christmas party of sorts, but you had no intentions of partaking in the festivities, your only goal for the night was to avoid Dallas Winston.

An especially lively song came blaring on the jukebox but when you saw him, everything around you stopped. 

You hoped upon hope he hadn't seen you, but even as you lowered your glance you knew he'd caught you eyeing him.

You rubbed your forehead and shut your eyes, praying he wasn't making his way over now. However, of course this wasn't the case. You felt the shift in energy around you and knew he was standing right in front of you.

“I hardly even recognize ya’” he commented abruptly, no greeting necessary in his mind.

“Well Dallas it's been a year. People change. Except for you, I don't think you'll ever change.” you retorted back offhandedly. 

You hadn't meant to even talk to him at all, the quickly improvised plan B was to completely ignore him, but the remark got under your skin for ways that you weren't certain on why, so the words just slipped out.

“Wheres that tool of a boyfriend of yours?” He questioned, meaning to inflict some sort of emotional damage to you but you felt nothing. 

You gritted your teeth before responding "He's not my boyfriend. We've just gone out a few times, and he's at home with his family.” 

“Yeah figures.” He responded gruffly. 

“As opposed to what Dallas? Being here with me tonight but running off tomorrow?” You interrogated. 

You saw a look of hurt flicker in his eyes, but just as soon as it was there, it was gone. 

“Is that what you're so mad about? That we drifted apart?”

“No Dallas. We didn't ‘drift’. I told you that I loved you and you abandoned me the very next day. You made me look like such an idiot.” 

He looked at you with something of surprise, maybe even pain if you'd thought he had the capacity to care about doing something like that. He just stared at you for a moment, looking almost lost. 

Then he started “I know. I screwed up doll, I’m..” He trailed off. Dallas Winston never could apologize. He shifted forward, towards you. His fingertips trailed over the side of your crossed arm and lingered, falling to your waist. You tilted your face to look up at him, his gaze held yours, along with notes of genuine sorrow. He was now less than a few inches from you. 

His free hand traveled up to your face, everything felt so familiar.

 Your lips almost brushed his.

You almost let yourself do it. It would be so easy. Almost.

“No.” You said, pulling back. “I'm not wasting my tears on you again.” but even as you said this, you could feel your eyes start to water. 

“I'm not doing this again.” You continued, gesturing at him and back at yourself. 

Before he could grab your arm and make you stay, you whisked out of the bar and never once turned back. 

Maybe you couldn't save yourself from tears, but you could prevent yourself from being fooled into thinking Dally would ever be someone to rely on again.

Steve Randal x Reader

You could hear a low hum of the engine, and feel a warm stream of air from the car's heater. A jacket that wasn’t yours was wrapped around you and a hand that was larger than your own rested on your thigh. 

The sun was beginning to set and a cool shadow cast over the town. Steve had just picked you up from the Dingo where you’d been having dinner with your friends after he’d been working late at the DX.

Light flakes of snow fell onto the streets spilling from the sky lazily. They caught on the windshield in front of you before all but melting away from the inner warmth of the vehicle heating the glass.

You drove in silence for a few minutes, just feeling each other’s company was enough. 

However, as he started taking unfamiliar turns you asked “Steve, where are we going?” You weren't worried, just curious.

He gave you a sideways grin and answered “you’ll see.” 

As you wound through unfamiliar neighborhoods you noticed the houses started to grow larger, more extravagant. As did the light displays hanging from the eaves of the houses and on the lawns on the south side of town. Because the sun was just now setting, more and more homes began sparkling from the thousands of incandescent bulbs. 

“Sure is pretty.” you hummed, taking a good glance at everything around you while stopped at a crossing. 

“Sure is.” Steve said, his voice only a little louder than a whisper, just barely audible over the murmur of music playing from the radio. Although your head was turned the other way, from the reflections cast on the windshield you saw him looking only at you. 

As you reached the edge of town the pavement slowly turned to dirt and an incline began tilting the car. Finally, you reached the top of what you assumed to be a rather large hill, although the sun had completely faded from the sky and everything around you was dimmed, so you couldn't be sure. Steve threw the car’s gear into park and hopped out. As he opened the door on your side he slipped a hand over your eyes. 

“Oh brother, Steve, what are you doing?” You wondered aloud, giggling slightly. 

“You’ll see.” He responded again, with an amused tone of his own. 

You shook your head in levity and walked forward as he guided you gently to who knows where. 

Suddenly he paused and when you stopped you noticed there was a chill in the air from the precipitation that made you shiver. Rather than complain about it you just nestled into Steve, who was still blocking your vision. He pulled you in tighter and removed his hand from your eyes. 

“Wow, Steve, it's so beautiful.” You exclaimed. 

He gave a small grin and replied “Just like my girl.”

As you looked out from the view of the hill, you could see all of Tulsa twinkling below.

Darry Curtis x Reader

It was a chilly holiday night and the rest of the gang decided to go out to the Dingo so Darry took this as an opportunity to come and see you. You had gotten off from work at a local boutique a few hours ago and when you heard Darry call you were so glad his supervisor gave him nights off around Christmas. 

There was a light knock at the door and you knew it was him.

“Come in, it's unlocked!” you called out, hands busy pushing the ottoman to the foot of the couch. 

The door opened and you heard him say “What's got my little lady so busy she can't open the door?” before he laid eyes on you. 

When he saw you moving around your furniture to create a bigger space to lie on he scooped you up by the waist and popped you down at his side as he began to tell you “Let me do that for ya darlin’.” 

“Ugh, Darry, it's supposed to be a night off. I'm not tryin’ to put you to work.” you half scolded him, and half scolded yourself for not moving things sooner so he wouldn't feel obligated to do it. 

“Aw, no matter sweetheart, why don't you go and get started popping that kettle corn I brought, it's on the front table.” 

Gosh, Darry was always just the sweetest. 

After you started to make the popcorn you scurried down to the linen closet in the hall to gather a few blankets. You hurriedly flung them on the couch and ran back, just slightly beating the “ding!” on the timer. As you peeled back the foil that covered the pot you felt two strong arms wrap your body as Darry engulfed you in his warmth, the soft wool of his winter sweater tickled at your skin. You reached your free hand behind you and ruffled his hair. 

“Could you grab me a bowl? All my larger ones are in that cabinet up there.” You pointed. He nodded and reached up over you to retrieve the bowl, one hand still on you, fingertips skimming the bare skin where the hem of your babydoll top didn't quite reach the band of your pajama pants. 

You turned around to face him, framing his collarbones with your hands, thumb lightly rubbing his neck. You had to look up at him to meet his gaze. He set the bowl down beside you on the counter and lifted you up so you were sitting next to it, almost eye to eye with him now. He brushed a stray lock of your hair behind your ear and leaned in, kissing you tenderly, with calmness like you had all the time in the world and he was still going to spend every second of it with you.

He gave you a soft kiss on the forehead before picking you up like a bride being carried across the threshold and gently setting you down on the couch. He changed the dial on your television set to channel 6 and flicked off the lights, the only light coming from a hall lamp, and a small fireplace crackling, lucent in the background. 

While Darry settled down on the couch with you, the beginning music along with the credits of “White Christmas” began playing. You snuggled into his chest and he stroked your hair, his hands calloused from long hours working. As the movie continued you nuzzled into Darry more, feelings of comfort washed over you. You could smell the pine wood he’d been working with earlier in the day and small traces of cocoa powder had enlaced themselves into his jumper when he had been baking cake for him and his brothers, making his scent rustic and sweet and unequivocally Darry.

You started to drift off and you didn't try to fight it, you had seen the movie every holiday since it came out and you were rather tired, the cozyness and safety Darry provided only added to the effects.

Awaking to the final soar in the motion picture’s sound track, you felt Darry shifting, tucking the blankets in around you and heading to put his shoes back on. 

“Mmm.. dont go.” you hummed. 

“Baby it's late I’ve gotta get going.” he responded

“But the streets are all covered in snow.” you grumbled in protest, not even picking up your head to look out the window and check if this was true or not. Apparently it either was or that was all the argument he needed, because Darry laid back down and fixed the blankets over the shoulders of the pair of you.

 The next morning when Darry got home he was greeted with hoots and hollers from the gang, even a wolf whistle from Two-bit, which, to be fair, was to be expected. But contrary to the cat calls from the guys, he had gotten the best night of sleep he’d had in a long time.

Sodapop Curtis x Soc!Reader

There was a knock at your door and your heart quickened a beat. You did one last twirl to fluff out your circle skirt and practically skipped down the hallway. There waiting for you at the bottom of the stairs was Sodapop Curtis, a small bouquet of flowers in one hand and the other outstretched, reaching for yours to help guide you down.

You descended the stairs and plucked the flowers from his hand, they were your favorite. You showed him your thanks by giving him a kiss on the cheek and passing the flowers to your mom who offered to put them in water for you. 

Slipping on your kitten heels and a fur shawl lined with satin you flitted out the door and into the nearly-as-old-as-you Ford parked in your front drive.

As you pulled up to the dance hall you could hear the din of Christmas tunes playing from a minority scratched record. There were boughs of holly draped around the front arches of the entrance of the hall and a warm smell of cinnamon and excitement filled the air.

“Gosh, you sure do look beautiful tonight.” Soda commented sincerely. In his eyes you could do no wrong. He clutched your hand, anyone else would think nervously, but you knew he was as excited as anything to be here. 

Sure, he had been to plenty of dances before but this one was a soc one. This one was with you. So it was more than special. He lifted your hand, still in his, and gave it a small kiss before pulling you onto the dance floor just as a new song began. 

Sodapop Curtis was a good dancer. A great one in fact. He twirled you with the utmost of grace, lifted you with incredible ease, and dipped you elegantly. Your whole body was humming a few songs in and you never wanted the night to end. 

A slower, more orchestrated version of a Christmas song began playing and you finally caught a breath and slowed down, Soda’s arms resting around your waist and your cheek lying on his collar. 

He couldn't take his eyes off of you.

As you swayed languidly to the music together, something caught your attention. 

“Hey, look.” you said softly, lifting your head off of him dreamily and shifting your gaze to a decorative arc in the ceiling where a sprig of mistletoe was tied. 

“You sly dog!” he joked “you only brought me over here so you could steal a kiss from me, didn't you!” he fake exclaimed. 

You didn't give an answer, only batting your eyelashes up at him with a sweet smile on your face. 

“Oh alright.” he mockingly resigned himself, tilting your chin up at him before moving his lips slowly to yours. Lights twinkled all around you and as the music picked up its pace people all around you were dancing merrily, but all you could focus on was Soda.
