if tumblr does end up going down just know that if you were my mutual you can always call on me for aid in battle and i will never refuse to draw my blade for you
Mutuals can literally sound my mystical horn whenever they require my aid.
mutuals can shatter an ancient crystal and I will appear in blinding spillage of light
Mutuals can whisper my name to the woods, and I will exit from a nearby fairy ring, ethereal and dangerous grace, to lend my aid.
You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.
By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.
I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?
it's probably from assholes making asks a minefield of trolling/harassment for years with no real blocking ability, which turned people off from allowing asks on their blogs so as a whole the site moved away from it
but now that we do have better blocking, we should try to revive it.
Reblog if your ask box is open.
âWhat is it that the child has to teach?
The child naively believes that everything should be fair and everyone should be honest, that only good should prevail, that everybody should have what they want and there should be no pain or sadness. The child believes the world should be perfect and is outraged to discover it is not.
And the child is right.â
â Rabbi Tzvi Freeman
âWesterners are fond of the saying âLife isnât fair.â Then, they end in snide triumphant: âSo get used to it!â What a cruel, sadistic notion to revel in! What a terrible, patriarchal response to a childâs budding sense of ethics. Announce to an Iroquois, âLife isnât fair,â and her response will be: âThen make it fair!ââ âBarbara Alice Mann
Scalding hot take apparently: if a demographic says âI donât feel safe in the cisgendered heterosexual society, I need space in the LGBT communityâ and you say âIâm sorry, youâre not oppressed enough, get outâ youâre a fucking asshole.
What this post is about;
Ace/aro people getting called âcishetâ
Bisexuals getting called âstraight passingâ
Straight trans people getting told theyâre not oppressed
What this post is not about;
Pedophiles
Yeah you're right. It WOULD be pretty fucked up if you were a swan but you were raised by ducks and you grew up never seeing another swan or even knowing that such a thing as a swan even existed so you just thought you were a duck with something super wrong with it.
how does it feel to be tumblr famous now
Thanks for the question autistic-fuckwad. Iâm enjoying the popularity :3
OP will be hunted for sport if the asker ever changes their name
OH FUCK
Fools! Youâve both fallen for one of the classic blunders! The first is never to start a land war in Asia but only slightly less well known is to never address a tumble user by name!!!
Hello tumblr I heard you like changeling stories
Seven years of bad luck for breaking a mirror seems pretty harsh.
That originates from when mirrors were silver backed, and therefore, far more expensive

This gif is outrageous
â The so-called âblood explosionâ which punctuates the conclusion of Akira Kurosawaâs 1962 movie Sanjuro remains one of the most memorable and influential special effects in film history. Production designer Yoshiro Muraki would later recall this scene was filmed in a single take. No such effect had ever been attempted before, as movies of the time rarely showed violence with graphic detail. Filled with uncertainty, Muraki worried the blood spray heâd rigged up wouldnât impress Kurosawa, so he added an extra 30 pounds of pressure to the fluid pump. At the moment the pump was activated, the additional pressure caused the compressor hose attached to actor Tatsuya Nakadai to blow a coupling which created a slight, unintentional delay before the fake blood began to spray, and caused a much larger gush of fluid than planned. It sprayed so powerfully Nakadai claimed it almost lifted him off the ground. His heart sinking, as he believed the delay and over-pressure had ruined the effect, Muraki nervously glanced at director Akira Kurosawa, but Kurosawa only nodded in approval.
âoh god i fucked this upâ
âyoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOâ
And to think this is so iconic that âtwo dudes clash, thereâs a beat, then one dies incredibly violentlyâ is just a must-have for action in anime
Its crazy to think that this iconic visual that has been so ubiquitous in pop culture for so long despite that the source material barely being known by people all came from actors staying in character thru an FX malfunction.
i think rolling down a grassy hill would fix me
I know autumn and spring are the shoulderest of seasons for this, but have you ever tried iceblocking, aka summertime inverted sledding?
For todayâs lucky 10,000, the steps are:
Clear out a dishpanâs worth of space in your freezer
Get some scrap lengths of rope to use as two handles.
Fill dishpan with 4"-6" (10-15 cm) of water
Tie a knot in each end of each rope, then set the ropes in the dishpan. Tape the ropes to the sides if necessary to keep some of the rope out of the ice.
Freeze. May take a few days.
Scout out your best local sledding hill. We preferred our collegeâs golf course after dark. Warm evenings work well.
Extract the ice block from the dishpan. It may require a little help with warm water at the edges or outsides of the pan.
Summon accomplices. Meet at sledding hill. Bring towels.
Set towel on ice block at top of hill. Sit on towel and ride down. Repeat until tired, bored, cold, or out of ice to slide on.
Usual sledding hazards apply, but once you dodge those, itâs a wonderful time.
Attention Northern Hemisphere: hereâs your reminder about the coolest new fad.

âIt wasnât something I did arbitrarily. When I read Takahashi-senseiâs source material, I thought, âThis character has that kind of personality so they might do this kind of thing.â For example: Joey is the hot-blooded âbig broâ character -> He might like martial arts -> I suppose he likes wrestling -> I bet he likes Inoki -> The chin! Thatâs how it went.â â Takahiro Kagami, 2012.

I just saw the most Galaxy Brain gender take ever, from a cis man on reddit
[ID: a screenshot of a comment from reddit, with no username visible. The commend reads: This doesnât make a ton of sense to me either. Setting aside the question of whether gender/sex is assigned or observed at birth, the gender I was assigned at birth was âboy.â The gender I have now is âmanâ. Boys and men have different gender roles, and few adults identify as boys anymore. From this standpoint, every adult has a different gender than the one they had at birth. End ID]
Framing âgirlâ and âboyâ as separate genders from âwomanâ and âmanâ is such an amazing take. itâs a framework that accommodates and explains so many trans experiences. Some trans people never were their AGAB. Some feel like they were their AGAB, but that that changed (usually when puberty hits, which is when you start âbecoming a man/womanâ. The accepted societal path is that girls grow up to into women, and boys grow up into men. But some girls grow up into men, and some boys grow up into women. This guy was a boy who grew up into a man, which generally works out pretty well for people. Some boys and girls grow up into people who arenât men or women, even! Itâs like this random cis guy skipped right over transgender 101, 102, 201, etc. and stumbled directly into Transgender Nirvana.
