Glad Midsommar!Today, Sweden celebrates midsummer’s eve,where we traditionally erect a midsummer pole decorated with flowers,wear flower crowns and dance/eat/drink the night away. It’s my most favourite tradition from back home

Swedish Tradition Gothic

Once a year, everyone gathers to chant in unison while rhythmically moving in circles around a phallic shaped symbol of fertility.

To celebrate the arrival of spring, we dress up as our murdered forebearers and wander like pilgrims, begging for scraps so as to be able to continue our march.

When possible, we slowly boil ourselves alive, all while intermittently self-flagellating with birch branches and then immersing ourselves in powdered frozen water.

Every late summer, we catch invasive pests and boil them alive, preferably in a mixture of beer and sugar. We then eat these pests and wash them down with a strong poison.

“vilse in pankakan was not as bad as many of my generation has potrayed it. Mostly, i believe we lacked something to come togheter over to loath. Being that this was one of the few kids shows on tv, we watched it, and loathing it become a bit of a sport.

That being said, it is perhaps not fair, to make a show about all the anxiety its middle aged creator feel about life, and then expect small children to be able to digest it. The show is much more harmless than remembered, but also. Perhaps, the creator should not have put quite as much of that middle aged anxiety of his into the show”
