au explination

Eggman was kind and treated Metal like his son, at the start. The years went by, and so did the losses, Eggman eventually came to hate Sonic with a passion, and because Metal was there as a metal clone of the one Eggman hated, he took his anger out on the child.

As Metal "grew up" he became used to the mistreatment and deemed his happy memories with his father as glitches in his memory bank. Until Eggman created Sage. He treated Sage warmly and with a kindness Metal hadnt seen since his own childhood days.

Metal, twisted by the abuse and his own self worth issues, destroyed Sage in an attempt to make things better, for things to go back to how they were, before Sage, before the losses. Eggman walked in, and Metal, high strung, guilty, and paranoid, killed Eggman
