there’s a content creator on tiktok complaining on why she dislikes Sel and Selbree as a couple because she deems it as struggle love and that Sel barely had development over the course of three books? How does it feel to be completely wrong 😭 If you read Legendborn and can’t see the obvious change in Sel that’s highkey a you problem. But the forced hate he gets is just really weird in this fandom, like you still don’t have to like him but why ignore his development???
That was my video, and are you slow 😭 WHEN was my point that he has no development? I said his treatment of her was weird due to the racial undertone in their relationship, and the power dynamic. i said Sem embodies the kind of toxic love only black women are reduced to having. I also said he’s a weird character cuz he is objectively toxic. You lack reading and listening comprehension.
Well if it’s YOUR video you have missed several points. Sel embodying the toxic love bw are reduced too as if Nicks whole ancestors weren’t fucking slave owners 💔 crazy the one lacking compression isn’t me, it’s you with your ridiculous bias and lack of literacy. But no apparently Nick is perfect just because he’s “nice” to her. Did you not realize in the first book that Bree did threaten Sels position as he was a Merlin too and he was discriminated enough as a Merlin by the Order? The point is to parallel in some way and if you can’t see that then you’re better off not reading at all.
Oh it’s giving 🦝 DOWN 😭 Yall care more about making sure your favorite white boy isn’t misunderstood than making sure black girls get good representation. Prioritizing Sel over Bree is CRAZY when the whole book is about Bree. Also comparing Sel/Merlin discrimination to Bree’s experience of anti-blackness by the Order….. 🦝
Mind you, we’re talking about how Bree is treated by her love interests and you’re talking to me about nick’s ancestors, I have to laugh. 😂 What’s worse, Sel (an 18 yo white boy) putting hands on and attempting to kll a 16 year old Black girl facing intense racism, or Nick doing everything he can to atone for his ancestor’s sins? 🤔
