I think this is a good metaphor for how white people feel threatened when the attention isnt on them. This mural doesn’t even say “black lives matter,” or anything at all about race. Its just a memorial for Sandra Bland. But someone felt the need to assert that their whiteness was more important. Caring about the injustice that happened bc of SB’s blackness brings to their attn the issue of how violent the nature of white supremacy is, and somehow that’s uncomfortable for them.
