The (European) sun is a deadly laser, stay safe everyone
☝️🤓 it’s because the further you move toward the earth’s poles, the lower the angle of the sun is at the hottest parts of the day, meaning the radiation hits your whole body, causing it to feel 10-20 degrees warmer than the thermometer reading will tell you. People from tropical climes, aka close to the equator, are used to the sun’s radiation hitting a much smaller target- their head and shoulders.
Also the further you move toward the poles the more pronounced the difference between the length of day and night is. Worst part of a far-north (or south) heatwave is it doesn’t get dark long enough for meaningful cooling.
It’s not the heat. It very literally is the sun.

I've reached the point where cynicism is a major turn-off for me. You're not smarter than idealists, and you're not helping.
Funny that the stereotypical cynic is an idealist who aged out of it. In my experience, the reverse is true. I was an extreme cynic as a teenager and then I noticed how profoundly limiting it was, and also that "cynics are cool and smart" was a message that was being constantly reinforced by corporate media for some reason.
#yes! cynicism reads as very juvenile to me#and yes prev often stemming from teen pain
Yeah, like I see black-pilled people on here and my default reaction isn't "oh, these must be world-weary old warriors who've lost their faith in humanity", it's "these people are in their 20s and need a hobby"
I also think that the present era has proven that authoritarian leaders don't actually want a population of wide-eyed idealists, they want a population of jaded assholes who are convinced that everyone is lying, any resistance is either a scam or doomed to failure, and nothing can ever get better.
In case anyone was not aware, the new Tomb Raider developers have come out and said that they used 'AI tools' in their development. This is a very vague statement and despite their assurances that the final product will be 'entirely human-made' things are bound to slip through, just like with Crimson Desert. They have not explicitly stated that this is generative AI, but given the nature of the game this is most likely what has been used in their development. Do not trust these corporations, do not support games that use AI. Do not buy into the 'oh everything is AI now, we should just expect it and tolerate it because everyone does it'. How you spend your money matters to these people, protest with your wallet. If you still want to play the game, pirate it. Don't give Crystal Dynamics your money.
Teenagers are like that because every problem feels the same amount of Catastrophic. There's no sense of scale going on there cause they lack frame of reference. This isn't the fault of The Teenager but it does explain the Discourse Circles I was in when I was younger. Like it operates in both "blowing shit that doesn't matter WAY out of proportion" and "not taking Real Problems seriously enough". This is why dni banners are like that
I fear the only cure for this is to simply stop being a teenager. If you're an adult and still like this I hope you stop being a teenager soon
The way sam looks at lara ♥️🥺
Honestly kind of obsessed with the way Max Caulfield and Victoria Chase are complete opposites, total narrative foils. Not just in the way of “Max is nice and Victoria is mean,” but like they are truly the other one turned inside out. They’re both so intimidated by the art world, but where Victoria chooses to sabotage others, Max chooses to sabotage herself by never putting herself out there. Max is outwardly nice but secretly often judgmental of her classmates (like when she says they must make cheerleaders like Dana in a factory somewhere) while Victoria is outwardly dismissive and judgmental but secretly has a lot of respect for her classmates (Max in particular.) Max is meek and self-conscious in everyday life, even calling herself a loser, but when push comes to shove, in the Dark Room, she’s confident in her own survival and tells Jefferson to eat shit and die. Meanwhile Victoria is confident and talks shit every day but crumbles in the dark room and can’t fight back and calls herself weak. Max just wants to be ignored, so Victoria makes a point to sit at her desk and interact with her as much as possible. At one point she literally asks Max if it’s fate that they can’t be friends. What kind of insane behavior were these two on no one is doing it like homoerotic female narrative foils
does anyone else feel me. can anyone hear me in here.

also, i know this might sound corny but like.... please be nice to other people online. not even trying to say this in a like a, 'oh because you never know what they might be going throughhhh' kind of way just like. be nice man. stop hate following along with things. be more patient with strangers. stop trying to get off cunty one liners for your five seconds of smirking like a dreamworks poster protag.
ive said it before but as a tool and a 'place', i really love the internet, genuinely. i dont like the resignation that it has to be, and stay, a place thats full of misery and fighting. ive met a lot of really wonderful people here, and i think we could all have a nice time together if everyone did their part to make it so that was possible. im not speaking down to you as someone whos never made these mistakes, im asking as someone whos also made them alongside you.
keep thinking about how I wrote in my dissertation about how every time a new form of public/social space emerges it's immediately popular with kids and teenagers who see it as a chance at freedom and then adults colonise it and kick them out. this happened with malls in the 80s and diners in the 50s and pool halls in the 20s. my dad was doing research on this trend in like 1975. and I was like "yeah so this is going to happen to the internet" and then five years later every government suddenly decided to ban kids from everywhere online. I hate being right especially when I don't even get paid for it
