me when I'm a perfectly normal person who does only perfectly normal things
ive talked about "childhood friends gone wrong" on here before right
there's probably already a name for this but it's a trope i coined for a very specific type of dynamic that im consistently obsessed with. give me two people who grew up together and played together and were each other's best friend and then Something Happened and now everything's fucked up but they're still friends. or they want to be at least. you look so different now and everything is so much more complicated now than when we played in your backyard but literally who else knows me better than you. who else could i ever call my best friend

I have this headcanon that Edgeworth seems stoic but his eyes are actually very expressive, and Phoenix (post-disbarment) seems expressive but his emotions never quite reach his eyes

thinking about how mia was probably the only person phoenix felt really comfortable with after 3-1 and then shes murdered. and he has maya and the whole course of the 1st game is him getting used to her and appreciating what she does.but i think so much of his dismissiveness towards maya and often wishing that The Chief Could Be Here is like not even completely on purpose. its a very quiet subconscious sort of grief. he doesn’t really want to undermine maya but he misses mia and her safety and he never gets to fully dwell on that too much.

So it's been awhile since I played Turnabout Goodbyes or any of the cases that have Franziska as the prosecutor so I might be off about this but something I've been thinking about lately is just how... Different Franziska is as a prosecutor compared to her father, particularly in the way she defines "perfection" or a "perfect victory". She does still seem to look up to him to some degree as a prosecutor, she calls him a genius, but she seems to have such a different idea of what perfection is.
Part of what makes Manfred Von Karma so intimidating and difficult to beat is that he's constantly trying to completely shut you down. Shutting down lines of questioning, hiding evidence, coaching witnesses, withholding information, trying to intimidate you into not pushing back against his arguments. To Manfred, perfection meant leaving no room for argument. Swift, efficient, final.
Franziska on the other hand, seems to take a bit of a different approach. She's still trying to run the trial with an iron fist and trying to intimidate people and posturing herself as the ultimate authority but... She's not completely shutting you out. Unlike Manfred who often would try to completely shut down any argument that didn't fit his narrative without even entertaining it, Franziska insists on taking them on head-on. Even at times ignoring the judge saying himself that it doesn't seem worth even arguing Franziska insists, she cannot simply leave it alone once it's been said, let him make his case so she can tear it down. For Franziska, perfection means leaving no room for doubt or uncertainty. Her victory isn't perfect until not a single doubt remains, until she's torn apart every argument the defence has tried to make, until she's confident that not a single person will walk out of that courtroom with any doubts about her perfect guilty verdict. It seems to me that Franziska is someone who can't stomach uncertainty and can't seem to ignore it, and because of that she was never capable of doing what her father did (and what Miles seemed to be able to do for some time, until Phoenix changed things. Maybe that's part of why Franziska felt that Phoenix "ruined" him)

I see a lot of ideas thrown around for a new investigations game following another prosecutor and like yeah they're cool but it's had to understate just how well a Lana Skye investigations game would work. Have it set just after AA6, Lana is finally out of prison and kinda struggling to get back on top of life, edgeworth reaches out because of the shortage of manpower at the prosecutors office and offers to pull some strings to get Lana back as a prosecutor. It would be so interesting to see Lana's relationship to prosecuting after RFTA and seeing her slowly learn to love the profession again, her experience as a detective and as a prosecutor makes so much sense for the gameplay style of an investigations game. Also you could probably squeeze in a Mia flashback case for Lanamia purposes. We could also get introduced to where the rest of the RFTA cast are now, and of course see her and older Ema interact.
