I've seen too many fics where Dennis is hopelessly in love with Rabbot. Even if Robby and Jack have a crush on him first, Dennis has secretly loved them too, then boom! They all kiss and start dating. (Still love them tho, i eat dem up💙)
But what if Dennis Whitaker just... doesn't have a crush on his attendings? Even while Robby and Jack are in love with him. (Bonus points if Rabbot is married. ✋✋)
Dennis slowly figures it out, either because of Trinity's teasing or from his own observations, and is honestly annoyed. He's not stupid or clueless. Every day, he feels the way they touch or hold him, listens to their teasing remarks and kind words, and gets snacks or things they swear they "accidentally" brought extra of. It was getting exhausting and honestly kind of pathetic.
So when they ask him out at the ambulance bay, he obviously turns them down. Expressing how he truly felt and without thinking says, "Move on and find another third!" before walking towards Trinity's car, obviously frustrated and not bothering to hear what they had to say after that
Little does he know... That just makes them want him even more

i will forever owe my allegiance to the pitt solely for the fact that it gave me trinity santos. she’s sarcastic. she’s rude. she’s abrasive. she loves taking care of other people. she’s a survivor of sexual abuse. she’s struggled with suicidality. she hates when she isn’t believed. she is deeply scarred and wounded. she uses humor as a coping mechanism. she struggles with self harm. she is the most empathetic person you will ever know. she is deeply loving and generous. she’s ashamed of her own love and joy. she doesn’t take care of herself. she would rather be hated than taken advantage of again. she holds grudges. she doesn’t like herself. she tirelessly advocates for everyone she comes across because she knows what it is to be small and vulnerable and helpless. she knows that kindness is weakness but she cannot help but be kind over and over again.
The pitt was absolutely the perfect series where atleast EVERYONE should have gotten an emmy nomination because of their performance im sorry.✋✋
As a filipino teen, i absolutely ADORE their diversity and inclusivity. And im gonna continue loving the series as long as i can. But lowk obviously the POC people should have gotten a nomination.

Summary: Titus Danforth had a bad day, and unfortunately for Dennis he has to hear every end of it. Atleast he gets to drink a shit ton of wine whilst tiredly comforting Titus.
Before Dennis, Titus had a routine for stressful and frustrating days. And he always handled it the same way. He drank. He spoke to Satan, speaking bitterly about how unfair life could be despite all the power and wealth he possessed. Then he would stumble into his massive bed and pass out alone. It had been that way for years.
Then Dennis entered his life.
Whenever Titus returned home after a difficult work day, Dennis would usually find him in one of the sitting rooms with a bottle already opened. Dennis, having developed a taste for any sorts of alcohol that cost more than an average Nebraska farm, rarely refused the invitation.
Titus stretched out across the sofa, his head resting heavily on Dennis’s lap while holding the wine bottle loosely in one hand. Meanwhile, Dennis sat comfortably with a champagne glass between his fingers, casually sipping the expensive wine, and his eyes already half-lidded.
Titus talked. And talked. And talked. And poured Dennis wine. And talked. Dennis only listened to about half of it. Maybe even less. At some point, all of his boyfriend's “grievances” blurred together into the same tired complaints. So Dennis responded the only way he knew how.. Softly petting his hair away while offering occasional encouragement.
A tired, "Yes, Titus, you're in the right."
A distracted, "Mhmm. They're definitely dumbasses."
Or a simple, "Yeah, I hear you."
Thankfully, Titus never seemed to notice Dennis wasn't fully listening or perhaps he did notice and simply didn't care. The older man relaxed under the absentminded affection regardless.
For all his intelligence, status, and frightening ruthlessness, sometimes all Titus wanted was someone to listen while he complained about his day. Someone to pour another glass of wine for. Someone whose lap he could rest his head on without fear of betrayal. Someone other than alcohol. He’d always melt under Dennis’s touch and the way his hands gently pet his hair. His tired eyes looked straight at him without fear. His snarky smile whenever he vented about a minor inconvenience.
It was painfully pathetic.
Dennis never outwardly pointed it out. Mostly because he enjoyed the wine nights they shared. And because, despite everything, he sort of understood. Residency life had taught him that some days simply burn a person out. Sometimes they just needed to let it out and drink the night away until the weight became somewhat manageable.
By the time the wine bottle emptied the couple would grow sleepy together. They’d placed the empty bottle on the table. Then, at some point during the night, they would stumble upstairs and pass out once they got into bed together. Titus finally had someone willing to listen to him ramble about every problem in his life. And Dennis had access to an endless supply of free alcohol
Strangely enough, they both considered this nightly arrangement a comforting success.
By morning, neither would acknowledge how much they had enjoyed the other's company.
At the end, Titus, despite denying his pathetic displays, always remembered to restock the wine cabinet for future nights.
I hate that the MCYT community genuinely cares more about "boundary breaking" than the rampant sexism and racism in their spaces. Like why don't you direct ur energy and anger towards THAT instead of publically shaming ppl for what they post on ao3??
