I’ve heard the Scissor Sisters song She’s My Man many many times but I always just assumed it was about a drag queen or dominant woman.
BUT then I found out it’s actually about a rich white guy leaving the high life behind so he can shovel coal for the folk hero Annie Christmas, a tall, supernaturally strong black woman who’s captain of her own boat and wears pearls from all the men who tried to challenge her. I was wondering why there was so much boat-talk in the song.
Also, for some reason a lot of descriptions of her mentions she’s strong enough to carry a lot of hay *shrug*
Thanks for teaching me this.
Whiskin doesn't like the beach episode... 🏖️
No one did by the end of it.
Okay, I realized something that will make ANYONE sympathize with The Grinch even more.
In the 2000 film, the parasol scene, where Cindy Lou is being told where babies come from. The Grinch was in his own basonet parasol and landed in a little bush right at the window of a party, while it was SNOWING, in the middle of the night. All he had was a loose blanket over him, and the window WAS SHUT. The fucking worst of it is that the lady Then said that it became MORNING before ANYONE knew he was out there! THE KID WAS FUCKING DYING, AND WAILING, AND YOU WONDER WHY HE BURNED YOUR DAMN TREE DOWN YEARS AFTER!?
Look at this poor baby. God I would BURN THE DAMN HOUSE WHILE I'M AT IT!
How DUMB IS WHOVILLE!?
The villain origin story might’ve peaked with the Grinch… like the grinch was treated super badly and did he grow up and go on a killing rampage? No he retreated to a mountain and kept to himself until locals started bothering him…. Like “this tall green hairy guy is going to give people junk mail” is a lot better of an origin story then “no matter what you tell me this lady is going to grow up to want to skin puppies. Like whatever you tell me it’s she’s gonna wake up one morning and say “it’s a beautiful day to kill some damn puppies”.
AND HOW CUTE IS BABY GRINCH LOOK AT THAT FACE
I KNOW! Each time I remember that scene I bawl because it's ONCE he starts crying that they mention nobody realized he was out there. I would've been the only sober Who at that party that heard the little guy, and actually got him warmed up.
Also, after Disney gave Cruella the Joaquin Joker Treatment, I knew I was going to throw up.
In the original book of 101 Dalmatians, it's far, far worse.
RIGHT! Like the only Disney villain origin story I want to see Yzma from the emperors new groove. Her actions in the movie? Still not that great, she doesn’t care if the peasants in the kingdom have food so it’s not like she wants to rule for any other reason than she wants power. BUT. Does she go on a murder spree? She does not! Like she has the ideas but not the follow through, she could’ve turned him into a flea and then mailed him to herself! But she as a leader is good at delegating, and when one half the guards asked to leave upon becoming a cow, she honored this request. And her back story would be SO MUCH FUN. How did she get into the kingdom? How many assistants had she been through? Was she hiring them herself? Like I get that everyone has a past but if the story ends “and then he killed all these people” or “and it was then she decided her life was missing the skinning of innocent puppies” it’s like I’m sorry there are just so many other things you could have done.
Also, when the Grinch ran away, he was EIGHT. Why did the two old ladies not go and look for him?! They just sadly say they never saw him again- DID YOU EVER BOTHER TO LOOK?! If he left when he was eight and is 53 at the start of the story, they clearly have longevity and most likely stamina. LOOK FOR THE CHILD YOU TOOK THE RESPONSIBILITY TO RAISE AFTER YOU LEFT HIM ON THE DOORSTOP ALL NIGHT AS A BABY!!!!
It’s like you Who’s have no idea how lucky you are that all the grinch decided to do was burn down a Christmas tree and point out how you all have a problem with materialism
You... You get it. And goddamn, if I weren't happy for or proud of that, I'd rather be the Christmas tree.
Also, the woman who stopped the live action Seuss movies was Seuss' affair wife. The were sleeping around when his first wife had cancer, framing the suicide right after she found out as "afflicted by her love for him"
Everyone feel free to repost this every year. Happy Holidays and may corporations rue the day they are formed.

One of the most important things I’ve learned as a Real Adult™ is the importance of a job half done.
Today I did a load of dishes, wiped off my stove, and swept the kitchen floor. Did I do the best job, or finish every dish? No! My stove still has that caked on caramel that I need to bust out an SOS pad to take care of, one of our big pots is still sitting in the sink, and somehow a kitty kibble unearthed itself while I was wiping down the stove (?? how??).. but the kitchen looks a LOT better. It’s once again an inhabitable, usable space.
Parents, bosses, teachers, even my own self, harp upon absolute perfect completion of a task as the be all and end all of a job well done, but god damn, my kitchen isn’t terrible because I took the time to improve it. Little steps, especially when you’re struggling, are important. They mean a LOT. They are a sign that you won, if only in that brief moment, and they make getting all the other stuff done so much easier later on down the road.
I…need to remember this. Thank you.
