Lately
...lately this has been anything but a DAILY updated blog. Life has been very busy and it seems my beauty/fashion inspirations have kind of been suffocated by the ever increasing layers of sweaters, jackets and winter-y accessories.
I'd want to post more, but I'm currently kind of questioning the importance, meaning and need for this blog. Hmm...
Agree... or disagree? I think a lot of the really dramatic looks out there work out as dramatic looks for print ads etc, but hardly on real people in real life. Such as:
Christmas Party Nails - Ideas
I call these "Delicious Candy Nails". Can't help it.
Dramatic, deep red nails - a classic.
Gorgeous, shiny black nails with chunky glitter. Loooove.
Matte-looking metallic nails, like jewels.
Shiny, warm, metallic nails. Neutral, yet flashy.
Nude nails with gold glitter. One of my favorites.
Sparkly white accent nails - a fresh touch.
Wintergreen Christmas nails - a bold choice!
All of these nails and their origins can be found via my Pinterest Board "Nail-ing It", here.

MUA Makeup Academy Product Review
I stumbled upon MUA products sort of by accident. I was browsing through YouTube videos and ended up watching some makeup tutorials by Emma Pickles and marvelled at this intense teal hue she used in one of the looks. I learned that it was by a brand called MUA Makeup Academyand decided to look it up out of curiosity as I had never heard of it before. I fell in love with the selection at first glance - and I fell in love with the prices. I find cosmetics to be very expensive in Finland compared to say USA, for example, a lipstick that would be about 5 dollars in USA is likely sold in Finland for over 10 euros.
I was hesitant to order from MUA because of the prices being so affordable. My entire order (pictured above) cost less than 35 € with the shipping! I was concerned that the quality might be really awful, but boy have I been proven wrong over the course of the past few days! My order arrived on Thursday last week and I've been using the products eagerly ever since. I've especially fallen in love with this From Dusk Til Dawn eyeshadow palette.
Every single color on this palette is well pigmented, even the lighter shades. Some colors go on more smoothly, some are a bit more chalky, but overall, they're high quality and pleasant to use. I've tried almost all of the shades now in daily use and they all last at least 10 hours flawlessly - even without primer on. I do use a mineral makeup base by Lily Lolo, so that might also have something to do with the staying power. This palette might actually well be the highest quality one I own as the colors also don't fade or change color throughout the day like so many of my other eyeshadows seem to do. With a price tag of under 5 € I would definitely recommend this palette to anyone seeking to get through the whole season with just one set - and also to those who simply want a good palette that will literally take you from dusk till dawn - or from dawn till dusk and even beyond.
The MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder is a beautiful, softly pinkish highlighter that offers a really nice sheen without being overwhelmingly glittery.
The Mosaic Blusher English Rose is a very delicate pale pink blush which, from what I've heard doesn't really offer much of a blush to most light skintones, yet seems to give me a subtle, healthy glow with a hint of pink tint. Very good for everyday use. Both products are also very very affordable - and ideal for pale skintone like mine.
For lip products, I decided to try my all time favorite form of lip product - a chubby lipstick pencil, PowerPout, as MUA calls it in shade Rendezvous, which I expected to be a nude shade. It's not however. Instead, the shade on my lips turns into a very gorgeous, warmer red shade, giving my lips a certain "just bitten" -kind of look. The color seems to intensify after it has been applied. It also has great staying power and it fades beautifully. I highly recommend the product - as long as you don't expect it to be a nude shade. However, if you hate the smell of peppermint, don't buy it. I love the scent but I guess some people might hate the refreshinging mintyness.
I also bought the Scarlet Lip Trio, which I quite like as well. As with everything else by MUA, these too come with a good amount of pigment! The picture does show the colors lighter than they are, but basically the palette features two pink shades (darker & lighter) and a peachy shade. The light pink is a real bubble gum Barbie-style pink (which I'm a bit scared of) and the darker pink is a delicious, light fuschia pink, which works well for me. The peachy color is a darker peach, at least on my lips, and actually quite close to the Rendezvous PowerPout shade. My lips are naturally very pigmented however, so on pale lips these might look totally different!
I also ordered a this great blending and shadow brush which is very soft and works well for blending eyeshadows. The eye liners pack a good amount of pigment (unsurprising at this point) and practically glide on, causing no irritation. They also have a good amount of staying power. The lip liner unfortunately ended up being quite close to that bubble gum pink I mentioned earlier and as such may not be seeing as much use as I'd like. I'm still on the lookout for the perfect nude lip liner, which I could use with everything.
Overall, I'm very happy with my order and I will definitely be ordering more soon. I'm so happy to have found this cruelty free and affordable brand that ships to Finland (and pretty much everywhere else in the world too)!
Have YOU tried MUA Makeup Academy?

For the sake of a slow, kind of boring Sunday, I thought I'd put my newest eyeshadow palette (From Dusk Till Dawn by MUA Makeup Academy) to the test. I've been itching to try to the strong turquoise in the palette and now, since I don't have to go to work or anything, I gave it a whirl. Result: Gorgeous and super pigmented, intense shade with an epic shimmer to it! Brightened up the eyes with the white shade from the same palette and added a hint more depth with the deep, dark blue next to the turquoise.
I would highly recommend the palette to anyone interested on surviving the whole season with just 1 eyeshadow palette as this baby truly has everything I could think of needing for both subtle everyday looks as well as for dramatic evening looks. Also, at £4 this baby is an absolute steal!
In addition to MUA's eyeshadows, I'm also wearing the brand's PowerPout Lip Colour Tint in Rendezvous (a very natural shade for me) which I love because of it's soft, nourishing feel and perky peppermint scent. I've also used MUA's Undress Your Skin Highlighter and Mosaic Blusher English Rose, which on my pale skin works well as a light pinkish blush. Very natural. I'm also wearing Rimmel's BB cream with Lily Lolo finishing powder as a base and Rimmel's Lash Accelerator mascara for my lashes.
Normally I only wear Lily Lolo mineral foundation & powder as a base, but today I wanted to save time on base and just slapped on some BB cream, which gives a greater coverage too, but is slightly too dark for me, perhaps.
That's it for Sunday!
