I donāt follow football/soccer but I like that thereās a Muslim soccer player whoās so good that he made the city of Liverpool measurably less racist
Direct byproduct of being neurodivergent and growing up isolated from your peergroup is having no idea when it's appropriate to define someone as your friend
Is this person I met yesterday my friend? What about this person I've been talking to every day for three months? What about this person I've known since middle school? Is friend a title I have to earn? What are the limits of friendship? Is it a static state, make-or-break, or is it some endless dance-dance-revolution style cavalcade of prompts and challenges and social cues I have to hit perfectly to keep it up? Does it bend? Does it break? I don't fucking know man I just work here.
i still remember when the dude doing my autism assessment asked me how many friends I had, and I was like "okay but how are we defining friendship?" and he just like, stared at me for a second and then wrote down some notes
Jesus fucking christ it's not just me????
I mean how am I supposed to know I'm answering the question correctly if you don't provide the definition to make sure we're on the same page

arundhati roy is an Indian leftist activist and author, and this is a criticism of Gandhi and Gandhian politics. this context is important. she's lived through the failure of gandhi-esque politics.

What can you do when you have no audience? People have the right to resist annihilation." -Arundhati Roy. This quote knocked like 16 years of liberal pacifism out of me in one go. /End ID]

Why would you explain it this way
āOh boo hoo you shouldnāt ask your friends for favors weāre all adultsā
I just spent three hours pulling up carpet and staples for a friendās home renovation and we all did nothing but chat and joke and have wonderful conversation the whole time.
Helping somebody move or renovate or giving them a ride to the airport is functionally the same as going mini-golfing or playing a board game: itās an activity that you do that is made more fun by having good company, and which provides something to talk about when the conversation lulls.

Imagine if you encountered a humanoid like this in the forest, smiling and waving in a welcoming manner. You'd assume you were about to be abducted by aliens or perhaps fae.
"Iām still wandering through the streets, looking, sitting by the sea, enjoying the sunshine. I am entirely alone. I donāt know anyone, no one knows me, and for me that is a great pleasure."

You don't even need to study for the Rorschach test, btw, it's super easy. All they do is show you a bunch of stupid pictures of your dad getting eaten by a horse
