how do you approach life and how do you decide on what to say in certain scenarios?
were you the type to focus more on people's feelings, making decisions based on how your actions and words could make people feel? people centric some might say.
or were you the type to pay more attention to objective details and concrete logic?
because the latter was definitely jungwon.
mbti a known thing, like astrology, you know?
where it puts people into categories and labels based on particular characteristics. mbti is based on personality traits, correct.
it never really mattered to you.
you found it as a silly idea. could be accurate, could not be. it wasn't something you thought much or put too much value into it.
however, when you started dating jungwon, people kept mentioning how opposite you two were. especially when it came to your approach in conversations and decision making.
for example, if a friend ended up in a car crash, you'd ask if they were okay or if they have any injuries, person oriented. jungwon on the other hand, he would ask how bad the wreckage was or if your friend had insurance.
"it's just... if they were hurt badly, why would they call me and not the ambulance?" he argued.
it makes you roll your eyes because what would be more important than a person's well-being in that very moment. "what if she wanted to say her last words to you, if she knew she wouldn't make it?"
"okay, now you're being imaginative..."
throwing a pillow at him from across the room, "do you not see my point?"
"there is no point in what you said" he catches it and chucks it right back to you, "why are we even talking about this?"
you'd think being opposites on this matter would balance each other out. sharing different opinions lead to learning from each other and understanding perspectives. but when you got ms. stubborn and mr. prideful, that was not exactly the easiest to achieve.
"you're the one giving me offensive answers" pouting and hugging the pillow that was used to throw around.
"offe- oh my... y/n" you got him rubbing his temples now, trying to not turn this playful bickering into an actual argument. "i thought we were playing around, you know? stupid debate?"
you were growing sensitive, silly, you knew but you couldn't help shift in mood the more the conversation went on "we were until-"
jungwon cuts you off and finishes your sentence, "you got emotional about it?"
you didn't really answer after that.
he sighs and gets up from his seat and walks over to you, "hey, you're really upset?"
"it's stupid, i know..."
jungwon sits next to you and grabs a hold of your hands, placing a kiss on the back of it, "just because i don't share the same sentiment doesn't mean i overlook yours"
he continues console you, "i did not mean to upset you, okay? i'm sorry if i did"
why was he apologizing? you thought. you were just being a baby, way too sensitive it seems. not that he made you feel that way or think that way about yourself. it was all your doing. "it's fine, wonie. it's not your fault"
without saying anything more, he wraps an arm around your shoulders and brings you closer to him. kissing the top of your head and whispering in your ear, "don't overthink it, baby"
t or f?
it really didn't matter.
you had jungwon
and he had you
he accepted whatever you had going on.
whatever he had, you'd love.
that's the beauty of love and relationships, right?
"why don't we go out? go on a walk by the park?" sure, jungwon was an objective orientated guy but in no way was he not the anti-romantic type when it came to you.
that night, you two did go out on a walk. something you both enjoyed.
you knew this arrangement was never gonna change. you were going to be the soft and emotional one and jungwon is always going to be the analytical and rational.
bickering was gonna happen.
it's just about how you two go about those arguments and how it ends.
"the moonlight really makes you pretty" jungwon says as he stops walking just to look at you. "but to be fair, you're always pretty"
"even when you drool on me in your sleep" he teases.
pushing him away after that, "i do not drool"
you both share a laugh and a back and forth of "yes you do" and "no i don't". he would poke your sides, you'd jolt and try to back away. which led to you running away and around the park for him to chase after you.
catching up to you in a split second with how fast he could run, snatching you right up and twirling you around, not bothered if people were looking or not.
he twirled you around for a bit while you laughed and pleaded him to stop or you'll get dizzy.
"tell me i'm the best boyfriend first"
you complied without any hesitation, i didn't feel forced because you meant it. he was simply that.
he stops and puts you back down, turning you to face him. holding your waist gently and kissing your forehead. "promise me you'll be mine for a long time"
in the office, jungwon was strict, serious, and only came to work for one thing, work. that's why trying to crack jokes or do anything other than sending emails, filing paperwork, and whatnot, jungwon was not a fan.
even if you were his wife, in the office, you were his secretary.
you grew up with jungwon, a forced proximity is what some may label it as, the boy next door, etc. he was epitome of picture perfect, a gentleman, an adorable child that grew into a picture esque man.
somehow, he saw the same in you, choosing you to spend forever with. in holy matrimony, did he swear, vow, and promise to cherish the good and bad.
although, once he started to begin his career as an entrepreneur and business owner, his priorities shifted a bit. despite appointing you to be personal secretary, life revolved around the company, and everything was mainly focused on how to make the career investments better.
you really didn't want to lose your husband, your lover, not to this or to anything.
that is why you decided to press his buttons, try to lighten up the mood, to break into that pensive stony-face businessman. reckless and idiotic however, courageous.
"hi, baby" sweetly saying before you place down the stack of documents that require his signatures for confirmation. soon as jungwon hears that endearment, it's as if the wires in his mind were reprogramming, not expecting to hear you say that at this hour.
"y/n..." warning is what that was, the way it's spoken, with a tinge of annoyance. however, you proceed. not wanting to look so timorous.
you watch him act so accismus, playing a role he set up for himself.
"stop being so uptight, jungwon"
"y/n, i beg. get back to work" sighing and already feeling aggravated, jungwon just keeps his eye on the desktop screen, typing away.
usually you would listen but today, nuh uh.
"but i'm on break, babe. maybe you should be on one too." standing behind him and placing your hands on his shoulders and massaging it gently. "you work too much"
the way he shudders makes you feel proud, knowing you're getting somewhere near thawing his cold work businessman self.
"i don't need to take a break" he lies but the way you feel him melt in your hands and lean back into you, that's all you need before your hands go down from his shoulders to slowly descend to his chest. firstly, fiddling with his tie before your fingers tease inside his tux blazer.
"oh but you do..." continuing your little act and teasing the first three buttons of his shirt. "preferably with me".
jungwon literally has to get up and move away from you after that, wanting to keep it professional through the corporate walls. "don't do this to me" he's already breathing heavy, but not uncomfortable.
more of trying to suppress feelings he knows it's not time for.
"do what?"
"don't act innocent, you know what you're doing" he gives you one more glance before rushing to the bathroom, locking the door behind him.
once he's inside, he's already tugging his tie loose and running his hands through his hair before splashing his face with cold water.
while you sit in his huge office chair, one leg over the other as you twirl a pen with your fingers. eyes stuck to the door he left through, a smirk on your lips before calling out in a sing songy voice. "jungwonnn~"
inside, he's just shaking his head and tapping his cheeks. "for the love of..."

when you moved abroad, it was safe to say you were scared of not only making a good impression on others but also scared of being around the wrong people, being associated with people who didn't hold the same values and moral as you did.
that's why you tend to scan and really observed others, choosing to stay quiet and reserved until you deemed that person safe and you felt comfortable to be around.
the saying that it was better to have a few real friends than to be everyone's friend stuck to you and might as well of acted like a guide to surviving school.
also, the fact that your parents were on the stricter side of the parenting style kind of fitted with who you already were as a person in terms of making friends and choosing the people you wanted to be around.
that being said, you like to say you had a good read on people. however, it was never a full hundred percent now, was it? because there were people that were alluring, attractive, had a charm. people who knew how to act and play a certain part to trick a handful of people.
exhibit a: sim jaeyun or also known as jake.
when you first transferred to your new school, there were already whispers going around how jake would love you, how you seemed to be the perfect one. whatever the hell that meant.
those whispers came with warnings by some students telling you to not cross paths with jake, not to interact, do not indulge, no matter how sweet it sounded.
so, you prepared yourself, well, enough...
cause absolutely nothing could have prepared you for the sweet aussie accent and the handsome face that came with it.
"hey, new kid" a simple teasing greeting was the first thing he said as you were organizing your locker.
"you must be the famous jake everyone keeps telling me to stay aay from?" turning to face him and gosh, that face, the smile.
hey no, y/n, focus.
"yeah, that's me but don't listen to them, i'm harmless" you saw right through it, the good boy facade, the fake nice guy act. to you, it was obvious he was full of it. sure, he was beautiful, but you weren't about to have your time wasted and a potential broken heart on beautiful but fake and authentic.
"i don't think that's true, pretty boy" closing the locker, making sure it's locked before giving him a polite smile and walk away from it.
and if you think that was gonna be the first and last interaction you were gonna have with sim jaeyun, oh honey... you were dead wrong.
cause that same day, you were seated in the middle of class when you hear a chair behind you get pulled out, scrapping the floor a bit and a shoulder tap after the individual sat down. "pretty boy, huh?"
you tried to ignore him, really you did, but the shoulder taps were getting so persistent, wanting your attention so bad, clearly. even your seatmate noticed and tried to tell you not to give in and just focus on the lesson.
but how were you gonna do that when he kept doing it, calling you "new kid" and other things to try to get you turn around and maybe scold him.
"i'm not gonna stop, you know"
you really didn't know what his deal was, you, the person you self-proclaimed to be a good person reader. all of a sudden you were struggling to understand a silly annoying college boy.
"what is he? two?" you whisper to your seatmate, making her laugh and shake her head, "not even two-year-olds can be that annoying"
somehow, through a miracle, you manage to ignore jake and just zone out while taking notes, but that doesn't mean he stopped after class. because as soon as the professor dismissed everyone, jake's quickly standing up and blocking your way. he has a smirk on his face, on that stupid handsome face. "awh, cmon, it's not nice of you to ignore people on your first day"
how stupid.
"and it's not rude for you to block my way and disturb me in class?" at this point, not even two hours yet of knowing jake, you started to understand why others told you to stay away from him.
cause gosh darn was he annoying.... ly handsome
i kid.
but in all seriousness, from that day on, jake made it his life mission to stick around you all day, every day. usually, you were the one calling the shots and choosing your own friends, picking the people you wanted to have in your circle. however, for the first time, someone was choosing you, annoyingly so.
"why are you so mean, y/n? i just wanna be friends" jake tugs the sleeve of the short you are wearing, giving you puppy eyes and a pout.
"see, i don't know how true that is" the two of you were walking the halls of the engineering department after finishing up your physics lecture for the day. you were already planning to get out, send the free period with friends, maybe in a cafe or something, just somewhere on the huge campus. unfortunately, for you, jake had other options for you, all including him. without even realizing it, you were letting jake take the lead, following his steps as he distracted you by talking about today's lesson, going through it again with you. next thing you know, you were walking out the building and into the sun and down the path.
"i'm really not the guy you think i am or what everyone labels me as"
jake took you to a quiet spot on campus, under a huge sycamore tree, some leaves falling down beautifully and gracefully to the floor, the wind soft and cooling to the skin.
you think about what he just said, how he wasn't the guy people claim him to be. heck, you'd be lying if you said weren't interested in knowing what caused this whole label of him being trouble and warnings to stay away from him.
"fine... spill" sitting next to him under the tree, looking at his side profile as he thought about how and where to even start.
the things you found out that day made you realize that maybe you did view things, people specifically, in a close-minded way.
jake opened up to you and answered all your questions. explaining how it was getting to try to reclaim his name and clear accusations, rumors, and the labels, saying people will believe what they want to believe.
it was silly how it all started from an ex-girlfriend who did not have the decency to just break up with him mutually when she fell out of love, instead she had to make up a lie to the whole school that jake cheated on her and that he was such a douchebag. since then, people took her word with little to no evidence.
"i don't really care anymore, my friends know the truth and know me well and what kind of person i am". it was safe to say, you were slightly wrong about sim jaeyun. slightly as in, you were still right how annoying he can be but now annoying in an endearing way.
"but that doesn't help explaining why you were always trying to bug me in my first week here"
"i wanted to make sure you weren't brain washed by everyone else... selfish it may sound but it's true... plus, i thought... you were pretty"
you don't really know if there was any way in fixing his reputation, but one thing was for sure, you started giving him a chance to prov himself that he was not the guy. the more time you spent with him, the more he opened up, more you did too. however, there were now people saying how dumb you were for falling for it.
"but have you personally seen him do it? have you seen him be mean? have you even talked to him"
you found yourself defending him, even when he wasn't around you. it was starting to click to you that these people were making rash judgement on someone they didn't even know nor get to know.
it gave you the realization that you fell victim to that mentality too. now seeing how stupid it sounded to think that you were a good person reader by just an observation from afar.
but i guess that's what growing up is, learning and rebuilding.
you still thought the saying that it was better to have a few real friends than to be everyone's friend was true. however, you thought maybe, you could add a new friend in that list.
jake.
"i'm just saying, maybe if you stopped being a pussy and just ride the rollercoaster with me?" he nudges you to the end of the line of the said ride he wants you to join him on.
today was your university's annual field trip, for your degree and/or college specifically. the college of engineering masked an assignment in travelling and fun.
"we are supposed to be studying and taking notes" was the excuse you used but that was no match to jake's persistence. "homework, homework, you're no fun" he says as he holds onto your shoulders to keep you there in line with him. "lighten up, y/n. it's not every day we get to be at an amusement park."
so you did, you stood in multiple lines with him, rode so many rides, had vast varieties of food, and laughed a lot. but what really stood out to you was that every ride you rode with jake, he always held tight to your hand, saying it was to calm you down and somehow, it did calm you down, every single time.
"where to know? i think we still have forty minutes left" jake says as he takes your bag and slings it over his other shoulder, removing his hat and putting it on you. the kind gesture kind of throws you off and makes your heart flutter faster. "here, drink some water" holding out a bottle to you, bringing it to your lips, tilting it for you, all you had to so was drink it down. after he closes it and puts it back in his bag. "now answer my question, y/n"
you have already learned that jake was a caring guy but how did he still manage to surprise you with being so gentle... romantic even. wait, am i reading too much into it?
"i feel like we went around the whole park already" you say as you look up at him, seeing him smile and chuckle at your answer, nodding once, agreeing with you.
"you're not wrong." his smile, wow isn't it perf- stop y/n.
"do you wanna sit down? we've been sitting down for a while" he waits for you to nod before walking over to a nearby open bench that is near the many display fountains of the park. taking a seat next to you and casually placing an arm on the backrest behind you, leaning back and manspreading like he owns the amusement park.
"aren't your friends looking for you?"
"nah, they're all probably with their own girlfriends, sneaking somewhere priv-" you nudge him, cutting him off and giving him a look. "i don't want to know about your friends' escapades."
jake just tilts his head back, covering his mouth as he giggles, oh how adorable, you thought.
"don't worry, petal. they're all fine"
petal? where did that come from? why was he calling me that? heck, it makes you choke on the chips you two were sharing.
quickly he pats your back and hands you the water bottle from earlier, "easy now, petal" yeah great, that's helping me, sim
after a few moments, you ask "why are you calling me that?" to which he just shrugs, not answering you. "oh now you wanna be mysterious?" again, he just smiles and sticks out his tongue at you.
he laughs; you roll your eyes.
that's just you and jake.
when you're preoccupied with your thoughts, jake sneakily reaches behind you, disguising this as an act of stretching. he reaches over to the fountain, takes a bit of water and splashes you with it, the surprisingly cold water runs down your back making you yelp and stand up. jake laughing his ass off, not noticing you taking some water and throwing it directly at his face. taking no offense to it, actually delighted you took the roue he was going for, he suddenly stands up too and picks you up, "say you're sorry and i'll out you down" he says through giggles when you cling to him, not wanting to fall in the fountain he's hovering you over. "apologize for what? you started it'
"fine then, you asked for it" he playfully lowers you but not enough to where you're in the water yet.
"okay okay! i am sorry" the way you're clinging to him should be criminal for the way it's making his heart race. either way, he plays it cool and puts you back on the floor, dry and safe. "you ass!" you swat his arm right when he puts you down.
"alright, my bad. now let's go back to the bus. it's a long walk back" without thinking, he takes your hand and holds it, guiding you through the crowd.
"why the heck did you do that?" referring to the little water fight. he just tells you that he got bored of sitting and also because he thought you were cute when angry. classic sim jaeyun.
days eventually turn into weeks, and then months. months of spending most days with jake.
he even impressed your strict parents, the same parents that warned you about boys. somehow jake beats all odds and wins your parents over.
it's the sim jaeyun charm, huh?
slowly but surely, jake became your addiction and you became his.
it was weird, he'd find himself sneaking out late, out the dorms and to your house at 2 am. for what? that's for him to know and for you to figure out. not carrying if he was wearing pajamas, he was speeding to your place like a marathon. throwing rocks at your window after you didn't respond to his text. "y/n, i know you're awake! i saw you online on league"
groaning, you pull the sheets off you and draws the curtains, finding him indeed there. opening up the window, he's already climbing up and sitting on your windowsill, "why weren't you answering my text, petal?" it didn't sound upset, not like a toxic boyfriend, just asking.
"maybe i was, i dont know... asleep?" letting him in and closing the window again. "why are you?"
jake shrugs, walks over to your bed and plopping down onto it. "wanted to see you" nonchalantly saying as if he won't see you tomorrow morning on campus. "always want to see you"
says friends say that, right? you thought.
with no response from you, he holds out his hand, waiting for you take it and once you do, he tugs you down onto him, lying you down above him, smirking. "no, friends don't casually say that" and the way your eyes widen, shocked he knew what you were thinking, he chuckles, "yeah, you're not the only person that can read people here". jake then continues by saying how friends definitely don't cuddle like this, do they?
"petal, you're cold... let me warm you up" keeping you where you are, wrapping his arms around you and nuzzling his nose into your hair, smelling the shampoo he secretly loved.
"jake, are you drunk?" you knew he wasn't but you just gotta ask.
all that gets you is a snicker from jake and shake of his head, "don't be ridiculous, y/n. i thought you were you smart".
"you really don't know why i call you petal, don't you?"
he starts off by brushing the hair out of your face, his thumb softly touches your cheek and caressing it before looking at you, "flowers, petals, they're delicate, right?" with a nod from you, he continues, "they need to be taken care of, protected, loved for them to continue to grow and become the best version of who they are..." clearing his throat before speaking again, not once his eyes leaves yours, it's like he wants you to understand he's not being nothing less of sincere. "you're my petal, someone i really really want to keep safe and in my protection and i'm not saying that in a weird ceo mafia possessive ass kind of way" laughing with you.
"i mean it in the most normal romantic way as possible"
it's cute. the guy you were told to stay away from is now confessing his love for you on a random early friday morning. the same guy you got on your nerves in the beginning is now here, and all you want is him to continue being around you. "you're crazy..."
that simple remark to everything he just said makes him smile and lean in closer, "just tell me to stop and i will" looking down at your lips and back up to your eyes, waiting for you to tell him he's not what you want nor need.
you smile back and just close the gap between you and kiss him ever so soft.
"after all that, you just call me crazy?" he giggles against your lips.
being his girl best friend was all you ever been and you wanted to keep it that way. however, his current girlfriend did not feel the same way.
you knew that your friendship with heeseung was never gonna be taken well by romantic partners, some may understand but in the back of your mind, there was an expectation that some partners were against it.
which leads us to current day, night to be specific. heeseung was entering your apartment door with a spare key he has, a frustrated look on his face, calling out to you.
he knew it was stupid, wrong even. to come to you when you were the exact reason why he had an argument with his girlfriend.
"she's just so hardheaded" plopping down onto your bed after slamming the door, not caring if it echoes loudly throughout the apartment. "at this point, i should just record myself saying you're just a friend and replay it to her every time she accuses us of dating or having a thing"
it was hard to find a way to comfort him just because this has happened so many times, you tried to play both sides, understanding both sides, or being the peacemaker when you know you're the villain in her mind.
"i keep explaining to her that we're platonic and that we don't do anything that warrants an accusation of cheating"
which was true, you and heeseung knew where the boundaries were and where the line starts and ends.
"should i break up with her?" heeseung tended to ask you that question a lot and you always told him it was not your position to do so. telling him it was his relationship and whatnot.
"can you imagine yourself living a life without her?" you ask
"i can't imagine a life without you" there it was, he always said some variation of that. how he could live without a lover but not without you.
to an outsider that basically sounded like a confession, and maybe it was but you always saw it as a platonic need.
"you should really go back and talk to her... you can't keep losing girlfriends because of me, i am starting to feel way too bad"
he just shakes his head and snuggles further into your warm clean sheets, tossing his phone to the side before making sure it's on silent, "she just doesn't get it, okay?"
"you know what she said to me earlier?" he continues, not letting you answer, "she said if i really respected her, she wouldn't have to ask me to cut you off"
he further then tell you how his girlfriend argues that guys and girls can't be best friends without one of them secretly wanting to sleep with the other. "i swear she was playing the victim card"
by next week he's already back at your place, seeking comfort, assurance, all that same stuff you tell him every single time he comes over for this reason.
"i'm tired of being your love doctor, man" you stare at the same man that you have but only this time, he's gotten himself drunk and currently barely coherent.
"then be my girlfriend, y/n" he slurs, you almost don't catch it. he continues to speak anyway, "put an end to this and just be mine".
you didn't know what to say, this isn't how night like this went. even the times where he has gotten drunk before. he had never confessed anything like that, never expressed romantic feelings, drunk and/or sober.
"i'm sorry?" you kept telling yourself that he was drunk, not in the right mind, clearly sh!tfaced. heeseung just stares back at you, waiting for a reaction, and you, waiting for him to say it was a joke or prank but after a long time of silence, nothing comes.
"you can't say sh!t like that, heeseung" but the smirk on his face does not go away, he's still looking at you like trying to convince you that what he said was serious. "i mean it"
now he was removing the blanket off him and scooting closer to you, almost in a crawling motion. eyes on you and clearly had something in mind. "i never really realized how perfect you are for me"
his fingers reach and take hold on your ankles and caresses the skin there. before whenever this did happen, you thought nothing about it. however now, you're second guessing his intentions here. "heeseung?"
he justs hums and keeps his eyes on the prize.
your lips.
"what are you doing?" he has gotten closer now, face to face, resting his forehead on yours.
"what does it look like i am doing?"
this is wrong, it should not be happening.
that's why you had to scoot back just a bit and keeping your hand on his chest to create distance. "no, heeseung... we can't"
"why not? everyone is basically shipping us together?"
"you have a girlfriend..." he scoffs at that, looks down and shakes his head before looking back at you. "plus you're drunk"
"so, if i was sober, you'd kiss me?" you almost wanna say yes but you just laugh it off, nudge him back down to lay and tuck him in. the whole time, he's just looking at you, hand on your wrist, the other on your waist.
"shut up and sleep now, heeseung..."
"that wasn't a no"
was it cheating? you weren't sure. did you feel guilty, hell yeah. but did you want to kiss him and maybe something more? ...yeah.
"how many times do i have to tell you that i am not interested in you?" was many of the things heeseung has told you growing up.
he was never rude about it either, he always let you down easy, not wanting to be so cold hearted but maybe because of that, maybe because of the fact that you were the type to never back down and quit. you were born with the mentality and thought process of 'if i want it, imma get it'. some called it spoiled; you called it determined.
there was just something in the air that told you that the little boy that moved next door was gonna be the one for you.
"daddy, please, can i go greet them?" you were four, jumping up and down, tugging on your dad's dirty blue jeans but your eyes on your mom who was about to leave the house, holding a freshly baked pie for the neighbors.
"you're supposed to be taking a nap, bluebell" his reply only makes you pout and tug on his pant leg harder, making him smile and laugh, looking to his wife for some help.
only for your mother to just shake her head at him and reaching a free hand out to you, coming to your side. "come on, darlin, come with mamma" in an instant you're clinging to your mom and waving your dad off as the door closes.
the moment you reach the neighbors ranch, your mom knocks on the door and soon after a woman around her age opens the door and greets her sweetly before looking down at you and calling you adorable.
while the moms make small talk, your mom handing over the pie, the only thing you focus on is the boy hiding behind his dad's leg. a little taller boy by his side, waving at you.
you then learn that shy kid was your age and named heeseung and since you had trouble with saying his name, his mom suggested you call him evan.
since that day, you weaseled your way into his life, constant play overs or sometimes you just chasing after him in the shared fields of you and his family.
you grew up together, shared moments that turned into memories, heeseung was not always so cold like the way he is now.
the change was noticeable when you two entered puberty. he came over less, told his mom to not let you in became frequent, but interactions were never zero. you were neighbors after all.
"why won't you go play with her, sport?" his dad hands him a juice box as heeseung is in the living area doing his homework.
"dad, she's a skeeter. too much sometimes"
the years that followed were the same, he kept you at an arm's distance but you? you just pulled that held out hand and brought him closer to you.
"you like pushing people away, huh?" you ask him one afternoon, both now in their early twenties, sitting on a roof, enjoying the sunset.
"doesn't matter to you because you keep pulling me back" he rolls his eyes but a smile is on his face as it's turned away from you. not wanting you to see the growing pink tint on his cheeks.
"oh so you are aware, then stop running..."
the afternoon was not exactly fruitful when it came to getting an explanation from heeseung. but there was a shift, maybe him deciding it was pointless to try to avoid you when you kept popping into his daily life anyway.
he was a smart boy, he was skilled and knew his way around life. although, when it came to feelings and relationships that go pass family, he was a goner. he had reasons to why he was putting walls up, acting like he wanted nothing to do with you.
reasons he didn't even fully think and understand himself.
but now at the age of twenty four. he was starting to think it was time to stop putting himself last, wanting to stop pretending like you weren't the prettiest flower in the field.
"there's a reason why i rejected you a handful of times, bluebell..." that morning, instead of you going over to his house, he was the one going to yours. asking you to follow him.
leading you through the fields, woods, and to the waterfalls.
"bluebell? only my dad calls me that" you say as you looked out at the water painting a beautiful picture as they fall down the high rocks.
"and i understand why he does" you don't even notice him staring at you, your eyes were glued to the falls while his were on your side profile. something he secretly, for years, tried to memorize every single feature on your face. "yn, can you look at me please?"
which you do, meeting his eye4s. and for some reason, today, you see the difference of how he is looking at you.
if back then, when you were kids, he would be looking at you in a annoyed expression as you dragged him across the green grass when all he wanted to do was anything that did not involve you. but now, he's looking at you with soft curious eyes, eyes filled with so much wonder, welcoming and maybe even affection.
"i'm sorry for being such an idiot"
"why are you apologizing?"
heeseung sighs and starts explaining how he was just a confused little guy that did not know what loving someone else felt like, a teenager that thought girls had cooties or whatever.
it a funny yet endearing conversation, both of you learning that whatever happened in the past happened for a reason but now taking in the current moment and the possibility of this could be something.
"it was silly of me saying i don't want anything to do with you when all i ever wanted was to hold you, i just didn't know it back then", he continues by saying how he was taught to build fences, repair barns, feed chickens, groom horses, rally sheep, etc. but never got to learn and make room for love that's not familial or platonic.
"then let me teach you" reaching out to hold his hand, this time he doesn't pull away, actually intertwining your finger with his.
moving back to montana was always the goal ever since you had the mind to think for yourself, feeling like a foreigner in the city and just living on auto-pilot since your parents had a divorce, your mom winning custody of you and taking you to live in nevada with her.
the look on your father's face when he saw the truck pull up to his family's ranch house and finding it out it was you. dressed up in already dirty jeans, plain white tee and a flannel over it, and of course, you can't forget the boots and cowboy hat that has grown too small. the same hat your dad brought you when you turned five years old.
he was out in the front yard rebuilding the fence that was getting weaker and need some care. when you stepped out of the truck, circled the back and grabbed your luggage. for a split second, your dad thought he was hallucinating.
you stood there, looking just like how you did when you left, just grown up. wearing your hair into pigtails with cute ribbons at the ends. just the sight of the tiny kids' cowboy hat making his tears glassy with tears.
"y/n..." his voice was weak, cracks, so soft you barely heard it.
you turned around and looked at your dad again for the first time in 9 years. nine selfish years that your mom kept you from your father. "...hi, dad"
at the sound of your voice, he immediately drops his materials and rushes over to you. pulling you into his arms with no hesitation. "you're so grown up..."
"i thought i would never see you again" he continues, not even embarrassed as tears streamed down his face. meanwhile you clutched him just as he was to you. clinging tightly as if you were scared that this was all just a silly dream and if you let go, you'd wake up in the dark, sad bedroom back in nevada.
your dad pulled back to look at you, his hands gently holding your face, taking in your appearance, "just like you never left..." he pulled you back into his arms and hugged you while gently swaying you. "my little girl all grown up"
everything after that fell into place. a few weeks after the reunion, the celebrations, you spent every day outside, enjoying the open fields, the warm welcoming sky and the sweet farm animals.
you tried to refine your rusty skills. like today, you stood near the stables, your sleeves rolled up, hair in braids, dirt already on your jeans, mud on your jeans. currently trying to make friends with one of your father's horses. a beautiful brown american quarter horse.
"you stubborn horse... cmon, help me out here" you were sounding desperate already, early at seven in the morning, because of a horse that took time to warm up to you.
"bud, i'm not asking for much..." but the horse just snorts and turns away from you, already running off. heading towards your dad who was nearby fixing a fence, as if asking to be saved by some rando girl trying to mount it.
it did not take you long enough to chase after it, "I FED YOU! GROOMED YOU, I TALKED TO YA FOR HOURS!" but to no avail, the horse paid you no mind.
"this is so humiliating... you're so rude"
the horse only gets father and farther away from you as if taunting you, enjoying itself running around the open grassy field. until it hears a sharp whistle, commanding sounding.
stopping as soon as the whistle starts. just then, you finally get to crouch and catch your breath.
the horse stops by the man who commanded it to come over, soon as the horse nudge into him, he chuckles and pets it before looking over at you. "well, isn't it little miss city girl"
the charming voice, you knew that voice.
you stood back up, looking up, recognizing those eyes right away. then you saw it, barely seen under his worn out flannel; a birthmark on his neck that was shaped like a heart. "jongseong?"
with no more thinking, you ran.
straight into his arms, burying your face into his chest. meanwhile, he almost stumbled back in surprise but still hugging you back. heartbeat speeding up. "it's really you, huh?"
"how did you recognize me?"
"you still don't know how to whistle, thats why" his jab makes you laugh and swat at his arm. "very funny..."
jongseong pulls back, looking at you before glancing at the horse and greeting your dad with a hat tip when he passes by before entering the house.
with a chuckle and looking back at you, "you need some help?"
you looked into his eyes before tearing your eyes away cause you knew you'd start blushing. turning back at the open field, the sun high up in the sky, greenery stretched for miles, home.
"yeah, please"
jongseong brushes a strand of hair out your face before smiling, "of course, darlin"
"get out of my room, you guys are so annoying" throwing yet another pillow o your friends, leaving you with nothing but your blanket and mattress left.
"don't you feel bad that you're always third, four, fifth wheeling on dates?" they try to reason with repeated sentiments and ideas that never really stuck to you, reasons you never really cared for or really considered.
"is it so bad to be single? can't a girl like being alone?"
"not when you're this amazing"
of course, they never left out the compliments, flattering but still, what's so wrong with being single and content with that?
usually they would give up, call it a night and just leave you to be, so you expected the same tonight. not all your friends pushing you off your bed, taking you to the bathroom, doing your makeup, hair, and putting in you an outfit.
all the while, still keeping you, you. true to your own style.
by the end, they're taking you outside, having your house keys hostage as they lock the front door and lead you to the park.
"we really do want the best for you"
"it was never about getting a boyfriend"
"it's about going out, living life, spending time with us..."
"seriously, we wonder how you still have friend after all this time"
they didn't mean it as jabs, just thoughtful criticism. deep down, you knew they had a point, being a homebody and only leaving the house if necessary.
"... fine, what could go wrong?"
exactly, nothing that night went wrong, your question stayed unanswered as you all did the stuff you enjoyed doing together.
everything, everyone, the world around you blurred out as you and your friends strolled the streets as if the world was yours.
that little bubble popped when a man around your age was literally blowing bubbles in front of a seven eleven.
prying, asking, bothering strangers was never your thing but with the adrenaline of the night caused you to speak up. "aren't you too old to blow bubbles?"
the male pauses and looks at you with a confused look, holding still as if he's checking if you're talking to him or not. wait... of course it's me, he thought. he was the only one blowing bubbles.
"i don't smoke, so..."
"what does that have to do with blowing bubbles"
"hey, a man gotta find a vice or something" his sassy remark makes you smile, followed with a small chuckle. "... sunoo, i'm sunoo"
"y/n... nice to meet you"
since then, sunoo quickly became one of your close friends. finding time in his busy schedule to spend time with you, learning about you, and vice versa.
sunoo was a constant reminder that life hits you with surprises randomly, bringing people into your life that you did not know you needed.
before him, you thought you had everyone you needed. you figured the amount of people in your life was enough.
but life suggested you needed one more.
"stop squirming, let me do it" he's already swatting your hand away as he's acting like a personal stylist. adjusting the collar of the dress you're wearing. "now turn around, i'll do the zipper"
turning around anyway "you're awfully into this"
"maybe i'm just into you"
woah... what was that? why was your heart pounding so much?
"shut up, don't say that"
sunoo snickers and holds the zipper that's hanging at your low of your back and slowly pulling it up and sliding it close. you felt every hair on your arm stand up. "relax, you know i'm joking"
from behind, sunoo leans closer and bends down just a bit to whisper in your ear "... mainly".
this all new for you, he was never like this, not you at least. sure, he's been flirty, jokingly so, to other people he was close to. but now, why you?
reminds you of how you unlock certain things in a game when you reach a level. but this wasn't a game, this was sunoo.
"what??" facing him soon after he says it, catching you off guard. yes, you couldn't recognize him in this very moment, but you weren't uncomfortable... you were intrigued.
"what?" he just throws the question back at you, now smirking so smugly like he knew what he was doing, what he was doing to you.
your heart was still racing, mind thinking so much it's giving you a headache, but for some reason, your eyes were stuck on his, like you were in a trance. "... i'm just gonna go change-"
that's when sunoo takes a hold of your wrist before you got any further away from him. turning you back and facing him, tugging you to him to the point where you were now chest to chest, way too close. "no, let me look at you a bit longer... beautiful."
where is this all coming from? you wondered.
you never had a solution or explanation on why he acted that way in the mall. either way, he did not stop acting like that towards you.
the way he looked at you too when he flirted with you, looking into your eyes and reading your body language to know when you were uncomfortable so he can quit it
but the signs never came.
you always leaned into it.
and he knew that.
"you really gotta relax..." he has you currently, pinned to the couch as he hovers above you and looking at you. "i know you like me"
"like you? what?"
sunoo goes on explaining, telling you the observations he grew to catch spending time with you. comparing how you act around others and with him. you couldn't even believe how observant he was, a good listener, how he paid attention to those things. "just say you don't and i'll stop"
he was called golden for a reason, the star boy, the lady killer. not for being a playboy, no, no. jake wasn't a player at all. quite the opposite. he was called a lady killer for that damn smile paired with dimples that look like they were carefully crafted by angels themselves.
the skills and talents he was given, being able to do anything, pick up and hobby and ace them in such a short amount of time. skills that usually take people ages to master was easy peasy lemon squeezy for jake.
it caused him to have enemies but a hell lot of admirers, both men and woman.
you were no exemption there. you were smitten from the very start of meeting him back in college. sharing the same course and the degree you were pursuing.
jake never saw you as competition, in fact, he was welcoming than anyone you ever met before. he attended toy ou, helped you in lessons you did not understand, stayed back to tutor you. that's how the friendship grew.
the whole time, people started keeping an eye on you. especially his fangirls who were obsessed with him. called you names, threw stuff at you, etc.
you never had the chance to rebuttal because jake was already hauling you away, either by dragging you by the arm or carrying you out. always telling you "they don't matter" or "they're a waste of your time... spend it with me instead"
throughout the whole time you guys were just friends, jake would take any opportunity to say something flirty, shoot his shot per se. you'd take them as jokes until he couldn't take it anymore and kissed you during a study hang out in the library.
ever since then, you two have been dating and going strong.
"will you stop kissing me, baby?" the way he said it wasn't anything rude sounding, he was laughing between words and trying to playfully and gently push you away.
in petty nature, which seemed be your regular emote. pouting immediately and crossing your arms but remaining still in his lap.
"so... what i am hearing... is that you hate me?"
things like this were never serious for you and jake, he knew you were just wanting to be babied by him and you knew the line of serious and playful. knowing when he's in the mood or not.
"i did not say that, babe" putting emphasis on the 'not' and sighing before pulling you back closer to him.
"that's what i heard"
"yeah cause you're delusional" jake says with a smile before placing a hand on your nape and pulling you closer to kiss you, not letting another snappy, sassy remark leave your lips.
"you cheater"
"cheating? or just strategic?" going back in for another longer, more affectionate kiss, not rushed, just... love.
things were easy for you and him, everything just seemed for fall in place. so it was very funny to the two of you whenever you heard snide remarks from people who claimed it was only puppy love and how it's not real, yada yada yada. people from the outside claimed and theorized a lot of things.
but jake never gave you a reason to doubt him and his love for you and of course, you, wanting to do the same.
everything was genuine and pure, so why would you want to let the outside effect what you have with someone so amazing.
tonight was supposed to be a usual boring one, spent all alone in the darkness of your room. the only light source is the phone you hold in your hand as you wait for his call or text.
you did not want to expect too much; he was a busy man after all.
so, with tired eyes and a filled mind, you ended up falling asleep. the phone still lit, make up on your face, wearing your going out clothes you wore when meeting friends earlier in the day.
it didn't really cross your mind whether or not your boyfriend was coming home to you or to the dorms.
the dorms are closer to the company, but your apartment was much closer to his heart, dorms were dorms, an accommodation but you? your place was home to him.
and he'd do anything to be at home.
traffic was nothing to him, the long car ride wasn't a nuisance either, especially if the trade was to see you and be in your arms, sleeping peacefully.
when he arrived, all the lights were off, as expected, it was already past midnight. he quietly navigated through the dark with hands reaching familiar furniture, remembering the layout of the place.
finally, upon reaching your ajar bedroom door, he pushes it open and spots you there on the bed. the door creaks and his footsteps make noise on the floor but you're still out like a light.
he approaches you and sits down on the edge of the bed, pushing away the strands of hair that are blocking his view of your pretty face, smiling to himself when he pans his eyes over every relaxed feature of you. a thumb caressing your cheek for a moment before he gets up and walks over to your bathroom and grabbing the necessities.
he knew your routine down to a t, his habit of admiring you paid off for times like this.
gently, not to you wake you up, he uses a make-up remover and makes sure every trace of product is off and leaving you bare face.
he takes his time, not wanting to rush, because to him, there is no rush. everything, every moment he gets with you, he does not want to rush it. in fact, it's the opposite. he wants time to slow down and just be with you as much as his busy schedule allowed.
by the time he was done and disposed everything, he took a quick shower and change clothes. coming back to you and carefully placing a blanket onto you and him.
placing an arm across your body and tugging you ever so softly to him. humming in satisfaction as he feels the warmth of you and the smell of your shampoo.
"goodnight, my love" pressing a kiss to your temple before drifting off to dreamland as well. hoping to meet you there as well.
why do you write enha as dads especially the maknae line? one where they've got grown kids when enhypen's too young for that right now? that means they had those kids as minors? there are popular idols who are in the appropriate age for these tropes
i get what you are saying, i understand but babes, it's not meant to be taken that deeply. when i write these fictional stories, especially the dad ones, i'm writing in a place that is taken in the future.
obviously, i am aware the maknae line, enhypen in general are young, so clearly, the trope won't be that fitting but then again like i said, it's supposed to be read with the idea that its taken in the future, when they're older.
ALSOOOO these fics are REQUESTED and i'm too nice to say no to them, alright?
Jake x female shy reader with extroverted toddler girl who runs into the mens bathroom at the airport in an unsupervised moment and jake is hiding in one of the toilets from crazy fans waiting for his security to safe him. Confused situation with cuteness?

after getting gifted a four-day break from idol duties, the first thing that came to jake's mind was going on a trip with his wife and daughter.
the moment he got the confirmation he was already on his phone booking hotels and flights to place that was on his bucket list and sending you the receipts, texting you to get prepared.
it was all supposed to be rainbows and sunshine, although, unfortunately, you can't have a rainbow without some rain.
and in this case, the rain was overbearing and obtrusive fans who liked to push through the boundaries and disregard others just to get a glimpse of sim jaeyun.
in times like that, he'd just go along with it, walking through the tight space due to the crowd, not wanting to create any buzz if he every reacted in a way that seen as rude or ungrateful.
however, with the lack of bodyguards with him, his flight or fight response kicked in and decided to hide in the men's bathroom to call for help, like it was a huge emergency that he needed back up on a mission.
"i didn't think it get this bad, i don't even know how they knew my flight details"
he was told to stay put and wait for security to help with the crowd.
although as he waited for the big scary guy to get him out of this predicament, he got the total opposite.
"MOVE OUT OF MY WAY!" a tiny girly voice yelled as she squeezed people that crowded the airport and the entrance of the men's bathroom.
he knew, it was his little girl coming to the rescue.
"DADDY, I'M HERE!" there she was, in the men's bathroom, running up to him and demanding upsies, to which he gladly granted.
"now what are you doing here, playing superhero?"
she doesn't even answer, just hops back down to the floor and taking his had before heading to the entrance of the bathroom.
with a determined expression that tried to look scary, she steps out and looks at all the fans blocking the way "step back, please. and i am asking nicely". it makes jake laugh although what comes after made the laugh die down quickly into a shocked expression.
the crowd actually listened to his daughter like she held authority. parting to make a pathway for her. "thank you, now NO FLASHES AND CAMERAS!!"
by the time the two reached back to you at the boarding area, jake was smiling ear to ear, a grin of being so proud of his savior of a daughter. "did my baby save daddy?"
she immediately let's go of jake's hand and runs up to land on your lap, nodding. "i did, mommy!!" flexing her nonexistent muscles. pulling her into a hug and kissing her head. "good girl, that's my brave girl"
"i thought i was gonna be there forever and miss our flight" jake sat next to you and placed an arm over your shoulder, finally being able to take a breather. "next time, i won't forget to bring security with me... i'm sorry, honey" kissing your temple and then patting his toddler's head. "i'm sorry, sweetpea"

heeseung
all it took was a second for heeseung to lose his mind once he looked back to where his son was supposed to be, realizing he was not holding onto his jeans no longer.
taking a look around his surroundings, panicked and wondering what you'd do to him if you found out he lost his son.
"daddy, over here!" finding his son in the middle of the road, heading towards a particular store across the road, a store he loved so much.
rushing over quickly just before the walk sign goes red, picking up his son once he was close. "do not do that again, you hear me?!" walking to safety. but even with his scolding, his son just laughs in his arms and clings to his dad like he did not just give him a mini heart attack.
jongseong
he thought he was the dad that had it all together, had the family in check at all times, never missing, never letting anything go bad.
that's what he thought, never meant it was true.
jongseong was one hundred percent sure that his kid was just right in front of him, playing on the grass, at the park. although, when he looked back to check up on him, he wasn't in sight, the close to empty park was now feeling like it was filled, filled with uncertainty and lose.
"where the-" spinning in his spot, trying to remember what you put him in this morning. that's when he heard car horns from the distance.
rushing over and pulling his son back before he could even step foot on the road, keeping him on the sidewalk. his concerned words end up not being reached to the bothered toddler who was now watching his balloon fly up in the sky. tears already threatening to fall and lips quivering in a pout. "hey, it's okay, daddy will buy you a new one"
jaeyun
you trusted him, he was the father after all. trusting him to keep an eye on his son as you went to the bathroom.
but no.
because a few seconds in, jake was already drawing his eyes to an item in the store and in those few seconds, the toddler was already roaming alone, teetering over the edge of the sidewalk as he tried to balance himself on it.
when you came back from the bathroom, the mother instincts kicked in when the sight of jake facing the glass window, looking at the clothing display and behind him, a few feet away, your son, unsupervised.
"sim jaeyun!" oops, full name, he knew he f-ed up
he caught eye contact with you before turning around and spotting his son, running over quickly to pick him up and question what he was doing.
he had some apologizing to do, for sure
sunghoon
sleek, sophisticated, put together are a few words people use to describe sunghoon. especially with the way he dresses and how much of a neat freak he is.
however, what are people gonna say when they find out sunghoon let his son almost run into on-coming traffic.
all he wanted was to greet some fans that were kind enough to keep their distance and still be respectful however in the midst of signing photocards and whatnot, your familiar voice brings him back
"park sunghoon!" yelling from a far, soon after that you're chasing after your son who's about to cross the street alone. not being able to wait to get to the amusement he was promised.
quickly, he catches up to you both in panic. "i'm sorry, i'm sorry" apologizing to you and then glancing at his naughty toddler in your arms, up off the floor, not to be trusted at this very moment. "you mister, never do that again"
sunoo
an almost accident was all it was, the blood rushing through sunoo more than it ever had. not even nerve-racking performances, anxiety prior to shows made him this scared for his life, not like this.
today was supposed to be a pleasant daddy son day but the peace was disrupted when his son saw a puppy from across the street, bolting to it, not even giving sunoo the chance to register what he was so excited about.
shouting his name as he tried to catch him, apologizing to the strangers he bumped into.
his heart felt like it was beating a thousand beats per minute. "bub slow down!' he could not believe it, he was being out run by a three year old.
by the time he took him and wrapped his arms around his son, burying his face in his son's neck, trying to calm his racing heart. his son just giggled and reached for the puppy that was now near him.
"don't scare me like that again" sunoo may have gone home with a temporary dislike for dogs that day
jungwon
curse the day he started becoming reckless and chaotic. the once shy baby turned into a very active toddler who loved doing whatever he pleased. hard to control and keep still.
for the nth time, jungwon had to gently tug his son away from the road, he tried carrying him, but he just wiggled around until he was put back down on the ground.
"where is he going, hey- get back here!" leaving your side to rush over and grab his son before he got too far.
"daddy, daddy, candy!!!" reaching his tiny hands towards the candy store nearby, all this for candy... "please, don't run off like that..."
sighing and begrudgingly walking over to said store, knowing it was not the right thing to do, to reward his son with what he wants after him doing a not so good thing. but here he was, entering the store but not letting his son down.
jungwon was working on autopilot as his mind went to replay what just happened, thinking of what could've happened, wondering how he just let that happen.
"bub, do that again and i'm putting a leash on you..."
riki
a break, just a break. riki was tired from playing tag and all the other games his son wanted to play. taking a seat on the bench, trying to catch his breathe.
unfortunately, that was not in his cards today because his son was already running further and further away from him, farther than what was allowed.
"shit.." shooting back up and leaving his belongings behind to run after his son. all the things he was complaining about, the tiredness, being worn out, that went out the door the moment the toddler got away from him. it was not replaced with fear, heart racing back up.
shouting out and calling out his son's name wasn't helping, not reaching the playful and reckless toddler who saw an ice cream truck.
riki only reached him once his son stopped at the truck. "for the love of-" picking his son up and hugging him tight, the fear still hasn't gone away even when he knew his son was safe in his arms. "bad boy..."
concerned and sympathetic parents gave him looks, some even gave him words of affirmation just to ease his fear.
I don't know if you still accepting request or not...
But!! Imma gonna write it since i've an idea~!
So, what about ENHA dads when their son told them they got scouted to become a trainee/idol? 👀✨ Or like, when their son told them they also want to be an idol just like their Daddy (๑•ᴗ•๑)♡
hi lovely babes!! this was so fun to write about and it's my pleasure to present it to you, ready for you to read (lmk if the link doesn't work)
