Friday Knight Fights (Ongoing event)
Here’s a couple poster/leaflet designs for a weekly event I’ve been running in downtown Portland. The idea originally was a neutral ground for people who enjoy boffer sports and larping to practice and gain publicity in a public format. So far We’ve had a consistently growing attendance, and it’s been an excellent exercise in multimedia communication and collaboration in a B2B and B2C format.
Each week I create a new event wallpaper with a consistent design template that takes me 15 - 20 minutes to create. Next I msg each group on my contact list to join in and engage with them on a P2P level. When Friday rolls around I set up with a couple of others - making sure to bring plenty of extra gear to borrow. Regulars then usually line up to fight and I get to work promoting the group.
When I find someone interested in what we’re doing, I then give them a quick rundown of the rule set and how to fight safely. I made a little leaflet to hand out with two of the local practices on it, as well as links to their respective Facebook page - acting as an entry point to each community.
So far this project is ongoing, but I see great potential for future expansion into other groups, as well as further growing my media outreach network.
