thank you so much for this ask!!! ive been having some issues with my inbox losing messages (or rather, me not knowing how to Use my inbox), but i didn’t forget about you :)
if i recall, the lovely anon mentioned a forgotten daughter-of-hermes ponine, a son-of-hephaestus feuilly, son-of-athena ferre and son-of-ares bahorel being great friends even though they bicker all the time, and a son-of-apollo enjolras going all big brother on his half-sibling jehan when montparnasse shows up in suitable son-of-aphrodite fashion to sweep them off their feet. i love greek mythology! originally, i was going to draw some scenes, but... they all ended up looking like regular canon era fanart. i hope a few modern au portraits of the demichildren will suffice instead!
Jehan Prouvaire - Child of Demeter
okay... i was GOING to go with the apollo thing. i promise. but then the idea of jehan and persephone being half siblings moved into my brain and has been living there rent free ever since! i imagine demeter taking a pretty active role in raising jehan, especially over the cold winter months when she’s off duty. their other mother is a trans woman and so jehan grows up in a wonderfully queer affirming environment, and they’re totally accepted when they come out. persephone visits her mom (and therefore the entire prouvaire family during the spring and summer) - jehan hasn’t managed to convince her to bring cerberus with her yet, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to give up any time soon :)
Éponine Thenardier - Daughter of Hermes
i love ponine! out of all of them, she was the hardest to draw for some reason. i imagine that she spends most of her life not knowing exactly what makes her so odd. she learns quickly when she’s a child not to mention the creatures she sees - it’s unladylike, says her mother, and her mother is frightening when she’s angry - but still sneaks home books from the school library about monsters. when she does finally learn about her divine blood at age 17, it feels like a cruel joke. what good has god-blood ever done her other than make her sturdier under other people’s fists? she spites the gods. to her, divinity is violent, it’s unfeeling, it’s the product of arrogant and careless deities bearing children and throwing them to the dogs. at least until grantaire introduces her to enjolras’s half sister (on his father’s side, of course). maybe if the gods can make something as beautiful as cosette, they can’t be so cold after all.
Combeferre - Son of Athena
for the record, i didn’t use any reference pictures for the owl, and i am perfectly happy with that. combeferre is one of the triumvirate, along with enjolras, son of apollo (of course), and courfeyrac, son of zeus. les amis de la abc is first and foremost an activism group, but it also became a support and protection group for the semi-divine children in their friend group. ferre fits the bill for a son of athena very well! he grew up starving for knowledge, and his dad took him to the library, the aquarium, the history museum, and anywhere else his son’s hunger drove him. even with his busy job and being a single parent, he always made time for his son. ferre drinks 10 gallons of respect women juice every day and loves his friends very much! even when mr-son-of-ares bahorel is giving him a headache.
Montparnasse - Son of Aphrodite
one of the most interesting parts about aphrodite to me is that before the christians got their hands on her... a lot of sources point to her being a goddess of war as well! and, yeah, that is So On Brand for parnasse. he has a whole lot of ego, he’s very much using to getting his way thanks to his looks and his charm. i have a whole lot of headcanons about patron minette that maybe i’ll talk about on here some time, but the fact that he was more or less without a good role model leaves him extremely cocky; used to being the object of affection. people fall over themselves to do whatever he asks. then out of the blue he finds himself head over heels for a certain flower child, and he’s suddenly cursing his mother that he was once so proud to claim. (he’s got a little pearl around his neck in reference to goddess mom too!)
