This is what Revolution means to me: Inspiration
Bass Monroe (Revolution 2.22 Promo)
What wet dreams are made of.
This is what they mean when they say, "Act with your eyes"
WHY I FIGHT
I know it’s late in the game, but it’s time to tell you all why Revolution means so much to me. It’s time to tell you why I fight.
But before I start, I want to thank Nyxie for sharing HER STORY on Tumblr. I’ve been avoiding telling my story for a long time because it’s hard. But Nyxie was brave. And it’s time for me to be brave too. And I want to thank her for inspiring this in me, because I needed to do it even if no one ever, ever reads it.
WHY I FIGHT
Background
In late September of 2012, my mom got sick with low potassium. We don’t know why it was low and we might never have known it was a problem if my sister hadn’t had a bad car accident. We were in the hospital with my sister, in the ER, when we noticed my mom’s lips were blue, even though she could breathe just fine. She said she was just worried about my sister and wanted to be there for her. Once my sister was released, we all—my sister included—convinced my mom to get checked out, because we just knew something wasn’t right. She barely had strength and she was cold even though it wasn’t cold.
Her blood pressure was 68/42. They started IVing her potassium and making her swallow giant white potassium pills, one after another, over and over because she was critically low.
She was in the hospital a week and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her, but her levels went back up, so they let her out. They did suggest we take her to the other big hospital in town next time, because they would have more resources there.
A few days later and her symptoms were back. We take her to the other hospital and they said they would keep her. We thought she was finally in the best place for her.
My gran (my mom’s mom) and I visited her every day when she was in the hospital. Finally, she began to improve and they said she’d be able to go home on Monday and we were thrilled.
If you’ve ever stayed with anyone in the hospital for two weeks, barely having time to shower and always getting food out if you can get food at all, you know it makes you exhausted. So, Sunday, we thought we might rest because we wanted to be ready for her when she came home on Monday in case she had any specific needs or needed errands, etc.
The phone call
Because of everything that had been going on, we were behind on the shows we like—Revolution chief among them.
Monday morning, I called the desk and asked them when we could pick Mom up. They said give them a couple of hours, so we thought we’d watch the episodes of Revolution we missed On Demand while we ate our breakfast. The episode was 01x04, The Plague Dogs.
We were about fifteen minutes into the episode when the hospital called. I thought they were telling me to come get her.
I said something sassy like, “Let me guess: You’re ready for me to take her off your hands.”
The nurse was one who had taken care of my mom when she had a previous health scare when I was 14, ten years prior. She knew me and she told me to sit down. I said no. She said sit down. I said no.
She told me my mom slumped over in her chair and they were “working” on her. I asked what did that mean.
She wouldn’t say it outright. So, I just blurted, “IS MY MOM ALIVE?!”
Her answer: “I don’t know.”

Poignant, tragic, inspiring, defiant, courageous, brave and passionate. This young lady and her story is the reason why you should slap yourself every time you think that you have it hard... but also the reason why you should never give in, never give up and keep fighting the good fight. Which ever battle you are fighting now, the war will never end. It's our purpose, it's our shield, it's our love. It can be our defeat or it can be our legacy. Choose wisely, work hard and don't be afraid to feel the way you do - there is no one way to feel, no one way to live... To quote lyrics from a song I heard, when I was younger, that helped me during some hard (but silly teenage angst) moments -> "The trick is to keep breathing." - Garbage I think this applies to all things though - and it's certainly helpful to think about when we all question 'why we fight' - because no matter the reason may be - we have to remember that ultimately, 'the trick is to keep breathing.' Hats off to you dahling <3 You move me... like music.. :) love ya girl -a.r.
Game of Thrones - Mother's Day Edition aka "You Guys are Jerks," Monologue :)
Whatever Tyrion is boiling up in that dwarf heart of his I say more of it please. Serve it up and serve it cold - until my husband asks me why I am talking at my television as if I am really in the audience (at the trial). Oh boy, if only he knew. I quite often escape to my television realm when I want to get away (sorry Expedia), but tonight was more like hook, line and sinker - and in a good way. Peter Dinklage's performance was absolutely brilliant and for once I tasted some of the 'true grit' that I missed from the previous seasons. The resounding mortal coil during the whole scene was just so viscous, yet so passionately poignant. I hope Dinklage wins yet another award for Tyrion Lannister as he definitely deserves it. "I wish I was the monster you think I am. I wish I had enough poison for the whole pack of you. I would gladly give my life to watch you all swallow it." This was true delivery. Just outstanding. Another player who keeps stepping up to the game is Prince Oberyn, played by Pedro Pascal. He asked some pretty deep questions to "Lord" Varys tonight and it was actually one of my favorite bits of dialogue thus far (besides the Tyrion monologue). There was this moment of prying chemistry that both revealed and added even more mystery to both characters. I've read my fair share into the books but it's interesting to say that this is not something I paid much attention to while reading - and yet, now seeing it come to life, I guess I wish I had paid more attention! As I've mentioned before, there is a stillness that I feel we have reached in this season, that makes me question what's in store for it as a whole but I really think we picked up some momentum finally. We even had a little more action as well! Theon's sister came to save him and guess what? Nothing unexpected. When she realized how broken he had become she disowned him. Poor guy. I highly doubt Yara would have lasted half as long being Ramsay's little experiment, big balls or not. What a sell out. :/ For all her hoot about being an Ironborn I'm not really feeling it. Last thing I want to mention though is that I am totally digging Dany's work ethic while sitting on the throne in Meereen. 200+ still waiting in line to see her? She is a freaking beast. Love her. Love that even though she seeks justice she still has a heart for mercy. Good stuff. Time for bed though, or I may just keep rambling. <3
Tracy talking about finding out about Charloe, watching fanvids, and her shipper aunt. [x]
Even after everything... I love this.
Late night work doodle in appreciation of our favorite Monroe. #MonroeMilitiaStrong
One of the other failures of Revolution, is that they have made Monroe Republic to be the “bad guy” - it’s even evident in the last episode. When in reality, had they played this right, it would have been the thing we love… people would get shirts and go crazy for it…. had they made it triumphant —- not the devil’s ruse. Hell, people still love it.
Boils down to Kripke didn’t see the vision
Yepppp you’re totally right!!! They’re trying to make it the devil when in reality they could have banked so much on it. It could have been the new cult following out of Revolution. But nopeeee. *headdesks repeatedly*
I think they should’ve redeemed the Republic in the way they redeemed Monroe himself. And maybe that’s their plan. Monroe always says it’ll be different this time. No one believes him—but what if it really was different?
What if now that he’s the man who he is now, he could be a man who could lead the people in a Revolution against the horrible situation (the blackout) that’s been forced upon them? In a way, they may have planted those seeds. They showed the Monroe Republic to be technologically advanced and Monroe even told Charlie people counted on him to protect them. Couple those two ideas and the Monroe Republic 2.0 could lead the Revolution against the Patriots and the blackout itself.
Basically, take the Republic on a journey from that thing to be feared and fought against in S1 (just like Monroe himself) to that thing that is redeemed (S2 Monroe) and then if there eve is a S3 take the Monroe Republic to something that is worth fighting for—like the man himself.
This story isn’t over and it will go down as one of the greatest TV crimes of all time if it doesn’t get a chance. #RelocateRevolution
Yes. I love it. Gah. Such potential there. Would have been brilliant!
Rant On aka NBC you're a d*ck
I think it’s hard for any fan to describe the feeling they have when their favorite television show gets canceled.
Not many can relate – likewise to a person who loves their pet like a child. It just seems so odd to become that attached to something that lasts (or lives) for such a short period, compared to other more common objects of affection.
But, I like to think of becoming a fan of a television series as falling in love with a good book, or a good story. It sticks with you forever. Something very magical can occur when you start watching a show that just *clicks* for you. It’s all about relation, connection and passion.
At first you are merely getting to know it, like you’re meeting a new and potential friend. You carefully watch it, full of judgment. You become a critic – but the more you watch, the more you spend time with it – you have an opinion. The real magic happens when you start to care. The characters, the plot, it begins to mean something to you. Whether it piqued your curiosity at the start or turned a corner and smacked you silly with a feeling of déjà vu, you end up having a *moment* where everything just seems to turn from black and white, into vibrant color.
Then there is a connection – a spark. You have instantly decided to let the show become a member of your family. You make time for it, you arrange dates for it. You plan for it. You celebrate it, and over time, you feel like you have found a reliable and best friend who is there for you when others friends are not.
Lastly, there is one other thing that may occur when committing time to watching a television series (especially for the diehard fans). This is the moment when the series becomes even more than a show but an inspiration.
Those of us who get to this point are so overcome with passion for what our eyes and ears have soaked up from every episode, so much that we want to do something about it. We certainly can’t grab our bags and head out to meet our favorite characters on location, because they don’t exist… and we can’t make a call and ask to visit the set where the actors make our favorite television moments come to life. So what do we do? We write, we scream, we shout, we make noise and we support the show in every way possible. We think of ways to help promote. We think of ways to get involved and - one of my favorite parts – we make sure that the cast, the crew and everyone who has anything to do with the show knows just how much we love them.
That is, until disaster strikes – and the big league network nixes their support.
We are then left alone, in the cold – supporting something we fought so hard to promote. Our commitment steadfast, but we end up being tied to the anchor of a sinking ship that has now sailed out of the scope of the very investors that told us to hop aboard.
In conclusion though, I have to admit that not only does this hurt me as a fan of Revolution, but it hurts me as a professional who expects more from the industry AND as an audience member.
Regardless if you are part of the world of production, film, television, writing, SAG or otherwise related to the television networks, this is a great example of the deterioration of scripted television, as well as the reputation of a company’s moral ethic.
If doctors have to swear an oath to do no harm, I think television networks should have to conform to more than a contract with just their employees (producers, cast and crew) but with their audience.
The real question then becomes, why should I commit to watch what you want to show me if you can’t commit to keep showing it to me if I like it? What’s in it for me? Why should I invest my time if you’re not willing to invest your effort?
What a shame to any shows out there that have a strong fan base but not “profitable” ratings.
In the words of Miles Matheson, NBC "you’re a dick.”

The Switcharoo #RevolutionTomorrowloadFaceOff
These are the moments I get unnerved. I feel like we've made such a transition of character and yet, as Miles said, Bass hasn't changed... Or has he? I think so. He has more humor, he has more class, he has more reason for his vengeance and he is totally right. Rachel is a hypocritical bitch. Sorry. Love ya Liz :) I feel like we've come so far, we've seen a deeper side to Monroe that explained his initial behavior with the militia. We saw him love and lose so many times, I feel like he is basically Sansa Stark (Game of Thrones) who keeps getting pelted with more and more depressing news. But it all makes sense because we are coming full circle. Thing is, I don't like coming full circle. It feels a bit forced and it makes me feel cheated. There is just so much to Monroe that we got to explore. His motivations, the comparison and contrast between him and Charlie - and then the Rachel vs. Bass situation. Bros before hos right ??? RIGHT ???
I think it's rather dumb of him not to believe Monroe. This being said, I can only now see two outcomes.
1.) One more Miles and Monroe show down, with Neville on Monroe's side.
2.) Or Monroe and Neville formulate a plan and as they execute the plan, they see Miles' plan fail and attempt to rescue him - all just failure.
Whichever the case... I wasn't as happy with it as others.
Shit Definitely Happens #RevolutionAftermath AKA the Aftermath of my crush on #Charloe
You know that moment when Peter Griffin (Family Guy) is just so excited and he's running down the street and abruptly trips and is grasping his knee in serious pain for like 10 minutes straight?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Gz02QZSNPY Yeah, that was me tonight after watching #Revolution $hit Happens. So, we start off with what I believe is the one of the greatest moments of the night (besides the awesome stunt work/action scenes). We get a close up of Charlie sitting in the wagon, just numb, defeated and pissed.
I love it. Tracy deserves to win an award for most accomplished actress over time in a series. I doubt that exists but just watching Charlie transform is like watching Tracy transform and I guess, just a simultaneous celebration of how wonderful it is to have a strong female role in television today. The scene with her and Giancarlo Esposito was just absolutely amazing. Talk about tense, riveting, poignant and heart breaking - as was the scene I dare not mention. What scene you ask? Oh, I dare not mention it. (Of course). Let's just say that the place where all my wildest dreams where #Charloe may and can exist have been burnt down, along with that fucking shed. I realize now, in my drunken haze of denial, that Connor had it right. There is no real ship that will ever be sailed besides the one where Bass and Miles fall in and out of brotherly love over and over again. It's like a sick and twisted game of dominoes - where Ben has everything Miles would have wanted, and Miles has everything that Bass has wanted. Thing is, Miles is such a passive aggressive that nothing ever gets resolved in his relationships. The only great decision that was ALL his was the day he decided to kill those thugs who were beating up Jeremy in the first days of the black out. Meanwhile, is there a guy that Rachel has not screwed out there? She's as sick as Cersei Lannister at this point - and worse, she loves it. I know she does. Like I always said, the reason I love Rachel so much is because she is the most human of all the characters. She makes me want to strangle her every episode lol :)
So, yeah... fine, I'll say it. They kissed. Bass and Rachel have a go at it, pitching harsh words at each other, trying their best to hurt each other as much as possible. Seeing the look on his face though showed it all. He is jealous. He is madly in love with ANYTHING Miles is a part of. He will live for, die for and consume and find comfort in anyone who means anything to Miles. Emma, Rachel, Nora, Charlie - anyone. The frustration, pain, agony and pent up defeat held back in his wild eyes told me everything I needed to know and I hate to say it, but I am crushed. The only salvation I might have is that one day, now that he has been rebuffed and hurt by all of Miles' women - Monroe will notice the M forever burned on Charlie's arm and attempt that same twisted yet passionate kiss on her... and then hope it's reciprocated, if even just for a few seconds... Then I can die happy ;p LOL How bout you?
Zzz
*yawn* just sitting here waiting for April 30th ;p - Oh, and been busy with some projects and an up coming exam. Opinions shall commence again soon.
One Day More - An NBC Revolution parody
One more week without Revolution NBC get your crap sorted This is the fourth break this season I can’t take take it anymore
Watch them fuck it up, Catch ‘em as they fail, All this time off sucks, When I want my ship to sail, Here’s a little tip, Hiatus fucking sucks, Most of them are pointless We miss Revolution so much!
Seriously, I got my life boat and my life jacket, let's hit those seas together! Bring it!
Being Human, then Being Dead :/
Too bad there is no confirmation of life after death for the rest of us. We are stuck on the couch (or in bed) wishing it could end like that for us. *Sniffles* So YES - thank you SyFy for serving up a delicious plate of simple enough "resolution," which apparently some shows just can't deliver. <cough> LOST <cough> Any how, to sum it up, Sally sacrifices herself to save Josh from being killed by Aidan which turns him into a human again. All of the gang is pretty upset that she is gone, especially Aidan who surprisingly seems a little too upset. This of course makes me wonder if, at the time of the sacrifice, perhaps Aidan gained the memories of being with Sally in the alternate time line. No matter! Turns out Aidan's human body starts catching up to his age and he only has a little bit of time left before he goes into organ failure. Josh and Nora try to help him get through it by sharing time with him, and he surprises them by spilling Nora's secret pregnancy. Aw, this time I think they are ready for it.
Anyways, eventually Aidan starts acting like the Aidan we all know (selfish) by trying to get a vamp to turn him back again and Josh spoils his plan and gets him to admit that he is afraid of dying. As cliche as this sounds, I really liked that they included this moment because it was a huge part of the character's personality. Aidan was always wanting something that he never could appreciate fully.
Sadly, it doesn't matter cause... dun Dun DUN - that freaking weirdo Beatrice (I will forever hate that name now) AKA the HOUSE - draws them all back, but not before Aidan dupes Josh into believing he will actually keep his word and show up at the house at the same time to battle it together. Who didn't see that coming? Okay, I'll admit the rest of the show had me in tears but good tears. Aidan succumbs to the killer house, but not without taking it down with him. (That's right, DIE B*TCH, lol) Josh and Nora show up and see ghost Aidan - say a few words and ... a door appears. Aw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then as they say their goodbyes, Aidan goes through and Sally is there to kiss him ... EVEN MORE AWWWWWWW!!!!! - and I know so many people already probably mentioned this but how freaking awful was the timing on the commercial? Right? So, there we go. :( All seems resolved except in the last few moments (and a flash forward), we see Nora and Josh waking up from a dream in which both Sally and Aidan were in. Was it really them haunting their dreams? I hope so cause that makes me feel warm inside. Then, at last, the cutest thing ever -> The werewolf couple rises from the ground, surrounded by a field of wild grass, calling out to their *twins* (boy and a girl) whose names are... You guessed it. :) <melts> Too fucking perfect. I love it.
This was my headliner this issue, because revolution was my headliner last month :) I'll see if I can get another copy of what I wrote last month but it may already be archived. Just some more info, this is a newsletter for our company, by our company's employees. Right now there are only about 15 of us but we hope to branch out and get more people to participate. The concept is to have some reading material to go out monthly since we are actually not supposed to be online doing anything but work related so ... basically, it's all entertainment. Packed with everything from monthly awareness information, recipes, travel and employee interviews. Last month I started as head of the entertainment section but this month of April, I was in charge of the layout, design, the communication between all the contributors and the editor. The finished product was then sent to the supervisors to do another once over and then to the big timers to do the final review before sending it out via email. I liked this one better than my Revolution recap/review - and I also did one on The Good Wife & Shameless. Hope you like! It's not my best but with the time constraints and the space I had - I think it turned out okay.
Well I don't know if you can read this, but this was my 2nd Revolution article that I did for my company's newsletter. I work in the managed healthcare field and the company has a couple thousand or more employees around the U.S.A. (Hey, it's financially stable and I can do homework and stuff from work :)) I can't show you all that I did but I did a lot more than just write articles (which is why I didn't have as much time to write this one). All in all though, I thought it was alright :) Any way to spread #Revolution and try to get it renewed is important.
Game of Thrones is back and I have a new crush... JK Not much happened.
Hrm. Game of Thrones was pretty... not epic. Spoilers below - actually no these aren't spoilers, more like just a summary of character development so read on ;p
Now don't get me wrong I love this show, I love the books... Well, I mean so far... (Hey it's hard to get through 1500 page books while your doing other things like, school, work, family and watching some other amazing shows). Anyhow, there is really not much to say about this episode except that I find myself strangely attracted to Prince Oberyn - which probably means nothing seeing as he (supposedly) fathered a lot of children so it's not like he has a hard time finding women who find him attractive - or men I guess. This also leads to my new found affirmation that I still have a crush on "bad guys," except, not young demented, totally fucked up ones like Joffery, he's a total turn off so... yeah :/ Meanwhile, Tyrion is feeling insignificant and stressed, Shae is getting jealous and feeling ignored - Jaime too, but more like jealous cause he only has one hand, oh, and Brienne of Tarth still looks awful in a dress (Saw that one coming)! Miles away Dany realizes that her dragons aren't as cute as they used to be. I kind of just wanted to reach into my TV and tell her that it's okay, we all realize this at some point, being mothers, when our children are getting old enough to back talk. ;) Otherwise, Jon Snow seemed to be pardoned from his quick trip to the dark side... for now, and Arya is finally starting to LOOK the bad ass that she really is deep inside. I wish I could say more but really, Sansa is still depressed which is really depressing because all she ever seems to do is mope about in King's Landing sulking over one bad thing after another. She really does have the crappiest story so far, so hopefully we shall see some good come of this one day. As for now, just about the only nice thing that's happened to her is that a drunk guy she happened to have spared from death sneaks up on her and gives her a pretty necklace. Weird? Random? I think not. Okay now it's time for my pissed off rant about how you should not cast an actor for a part and then switch the actor in the next season. Daario Naharis. WTF ;p I get it, things happen but yeah... come on. He was worth it! Not this guy who looks like he belongs up at the wall with Jon Snow <sigh> ;/ Maybe I'll have my foot in my mouth at some point but for now... not a fan.
