I should introduce myself properly so, hello! I'm Speaky(but you could also call me Draven, whatever floats your boat), I am Belgian and am ready to talk about pretty much anything with pretty much anyone!

I love a lot of things, but I am highly focused on:

The Lucky Luke comics, Ninjago(Masters of Spinjitzu and beyond) Star Wars, Blackadder, Vox Machina(critical role in general, but mainly vm and m9), BBC Ghosts, Doctor Who, The Sandman, DARK, House MD, Game of Thrones(and beyond), Puss in Boots, Paddington Bear, anything about Tolkien and his works but also other stuff such as Lord of the Mysteries, Attack on Titan(and other anime), books by Dostoevsky but especially Crime and Punishment, some musicals (especially phantom) and a few games such as Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Lies of P. My favorite film of all time is Amadeus(I can really talk a lot when it comes to this), so if anyone wants to ramble about these things (or other things), I'm always up if anyone would want to chat about literally anything, or vent, or something else entirely. I also enjoy talking about history and languages. I speak Dutch, English, French, German(though the last two, not fluently) and try to make an attempt in learning Russian(any help is welcome lol)

The real powerhouse in Zerocalcare's series is obviously Secco, cause imagine not giving such a fuck about everything that you just exist. Secco must have the most chill life. I admire it, cause I too would love to go get ice cream for any possible occasion.

Just finished watching Due Spicci/My Two Cents, the new show by Zerocalcare and holy shit, it's so good.

Not that I doubted that; the first two series were very great, too, but this is just a whole different level.

It's a bit longer, it's a bit more serious. But it's still full of the great elements what makes it so good. The flashbacks to Alice and Cesare were painful and sad to see, especially Alice's and her situation mirroring that of Smeralda. I had to tear up when noticing Giuilo in Zero's car after Montini's arrest.

The scene where Zero talks to his mother, how she says she wants him to be happy and he says(yells) it isn't possible, because he can't control his happiness, and doesn't want to tell her anything of what happened with Wild Boar and Sarah and Secco and Smeralda, and Armadillo comforting him.. it's my favorite scene in this show, and it might be my favorite scenes in all three series together.

I'm not sure if there are tiny things I'm missing in the language. Perhaps Italian has these words that English doesn't have and I'm only experiencing a fraction of its beauty. But all in all, I'm glad to have seen it and I hope Zerocalcare never runs out of stories to tell.

So. Hate the finale, love the finale, be somewhere in the middle about the finale, headcanon the finale away—

But be kind to each other.

And be kind to the cast, crew, and other people who worked under VERY tough circumstances with what they were given. Or at the least, simply avoid interacting with those folks.

(The only one we don’t need to be kind to is That Man)

Please, please, speak kindly and respectfully to, and about, each other. Everyone who’s not harassing someone has some kind of valid point. Everyone feeling strong emotions is valid in those feelings. Avoid content that throws off your equilibrium, but comfort each other whenever you can.

The real Good Omens always were the friends we made along the way. Let’s stay that way. To our world. 🤍🥂🖤

It's been 7 years and it finally came to an end.

Obviously it's a bit fast-paced considering it's length(1 episode instead of the usual 6, for obvious reasons), but I rather enjoyed it. The actors were absolutely phenomenal in every way. Do I think it's perfect? No, not really. I don't really know what to think of the ending just yet. But in general, I liked it, and I think it's a worthy ending chapter to Good Omens.

The one thing I don't like however: no kiss??? After all these years??? Not one???? Well, thanks

And I'd like a spin-off on God and Satan, just them hanging out across various time periods, like Crowley and Aziraphale, but as spectators. Have them sit in plastic chairs or something and tell stories and just talk about whatever the humans are doing. I think it'd work out.

To end – thank you, Good Omens, and everyone of the cast, for bringing this show to life and bringing it to an end. 💚

I read a few Sherlock Holmes novels a few years ago. I watched the BBC adaptation, I watched The Great Mouse Detective, I watched House(one of my favorites), and I watched the films with RDJ and Jude Law. Jude Law is one of my favorite portrayals of Watson, and his chemistry with RDJ is immaculate. House and Wilson are friendship goals.

I just started watching the Granada version for the first time, with Jeremy Brett as Holmes and Burke(for now) as Watson. Now I see why people adore this version. It's only the first episode and Brett is so good as Sherlock Holmes, he really looks pulled from the novel! I'm really interested to see how this develops later onwards.

I just finished watching season 2 of Devil May Cry. I only know basic things from the games(I'll get to it eventually), but I liked the season! Infinitely more than season 1 mainly because of Vergil, he's definitely my favorite character. He's very interesting, and the opposite to Dante in many ways. And he also has a fire battle theme and likes plastic chairs, so how could I not.

Odd Squad is an organization to stop everything that's odd or bizarre, but their own inventions are weird on their own. Most of the time whenever Olive and Otto visit someone with a problem and use an inator, the problem isn't even solved, just delayed – or it turns into something crazier. The organization is odd on itself.

I remember when I was writing yesterday, halfway I was like "damn, I love this." as in, writing itself. It's a really fun thing to do and both easier/more difficult than drawing(I have 0 artistic talent in my body so it'll never be more than stickmen im afraid). I find it nice for my hands to be filled with ink. the point im getting to - writing is such a beautiful hobby. picking up the pen and stories flow from it. there's love in the words we use. writing brings meaning to our language

A book I'd recommend As I'm sure all my loyal followers have doubtless devoured The Count of Monte Cristo by now under my barrage of threats, urges, & pleas, I will switch my recommendatory spotlight to Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea — my favourite professor, narrating the inexorable decline of a Gothic horror plot as if it were an enchanting & exhilarating adventure novel, awaits you~ 🌊🦦🐚✨️

3. A book I couldn't put down Project Hail Mary had me staying up to unwise hours, especially in the last third or so

4. A book I've read twice or more I've lost count of how many times I've read the Odyssey. The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy doubly so

5. A book on my TBR ...the Odyssey, translated & annotated by Daniel Mendelsohn this time!

6. A book I've put down Great Expectations, which I only picked up at the time as required (to me) reading for better understanding one of the Thursday Next books

8. A favourite book from childhood Ohh, I was a fiend for the Rainbow Magic series... But I don't think I had one favourite above the rest. I also liked Emily Rodda's Rondo trilogy! Our teacher would read out a chapter to us at school every week :) The school year finished partway into the 2nd book, so I finished it using the library's copy, then bought the 3rd for myself. I remember fondly rereading it, even though I've forgotten most of the contents by now.

10. A book of poetry or lyrics that I own Simply titled Haiku, this collection of translations by Hart Larrabee contains selected works of the 4 haiku masters, my favourite of which has always been Issa <3 I have plenty of Bashō but I'd like a book purely of Issa's work someday

11. A non-fiction book that I own The White Mouse! Nancy Wake's autobiography :) A resistance fighter & spy in WWII France, whose exploits, charm, genius, sexcapades, & titanic feats of endurance are the stuff of cinema 🐁

12. What I'm currently reading A few... Don Quixote, The Three Musketeers, Sport for Jove's adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac, & Ella Minnow Pea, which is a reread & which I highly recommend to any lover of words or word games. I'm also rereading some books w friends, namely the Odyssey (Wilson), The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, & Invisible Cities on this very blog!

10. Book of poetry or lyrics that I own: Summerfugledalen. Danish and German, got it for my studies and kept it cause it's very cute

11. A non-fiction book that I own (oh god so many actually. But I'll choose one): Schön & Stark. A book about women who survived breast cancer. Very nice foto shooting, very hopeful and body positive. Truely a "scars to your beautiful"

China became a republic in 1912

That’s 3982 years.

Before Lord of the Mysteries, I thought Chinese was a complicated, weird-sounding language. Impossible to comprehend with all its tones and characters.

After Lord of the Mysteries, I still think Chinese is a complicated language and it's definitely not easy to comprehend it with the tones and all the characters. But it does seem to progress with practice, and sometimes it sounds so beautiful it makes me cry.

The point I want to make — Lord of the Mysteries not only changed my life, but also how my vision has changed on the Chinese language.

Finished act I in Clair Obscur. Absolutely painful and devastating, but it did give me a question – Gustave has brown eyes, right? When there's a close-up on his face, his eyes are clearly brown. However, at the end of act I his eyes are blue. Is it a trick of the light or did his eye color just change?
