What is DOG EAT DOG?
In the early 20th century, a strange phenomenon took place that would change the course of humanity as we know it.
One day, seemingly with no logical explanation, humans began to awaken and develop supernatural abilities that would've once been locked away to the realm of fantasy.
Some could conjure flames from their hands, others could speak with and influence animals to follow their will, and others would even be gifted with the ability to give life to non-sentient objects.
There was seemingly no limit to these powers, and these individuals would go on to shape the future of humanity, be it as superpowered criminals and outlaws, or heroes that rose up to defend the world and stop them at all costs.
This period would become known as The Great Age of Superhumans.
Now, over a century later, in the year 2055, superhero schools are common and spread out all over the world, and a new class is set to being their studies... What no one expect is that they, too, will change the course of history all whilst trying to get a passing grade.
Setting
DOG EAT DOG, unlike many of it's contemporaries, is set in an often unexplored and overlooked setting, that being Brazil, more specifically the southeast region of the country.
The story's main setting is the small town of Caipirinha, smacked dab in the middle of São Paulo & Rio De Janeiro, this once prosperous port town has been left in ruin and disrepair, leaving those living in the town stuck with little-to-no opportunity or prospects for the future, and though this tiny town has been forgotten by the rest of the country, this will all change in a matter of time.
Characters
The cast of DOG EAT DOG is just as diverse as their superpowers, ranging a from foul-mouthed, feline-human hybird delinquent, a pansexual satanist who uses her own skeleton and bones as lethal weapons, a non-binary person who can change their physical makeup at will, a happy go-lucky girl whose genetic make up is 99.9% slime and 0,01% joy, and so on and so forth.
DOG EAT DOG Promises a cast of strong, memorable characters who will all be given a time in the spotlight and not be neglected by the story as it moves along, we hope you join their misadventures in class.
Genre & Inspirations
DOG EAT DOG Is an original work of fiction, a superhero story inspired by both western comics and eastern anime & manga, it tries to bring the best of both worlds together to (hopefully) create a new, memorable inclusion to this iconic fictional genre.
DOG EAT DOG takes inspiration and pays tribute to other ficional works like X-Men, The Wolf Among Us, Rockstar's Bully and, biggest of all, My Hero Academia by Kōhei Horikoshi.
Although inspired by these works, DOG EAT DOG aims to take their ideas and go down a new direction with them, one that will be darker, and more mature, whilst not going into full-blown grimdark territory.
