I donāt even know
Mommy
I feel like I should make a post about this because itās not something thatās very well-known, and that Americans in particular may need to know about given the uncertain state of our healthcare system at the moment. Iāve wanted to write this out for a while, Itās kind of a long post, so sorry about that!
If you have an emergency and have to go to the hospital, youāll owe the hospitalĀ a lot of money. (I got into a car wreck and broke my ankle and my arm. My hospital bill was around $20,000)
Youāll also owe the ambulance provider, if you need one. (My ambulance bill was about $800)
You may get separate bills from the anesthesiologist or surgeon. (My anesthesiologist bill was $1,700)
You may need follow-up appointments. (My orthopedic surgeon billed me for the appointments and his surgery together and it was about $1,000)
Youāve also got to pay for medical equipment you need afterward, like crutches or a walking boot. (Mine cost about $75)
Altogether, I ended up with almost $24,000 in medical debt from one car accident. Thatās a really scary number for someone like me who makes $10/hr at a 12 hour a week job.
I got my debt down to $1075 by making some phone calls and submitting some paperwork.
The first thing I did was contact the hospital. They donāt make it easy to find, but many hospitals (perhaps most hospitals?) have financial assistance programs for people who canāt afford medical bills. I donāt make a lot of money, and I have bills to pay, so they were able to help me. I called the billing department and asked if they had any assistance programs for low income people who canāt pay their bills. I had to call multiple times, and I got transferred in circles by people who didnāt know what I was talking about. Finally, I got an appointment with someone inĀ āEligibility Servicesā (I donāt know what other hospitals call it, if itās something different). I had to bring my pay stubs and copies of all of my bills. When I got to the hospital for the appointment, nobody knew what I was talking about so I had to wander a little to find where I needed to go. I spoke with the guy in Eligibility Services, and I waited for a decision on how much of the bill they would forgive. A month later, I got a call telling me it was totally forgiven.
I did the same thing for my ambulance bill and my anesthesiologist, but the process was a LOT easier. I just had to mail some paperwork and it was totally forgiven.
I didnāt bother with the medical equipment suppliers, since the bills came from separate companies and I didnāt feel like going through the process twice for $75. I was assured at the hospital that they had similar programs for debt forgiveness, so I could have probably avoided paying that too.
The only thing I couldnāt get taken care of was the surgeon/follow-up appointment cost, but they were able to put me on a no-interest payment plan.
Medical debt is scary because itās something that can come from stuff thatās already really scary. I didnāt need the burden of $24,000 in debt on top of trying to get around on a crutch with a broken arm (itās not easy, believe me!).. but I canāt imagine what it would be like with a bigger debt or a more severe medical emergency. I see lots of people in even worse trouble than I was in, both financially and medically. Please know that there are options for you when that GoFundMe doesnāt do enough. Even if your income is higher than mine, itās worth a shot even for partial debt forgiveness.
I am about 900% sure there are people who don`the know this.Ā
PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU LIVE IN AMERICA AND HAVE MEDICAL BILLS
I had to do this once as well and I can ABSOLUTELY confirm that this is true.
Get in contact with the hospital. Donāt justā¦sit there and let the anxiety grow and panic and then ignore it in an effort to find peace.
Hey psst @allfrogsarefriends i found it.
I think people w/o diabetes donāt understand how fucking dangerous of a disease it is. Like whether you have type 1 or 2 (or any other) itās a v harmful and debilitating illness that can kill you v quickly if youāre not careful. I say this bc there are so many people who donāt think much of it, and can indirectly harm those who have it.
When I was working, i got in trouble for wearing my insulin pump bc it looked āunprofessionalā. Iād calmly explain that taking it off could endanger my life and unless they wanted a scene where Iām hauled off on an ambulance and then a subsequent lawsuit, they better let me wear it. Another time I got in trouble bc it started beeping in front of a customer. I was asked to take my blood sugars only on my breaks, even though my doctor said I needed to take it every 3 hrs. I only got 1 half hour break 4 hrs into my shift, and 1 15 min break 6 hrs into my shift. And even when I brought in a dr note explaining why it was so important, Iād still get dirty looks from my bosses and asked to do it in the fucking pantry (since we didnāt have a break room). Like, I had to sit on a dirty ass stool in a cramped space, they wouldnāt let me use a booth. the compassion was non existent.
It may not look as dangerous or debilitating as an illness like cancer, but it is. When I experience low blood sugars, I exhibit symptoms that are scary as hell. My speech comes out slurred, and I get very sleepy/fatigued. My hands shake until I physically cannot hold onto anything, and my cognitive function becomes nonexistent. In fact, if someone is not there with me when I experience it, it can become 2x deadlier bc I donāt have any help.
Just, please recognize that diabetes is very real and serious and scary. ask ur diabetic friends/family how you can help them bc I can guarantee you there is something you can do thatāll make things easier. *For example, ask them where they keep their emergency sugar stashes, or their glucagon pen (and learn when and how to use it!). Find out ahead of time what they need you to do when they experience a high or low blood sugar. Remind them to take their meds or blood sugars when needed. Just be there for them and defend them against people who are ignorant.
*note: depending on the type of diabetes, their needs may differ. Iām going off of what I experience/need as a type 2 diabetic, and even then different people may need different things. Just ask.
Ppl w/o diabetes can nd should reblog, but donāt derail this post unless you have it.
Reblog to let your followers know you are a safe person to come out to.

So, our Lung is on fire.
It is already threatened by huge deforestation, to the point it lost 20% of its wildth in less than 30 years.
Itās been burning for around two weeks and almost no word has been uttered about it. I, sincerely, have come to find out about it just now. Iām shooketh ā¢ļø because weāre really burning away this planet.
The Amazon Rainforest holds 20% of global waters, itās an area of incredible value in termns of biodiversity and, nevermind, itās a crucial climate regulator. Spread awareness, demand help.

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters⦠S.T..R ⦠My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks. STROKE IDENTIFICATION: During a party, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance) They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingridās husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the party . Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some donāt die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this⦠STROKE IDENTIFICATION: A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a strokeā¦totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough. RECOGNIZING A STROKE Remember the ā3ā steps, STR . Read and Learn! Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questionsĀ : S * Ask the individual to SMILE .. T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg āIt is sunny out todayā). R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS . If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher. NOTEĀ : Another āsignā of a stroke is 1. Ask the person to āstickā out their tongue. 2. If the tongue is ācrookedā, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. A prominent cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved. And it could be your own.

My mother died after being paralyzed by a stroke. Please read this^
I remember a while ago here in UK there were stroke-identifying adverts. Their catchphrase was FAST:
F- Face: is their face fallen on one side?
A- Arms: can they raise both their arms up and hold them there?
S- Speech: is their speech slurred? Can they speak a full sentence?
T- Time: if all the signs show a stroke, call 999.

Things They Didn't Put on Your Informed Consent Sheet (Written by a man at his 1-year T-versary)
Youāre going to fucking stink to high heaven. Thatās puberty. Get a good deodorant, shave your armpits or become a hermit. Even then, youāll still probably stink.
Right around 3-6 months on T, youāre going to be in itchy, unbearable agony as your new hair grows in. I scratched so badly that I had welts and blisters that scarred. Iād scratch in my sleep. It never stopped. It was brutal. Hydrocortisone cream and anti-itch powders will help. Avoid having your skin damp for prolonged periods. Avoid excessive heat. Donāt wear spandex. Compression clothing such as tight boxer-briefs or binders will make it worse. Crying like a little baby does not help, but you will doubtlessly try this, no matter how manly you think you are. We are all little babies during this time.
Binding causes scars under your arms and on your shoulders. It also causes acne. Cystic acne.
T promotes muscle growth and fat loss⦠and hunger. If you make bad food choices, you will gain weight, no matter how much you think T is a magic weight loss potion. It is not a magic weight loss potion. On that note, you will gain weight. Muscle weighs more than fat. I dropped 3 clothing sizes but gained 30 pounds in weight.Ā
Your genitals will hurt. Your dick is going to rub against your underwear or packer if itās not properly positioned under your skin. You will master the awkward cowboy walk to the bathroom to fix it in a way that draws the least attention. Crying like a little baby does not help, but you will probably do it anyway.
One day, youāre going to wake up and the first thing out of your mouth will sound so unrecognizable that you think youāve switched bodies with someone else. Itāll be like going from Avril Lavigne to Morgan Freeman overnight. At least, thatās what it will feel like to you. Crying like a little baby is acceptable when this happens.
Everything causes acne. Even your acne meds. You canāt fix it. All you can do is live with it until your hormones stop going haywire.
Some lucky transmen experience temporary uterine insanity. That is, your uterus goes insane and starts cramping randomly. Some endocrinologists theorize that itās due to the muscles increasing in size from the testosterone so rapidly that they cut off their own blood supply. The pain level from this ranges from āa bear on PCP ate my toe offā and āI just took a shotgun shell full of lemon and rock salt to my external genitalia.ā Crying like a little baby does not fix it, but you will do it. You will probably have random bleeding, painful intercourse and lower body weakness. Go to your doctor. Get pain medication. Try to avoid getting addicted to the pain medication. Donāt send nudes of yourself to Pizza Hut when high on the pain medication (as I have done).
Sometimes your voice will break completely in half and you can sing baritone AND soprano. This is great at parties. It gets even greater when youāre drunk.
Drinking before a blood test will mess up your results and may lead your endocrinologist to change your T dose when itās not necessary.
100mg/week is not the gold standard magic-making dose. Thatās where most endocrinologists put you until you figure out the best dose for yourself, with blood tests to monitor your levels so you donāt make your heart explode. Sometimes itās more, sometimes itās less. Itās trial and error. Donāt inject T into a vein. Thatās really stupid. Crying like a baby will not help. Youāll probably hurt yourself and look like a giant idiot in the ER.
You will mess up your injections frequently. Golf-ball sized swellings, redness and heat can be common even without infections. Sometimes it will hurt so much that you canāt even walk, sit down, masturbate or shit without being in horrible agony. Cry and move on. Biofreeze will be your best friend. Note: wash your hands after applying Biofreeze, especially before you attempt to use the restroom. Ibuprofen helps with the pain better than tylenol and is less likely to make your liver turn black.
People who donāt know you well, such as your favorite barista or your pharmacist, will stop recognizing you at some point. This is normal. Use it advantageously.Ā
T will change your emotional responses to things. A lot of people think that it makes you angry and this is not always true. You may have stronger emotional reactions to things. You may have less strong reactions to things. You may get sad where you once got angry, and vice-versa. This is normal. Adapt. If someone tells you that youāre being an asshole, listen to them. Itās also appropriate to tell them to go fuck themselves.
Your informed consent sheet will tell you that your genitals will be drier than the Sahara in the summer. This is not always true. In fact, sometimes the opposite can happen and itāll be quite swampy. Learn to adapt. Or get Summerās Eve. Sadly, they donāt make it in Axe scents.
If youāre under 21, itās possible that you might get taller. Remember the growing pains you used to get as a child? Now imagine those but 500% worse. Thatās what it will feel like. You will also have to relearn your spatial relationships with the surrounding world. You will be awkward and clumsy. You will knock things over and be in a constant state of bruised.
You will be less iron deficient on T if you stop menstruating. If you have iron-deficiency anemia, it may clear up entirely.
The copper IUD contraceptive Paraguard can cause your periods to come back. Transgender men looking for an IUD are encouraged to choose Mirena, which is infused with progesterone. Progesterone-only hormonal contraceptives such as Depo-Provera, Implanon/Nexapro, the morning after pill and some daily oral contraceptives are less likely to interfere with your HRT but will likely worsen your acne, cause weight gain and affect your moods. If you are under 25, are on T and have Mirena placed, it is likely your body will reject it. This is very painful and itād probably be less painful if you stuck both of your feet into a bear trap. You will cry like a little baby. You will also throw up and shit yourself.
Do not attempt to STP while intoxicated. If cis guys canāt control their urine streams while intoxicated, you sure as hell canāt.
And just to piss you off: Testosterone therapy is a subjective experience. No matter how much you can prepare yourself for the changes, youāll be surprised by whatās happening to you. After you start T, itās likely youāll feel lost. You spent a lot of time and mental effort getting to this point and now thereās not much to do but wait. At some point, your changes will slow down. Some day, youāre going to wake up with a beard and not remember the time you didnāt have one. And neither will anyone else. So just be and stop worrying.
To all the dudes who need to have this info before having freak-out episodes because any or all of these things happen to you!!

Help my brother pay for rent!
My brother and his room mate moved in to this apartment complex on the 26th of July, and the complex neglected to tell them that the 1st months' rent they were paying for was for July 26th-31st and not for August 1st. This has caused them to be behind on rent, and they now have til the 15th OF AUGUST, 2019 to pay!
This has added stress to the situation my family is in. My dad is about to get laid off at the end of this month, and we just moved out of our old apartment. Because of this, my little sister and I are living with my brother and sleeping on his couch. My two cats, Colby Jack (left) and Cheddar (right), are with us too.
My brother needs AT LEAST $1100!!

Okay so in my history class we were writing down vocabulary words and then we came to the word ā Epistemology.ā. The definition was:
āThe therory of knowledge especially in regard to its method, validity and scope. Epistemology is the investigation of what distinguishes justified belief from opinion.ā
Now, do I understand the definition? Yes. Will I be able to remember that definition? No. Do I have a quiz on that tomorrow? You sure bet I do.
So can any of the big brained homies out there help me out and give a simpler definition?
please help me Iām literally so stupid
First of all, don't say you are stupid. People are better at learning different things at different paces or also just using different learning styles. So in its simplest form you could say Epistemology is the study if knowledge and how we acquire it. However, I dont believe having a simpler definition is what you want to actually retain information it is much easier to understand something rather than just memorize a definition. Basically Epistemology is all about beliefs' and WHY those people believe them. Do they have evidence? Personal experiences? Read something about it? Etc. Etc. It's a form a philosophy about determining whether certain beliefs are JUSTIFIED to be believed based on WHY they believe it. I hope this helps. Good luck on your test.
That helps so much. Thank you!

Okay but for anyone who legit wants to know how to calculate it correctly:
The elbow joint on average rests a couple inches higher than the navel, so if you measure how long the distance is from the middle of the shoulder to that point then you have the length of the upper and fore arms!
So if anyoneās wondering about legs too, the simplest rule of thumb is that the length from the top of the leg to the knee is equal to the distance between the top of the leg and the bottom of the pectorals:
And I wanna stress that when i sayĀ ātop of the legā iām not talking about the crotch (please donāt flag me tumblr itās an anatomical term) iām talking about the point where the femur connects to the pelvis, which is higher up on the hips:
Itās easier to see what Iām talking about in this photo of a man squatting:Ā
So yeah if you use that measurement when using this technique you should get fairly realistically proportioned legs:
But remember! messing with proportions is an important and fun part of character design! Know the rules first so you can then break them however you please!
HOW THE HELL DID I FIND THIS POST OMG

āThis is your daily, friendly reminder to use commas instead of periods during the dialogue of your story,ā she said with a smile.
āUnless you are following the dialogue with an action and not a dialogue tag.ā He took a deep breath and sat back down after making the clarifying statement.Ā
āHowever,ā she added, shifting in her seat, āitās appropriate to use a comma if thereās action in the middle of a sentence.ā
āTrue.ā She glanced at the others. āYou can also end with a period if you include an action between two separate statements.ā
Things I didnāt know
āAndāā she waved a pen as though to underline her statementāāif youāre interrupting a sentence with an action, you need to type two hyphens to make an en-dash.ā
You guys have no idea how many students in my advanced fiction workshop didnāt know any of this when writing their stories.
