Sketchbook dump…. I honestly don’t draw in it that much so this is the most amount of color it’s gonna get in a long time.
The Jack spicer doodles was like my first time drawing him, the same goes for Chase young. Im not that happy with that doodle of him.
The blacked out guy is my oc for the show, I’m to embarrassed to show it (>人<;)
Realmente no me gustó este dibujo, pero ya qué.
Updated version of my Heylin-transformed Omi design. Still not quite there with it but definitely an improvement. Happier with the colours this time and his head and water-mane design - I made the mane smaller and shaped the water into 'spines' like those seen on both Chase and Guan's beast forms. Again a lingering link to his water element - when in battle the mane freezes and forms blades of ice.
I still need to make his form more twisted and monstrous. I'm thinking something similar to Chase's hunched back, with shorter crocodilian legs and long arms to make him less well-proportioned. I also played around with adding webbing to his hands (since he's meant to be a sort of cat/water dragon hybrid) but couldn't get it to look right. I'll probably fiddle about with this further in future but for now this will have to suffice.
🤠 fanart de Clay porque es el favorito de la cumpleañera @rawstar2-3 🌻
Do you think any of the Dragons in training were ever spanked
Oddly specific question but I can answer this pretty confidently:
Omi: No. Omi states in no uncertain terms that Master Fung doesn't use corporal punishment. He's been disciplined in a lot of ways growing up, oftentimes very harshly. But spanking was never one of them.
Kimiko: No. She is Toshiro's pride and joy, he absolutely has never disciplined her, much less with spanking.
Clay: Probably not, maybe once or twice at most when he was really little. Spankings were definitely used in the Bailey household, it's common in Texas culture. But Clay is the golden child and rarely got in trouble. He'd get chewed out about doing better to meet expectations and be a man, but actually getting in trouble for doing something wrong was rare, if it ever happened. Now Jesse, on the other hand...
Raimundo: Probably yes, he has a big extended family with lots of aunts and uncles and kids, and like Clay, corporal punishment is not uncommon in his culture. Huge family, on top of Raimundo being the type to act out for attention or being a troublemaker or class clown especially in his younger days.

thats a 16 YEAR OLD MINOR, BOY, TEENAGER, and a 1500+ YEAR OLD MAN 💔
More shirtless(and maybe pantless) Clay sketches?
*sigh* you ask, you shall recieve.. (slight suggestive warning) I'm trying to get as accurate as possible to the original artstyle, i feel like he'd have some bulk cause of how much he eats meat
I'll draw more of him like this sometime so yes Clay half naked isn't completely out of the picture 👅
Did not know that! Did not know that either! Wow... I did not even know that I did not know that!
Omi. We must concentrate on the knowledge we seek.

You need not work so hard.
Close your eyes and allow yourself to see. Allow your tiger instincts to take hold. Remember all that I've taught you.
These gentle chides and encouragements from Chase work really well with Omi.
Whether he's overexcited, panicking, or overexerting, Chase is good at getting Omi to calm down and find his center to get a better hold of the situations they're in.
Omi is a person who is dedicated, but he also can't help the fact that he loses focus a lot. Not focus on his goal in the long-term, but moment-to-moment focus.
His attention is drawn away by things that fascinate him, he has big emotions that he struggles to regulate, and his lack of socialization makes it difficult to him to match others' pace.
The others have gotten onto him for his "wondering mind" before, but Chase is really good at meeting Omi where he is and helping him actually reign in his emotions and get his train of thought back on track immediately.
It's one of the ways Chase proves a surprisingly effective teacher for Omi in a way his other mentors fail to connect with him on. They sort of understand each other, in a way Omi is not used to being understood.
Ive started a series where I make Jack dress as famous villains. My first one is so heinous and terrible and hilarious only to me I might only show it to people who DM me. MAYBE. So OFFICIALLY this is #1.
Clay and Kimiko feel so equal to each other. They get to both jump in and save each other, and neither of them feel like they're narratively being made weak just for the sake of bolstering the other, they're just able to support each other and cover each other's strengths naturally
The parts of Omi
Concept for a heylin transformation for Omi. Not super happy with it but spent too long on it not to share. I'm envisioning some sort of cat/dragon hybrid - not sold on the colours, but I didn't want everything to just be yellow Omi-cat.
As for the liquid mane... something something Omi is so strongly connected to his element it bleeds over into his transformation.
Chase Young was once on the side of good. However, he traded his soul for a potion that keeps him forever young.
Hannibal is the one who turned Chase Young to evil. Chase Young and Master Monk Guan were once the best of friends. But Hannibal found a way to come between them. He knew Chase Young's weakness was his need to be the best on the block. And that Master Monk Guan was the one who stood in his way. Hannibal reminded him of his destiny to be the greatest warrior ever. But that destiny could only be found on the Heylin side. Later Chase felt the Heylin side was growin' a little too crowded and double crossed him. He locked Hannibal, in the Ying-Yang world for eternity. And you can imagine, it put a real strain on their relationship.
They obviously have their own motives and are trying to convey different things, but the difference between the focus and the detail in Guan's telling of Chase's backstory vs Dojo's telling of Chase's backstory is so interesting.
Guan had this whole book prepared to help him barely say anything at all.
Both of their stories had their differences from the events we actually witness. But any inaccuracies in Dojo's recounting feel like a natural misconception from the fact that he had to piece info together in hindsight.
Guan's inaccuracies and omissions feel very carefully constructed. It feels very scripted, too. As opposed to how casually and off-the-cuff Dojo spoke with his little glib adlibs through in.
